Borderlands 2

Edit: so there was a ~170MB update today, I don't know what that was about but it seems a bit big for patches.

This is what the patch did
Released July 24, 2013

  • Added PhysX effects to Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep content.
Hotfixes
  • Corrected an issue with certain assault rifles not receiving the proper damage bonus from their barrel.
  • Flynt now has a chance to drop the Tinderbox and other unique items.
  • Addressed an issue where BNK-3R could get stuck and not be defeated.
  • Corrected the alignment of holographic pistol sights.
  • (Mr. Torgue DLC) Badassasarus now takes proper explosion damage from the Tunguska rocket launcher.
  • (Tiny Tina DLC) Players that have accepted but not completed "Roll Insight" can now properly interact with Murderlin.
  • (Tina Tiny DLC) Repositioned the boundary turrets in Unassuming Docks to prevent players from missing a critical area.
  • Addressed a rare issue where players who did not complete the optional "Collect Slag Samples" objective would not properly spawn back into the Natural Selection Annex.

Also kinda sucks that there will be no second season pass. Even though they did say there will be some stuff for season pass holders but I just don't see it.

I just got a Blast Proof The Bee from a Pixie. Seems like I should kill those pesky buggers some more often. And TBH, I would like to see some Pearl Class mods, grenade mods and Shields. Maybe a legendary relic that actually does something. I am also sick of encountering times when elemental DOT damage does single digit damage when it should be around 4 or 5.

Hey there, I've had Borderlands 2 since release but have become bored of it due to the difficulty of UVHM. I prefer to stick to playing as a level 30 ish character on the Normal playthrough end game, where I can use a Vladof assault rifle without being turned into swiss cheese by a standard bandit. I have the 1st 3 DLC's.

I'm wondering if anyone else shares my views and enjoys a semi-easy game with their favourite brand guns, like Jakobs shotguns for example. If anyone is interested in starting a new playthrough together online with me on PS3, contact me via PSN. I'm a bit of a noob even though I've played the game so much, so I'm probably more suited to gaming with fellow casual players.

Why am I laughing so hard?

This game isn't so hard. Sure, it's trolly at times (god damn skeletons), but really all you need to do go with the Gunzerker, find the best gear and then kick ass. Not hard to do. Or just use the Mechromancer with the Anarchy/Close Enough combo. It's so easy a cave man could do it.

Also: I hear they are going to bump up the level cap and add some sort of arena where you can face anyone.

Insults not necessary.

I never said I can't play the game in UVHM. I simply want to use a wider range of tactics, which doesn't really work. A Jakobs Shottie for example isn't exactly effective in UVHM. Same goes for Vladof Assault Rifles. I get bored of only using Snipers, slag guns, Torgue Ravagers and the usual legendary suspects.

Borderlands 1 tanking with any character was a right laugh, where just about any gun could be useful. I swear the guns were balanced better in the original.

Insults not necessary.

Ignore him, if you look back far enough you'll see posts from him talking about modding and using the Evil Smasher glitch making the game too easy, then complaining that UVHM is too hard without the ES glitch when it was fixed. The guy has nothing to be smug about.

So there's a big update: http://www.gearboxsoftware.com/community/articles/1080/borderlands-2-software-update

And the new level cap DLC will be out next week, which includes Digistruct Peak, the arena - balanced for four players - where you fight basically everything. I've read that you can complete it over and over again to get access to new 'overpower levels' which are essentially levels beyond 72 which don't give you any more skill points but do let you use level 80 gear and fight level 80+ enemies. I'm not sure if they apply to when you're not in Digistruct Peak though, but I'd hope so.

The first Headhunters pack is out near Halloween and is, from what I understand, a single quest DLC with a boss battle, the reward for which is a new head.

Oh yeah, source: http://m.digitaltrends.com/gaming/a...-digistruct-peak-and-tk-bahas-bloody-harvest/

Well I am officially done with BL2 with that update. Since I am not going to pay for more levels and now with the fixes in a bunch of stuff mostly that the TR has been fixed now. So no more BL for me.

Also looks like the Modded weapons will be deleted again. With the safeguard.

I still haven't even seen the treasure room yet, nor have I modded any weapons, so it's business as usual for me. I hadn't played in ages before yesterday because of Dark Souls, Payday 2 and I've also played through Dead Space 2, but I think it's time I got back to it.

"As you can see, Ultimate Upgrade 2 Pack does more than just add 11 new levels for characters to grow into – it also includes a challenging new map (Raid on Digistruct Peak) for hardcore players!

Packed full of ultra-powerful enemies, Raid on Digistruct Peak is an unrelenting gauntlet for Pandora’s toughest to prove their mettle. Those that defeat the challenge at Level 72 will earn rewards unlike anything Borderlands 2 players have seen before – most notably, the ability to wield insane loot that exceeds the Level 72 cap (imagine what the stats on a Level 80 Conference Call look like) …and face even harder foes. For more details on that, hit up this article on Digital Trends."

So I'm getting that, then.

Decided to take the plunge and buy Borderlands 2 in a clearance sale yesterday (10 pounds was a bargain). So far I've been very much enjoying it, I love how the weapons get better and better as you go on (Hyperion weapons are the best so far I think). Handsome Jack is also one of the best villains I've ever been up against, he's cool, funny and constantly intimidates you as you play. The bosses are also very good, just beaten the W4R-D3N and I've read something about a supposedly invincible boss, but I don't think that's true. I guess Gearbox now has me sold on BL1 and BL2 DLC, can't wait.

I wouldn't bother with Borderlands, BL2 made it pretty much redundant because the story sucks and it plays more like a demo for Borderlands 2 in some ways. Also you can skip most of the DLC, my advice would be to choose a character, get to level 50 and finish the first two playthroughs and if you're still loving it then get the Season Pass. If you finish those and still want more, either try the other included characters or get one of the character DLC, but I'd advise against buying the Season Pass and two characters right now because you never know, you might decide you hate the game before you finish True Vault Hunter mode or something.

I guess this is hacked info, but my god, look at these legendary mods:

BL1 is a subjective matter. Frankly I'd recommend it when you can buy it with all DLC for about £12. I played it from release right up until BL2 came out. BL2 is no doubt the more polished game however. As for BL2 DLC, the only one I wouldn't recommend is Hammerlock's game hunt, though the Season Pass will pay for it.

Would you go back to Borderlands now, though? I loved it too but I don't think there's any reason to revisit it now other than to 'get' certain references in the sequel.

Actually I think I would. I played it about a week ago just to have a quick nostalgia session - I remembered exactly why I loved the game. I'll have to go through Ned's Zombie Island at some point - I loved that DLC.

One of the main reasons I play Borderlands 2 is because it's fantastic online. If Borderlands 1 had more a more stable online service and I had any friends who played the game, I'd probably still be on it regularly. I did actually stop playing BL2 for a time when I had completed TVHM and none of my friends had the game.

I think it's mainly the more simple mechanics that I prefer.

I loved it too, at the time, but even before Borderlands 2 came out I got sick of the dead environments, lack of colour and various other small annoyances (especially in the PC version, but I spent most of my time with the game in the PS3 version; I got to level 50 with Mordecai then 'ported' my save to PC and got to lv63 before I gave up), Borderlands 2 has pretty much fixed everything I didn't like except for the DLC (Borderlands' DLC was better, though the most recent one - Assault on Dragon Keep - is the best single DLC by a long way). The Badass Rank system is great too because it means that no matter who I play with or what I do, I'll be earning points that will benefit all of my characters. Being able to swap loot between them is great for the same reason.

I just think that someone new to the series won't find much to enjoy in Borderlands after having played the sequel first, but then it is really cheap now I guess. I still haven't gotten over the level 16 Crimson Lance sniper rifle I had, I used it right up until the end of the first playthrough then traded it away... I never did find another one, I had a Crimson Lancer and a Liquid Lance but they just weren't the same. I also miss my Bessie, that thing was just hilarious.

I wouldn't have any problem with BL2 but with the lack of replayability of treasure rooms (Like warrior?) would make it more fun or at lease keep some of the decent "glitches" that would allow them to continue to play without having to do some online stuff just to get good decent gear.

That Legendary Gunzerker Class Mod looks incredible. Can't wait to get my hands on that, along with the Bekah and Carnage.

So when do these new DLCs go live?

Not sure if there is a date out yet.

So when do these new DLCs go live?

Not sure if there is a date out yet.

Their already out, Steam has been updated at 12 pm CT and the PS store just updated and Xbox already had it this morning.

Cool, I looked a few days ago and didn't find them.

Guess I jumped the gun .

I couldn't see it on Steam so I bought it from Green Man Gaming instead. I've had a quick go in the Digistruct Peak arena, I was surprised to see completely new enemy types (I had been expecting re-used assets, they seem fond of that) and I died shortly after the big drop after the vending machine and gave up. Instead I finished off UVHM with Krieg, now I'm sad that he's not lv61 yet. In fact I'm sad that all of my characters are below lv72...

Hmm are you sure? I checked both PS store and in game and found nothing new.. :(

I just checked and its there. You have to type it though. Since it's updated but not updated.

And for steam I was on there about 1 pm today and it was there however I didn't buy it.

****snip**** however I didn't buy it.

I haven't played this game in many months. Since I last played BL2, I have earned Platinum Trophies on both Ni No Kuni, and Final Fantasy XIII-2. I just bought a new copy of Star Ocean: The Last Hope International for the PS3, and from what I've read, this game will most likely keep me occupied for a very long time.

I simply got tired of all of the micro-managing being implemented into BL2 by R.P. and the rest of the mental midgets at Gearbox. I can't believe that they are still implementing hot fixes and updates to modify (read: nerf) game mechanics nearly a year after the game was released here in the U.S.

I bought the original season pass shortly after the game was released, and even though I managed to play the Krieg character through normal mode and TVHM, I have not spent an additional penny on any of their other DLC offerings, including the aforementioned Krieg character. (Thanks, Gibbed!)

I got really tired of doing the same thing over and over again. It was sort of fun the first couple of times with different characters and skill sets, but I have no need, and certainly no desire to basically do the same things over again, albeit at higher levels and with new locales, which to me at least, appear to be equally mediocre to those that were previously released. My personal opinion is that Gearbox should change their name to Greedbox.

It's funny, I'm completely the opposite. I bought the DLC, had a quick go until I died using my only lv61 character (Zer0) then got back to work on the other five. Now I've got Krieg up to lv61.5 and Axton is 57, the rest are all still 50-51. At first I was like 'oh god, am I seriously starting ANOTHER playthrough?' as I've done 17 and started about five, maybe six more on top of that (all bank characters), but by the time I got to A Dam Fine Rescue I didn't even care any more, I was having too much fun.

Also - I don't mean to imply that this applies to you, it's just an aside - I find it so strange when I hear or read people saying the characters all play the same or similarly. I mean, you can build just one character in several different ways, none of them play the same. Zer0 as a sniper requires a completely different set of tactics and gear to Zer0 as a melee, and even within those builds there are different ways to play; do you glass cannon with a Hawkeye and Bee or pick a Vladof rifle and get closer? There's so much scope for different approaches and I think a lot of people overlook that, I find if I'm getting bored I'll just respec and re-learn how best to play.

Frankly even that gets boring after a while for me. Especially with the level of difficulty of the game as a whole and the sheer amount of time it takes to reach the level cap.

I'd like to try all of the characters with their fully levelled skillsets but getting to the level cap in the first place takes so long that I don't have the time or patience to do so really. Still, each to their own.

Yeah, you're not wrong. I've spent around 520 hours on the game since day one and I've only got two lv61 characters! I've heard the bar brawl in the Torgue DLC is a good way to grind levels, some people saying they got from 61 to 72 that way in just over a couple of hours, and of course there're the Torgue Tokens so you could grind those 11 levels and then buy yourself a lv72 Unkempt Harold at the end of it all... I think I might do that with Krieg when I get Axton to the end of UVHM.

I hit Lv72 this morning and tried one of the overpower levels. Essentially your health stays the same it seems, while enemies level up. So when you ight level 80 enemies you still have level 72 health. The digistruct peak enemies also have more health than their standard counterparts.

I levelled up by farming skags in the Arid Nexus. I never tried the bar brawl since I assumed I'd die very quickly. Still, at least it doesn't matter if I die now - most guns are worth around 500k just to sell at OP level 1.

So far I am at level 70, I've actually been finding quite a number of Legendarys, including an incredible Legendary Gunzerker COM, another Bee Shield, and a Legendary Engineer COM.
