This evening, I met up with Peugeot Sport UK to discuss the new car and give it a few laps at Brands Hatch Indy...

I can't get anywhere near those times Rolo. I'm loosing almost 2 seconds somewhere and that's after tuning the suspension. :( I must be going wrong somewhere, I can shave off a little more through the chicane's (thanks for the pictures) but I'll still be way off your pace.

Back to the drawing board I guess. Lol

I'll give the VW a try tomorrow and see what times that can achieve.

I'm not able to join any online lobbies much at the moment, the risk of lag and/or a disconnection is just too great, so I won't be able to attend group testing. I should be sorted out with a more reliable connection on the 4th, just in time for the racing to begin.

It's just Ascari, I'm sure things will tighten up elsewhere.

The Scirocco is my one concern this season for pace. I can peg it back a little if it's too fast, but not by much.

I hope it does the trick for you mate 👍

With a bit of tweaking in today's test, I managed to slash over 2 seconds from my previous personal best in the Genesis to grab a 2:17.1. I think a high 2:16 is within reach given my skills.

I've knocked my lap time down into the 2:16's, although I'm not consistent yet. I'm still tweaking my little Volvo though, I love to push the car to its limit before giving up and swapping to something else. Lol.

The VW did me proud when I joined the BTCC at the end of season 5. I have fond memories of that car. :) I'll certainly give it a try.

Overall, I expect the Volvo to be the safer option, it's Swedish and has plenty of airbags.

I hate ascari with a passion :(

Will need to get involved with testing with you guys, the alerts done seem to always work fir me on this thread so I miss loads of pages!

Good to see the numbers up, a while back it was saying 6 spaces free.

Couldn't agree more no flow its :yuck:

I think that it has some flow, it just takes ages to learn the track and get it mastered.

A couple of turns are awkward, they should be a nice sweeping bend, but getting the turning in point and the speed correct is difficult. It's easy to miss the apex and go off wide on the exit and then that ruins the next corner too because of the dirty tyres.

I'm starting to enjoy the track, I'm just not as fast as Rolo.

Imo it's just a track not a race track, you can see rich people going there with there sports cars driving round in the sun but not a actual race happening!

I think some of the mid speed corners of Ascari would suit the balance of the FRs best with a good setup. Straight line speed will be a weak point.

Totally agree. A well tuned FR should do well on quite a lot of the corners around Ascari, the final sector is where the FF's can stretch their legs though, so hopefully it'll make it an even track for both.

Finally gotten the Ovlov into the 15's 2,15.8 i can see the corner where i think Rolo's gaining another half a second but im finding it a b***h to get right at the same time as the rest of the lap.:banghead::crazy:

Well done. :)

I'm not sure that I can do 15's, I have no idea where I can gain the time. I'm cutting across the run-off on both chicane's.

Have you spent much time tuning the car?

Yes mate a while tbh:boggled: took me a fair amount of time to iron out the horrible tyre smoking:ouch: It's a lot to do with track knowledge for me i just hate having to learn new ones.:irked: For me the banked corner before the tight left turn (3/4 corners from the end of the lap) is an area to gain unexpected time.:)

Thanks John. :)

The tyre smoke is a concern, I have the same problem. I've tuned the LSD although it probably has room for improvement, so it's partially my driving style that's the issue, I need to learn to be more restrained and progressive with the throttle.

I know which turn you're talking about, it's one of those corners that can be taken much quicker than you realise. I've been getting braver through there.

I think that I can possibly improve my entry into the 1st chicane too. I think that I've got the braking point wrong.

Overall, I actually like the track.

Can you put me down for a Renault please rolo. Its the one im happiest with so far. Not put the rwds through the paces yet though.

Well I have just ordered GT6 from best buy for $40. I will have to wait possibly a week for the game to be shipped here but I would maybe like to get back in on this. I figured out how to hardwire my ps3 through the university's network so hopefully my connection would be okay. I am not sure how fast I would be as I haven't played yet. Also I'm stuck to using a DS3, anyways I would still like to participate. Not sure what I want for a car but probably a RWD. I would also have to play the game a bit even to get the car and upgrade it since there is no trading of cars.

Sure, there's room, welcome back! Hopefully we'll see you on track :)

One question, how much racing would I have to do against boring AI to make enough money to get the BMW?

I think you may need to get the National B License before you're allowed to race online, so I think that means you'll have to at least complete all the Novice events (Sunday Cup etc).

Is there still big money in the seasonal events to get easy cash?

Hmmm to be honest I think the biggest paydays are for the offline Red Bull Challenges, but a Seasonal Event or two golded will definitely give you enough dollar for your BMW (+ tuning) :)
