Well, if it'll help anything, tonight, the night before the challenge is revealed, I will mention that classic and modern cars have an equal shot in some of the challenges to come, and your choices may just give your opponents the lead instead...

Ha ha, I thought I'd finally decided what I was going to drive. I was about to come on here and say that I had decided to go for a modern car, but that post has intrigued me, so I will go away and think again.

And the classics look better too.

Alright, today I will reveal the first challenge. Having some kind of camera is key for this one.

Just after the Indianapolis 500, you too will be taking that 2.5-mile sprint for a lap of the Brickyard, in the dry, Forward.

You will post your best lap time, your best top speed, and finally, a picture of your car during a replay.

You will be judged by your peers, who will vote for the best-looking muscle car out of all of the competitors. Remember, paint and wheels don't count towards your budget, so you can pay what you want to get a nice color scheme and wheel setup.

I will also now introduce you to the Founder's Car for this season.

Dodge Challenger SRT-8 '08: 40,027 CR
Supercharger: 17,500 CR
Sports Flywheel: 150 CR

Total Budget Spent: 57,677 CR

Black, Stock Wheels

Cool sounds good. When and where do we announce what car we are going to use?

Oh sorry here I guess. Have to look up exactly what I used but I'll throw it up tonight.

Are we still using the valuations on the mygranturismo site for the used cars? I've got a '64 Pontiac Tempest Le Mans GTO sitting in my used car dealer for 20,000 less than that site has it listed at, I think that would be money well spent on a customisable gearbox.

On a side note, my statement the other day that I had it down to my final two choices isn't quite true anymore, it's somehow gone back up to six or seven. Still, it's getting me driving some cars I wouldn't have otherwise looked at!

Oh you've got a supercharged Challenger too. Damn it. I figured it's modern enough to go fast but it's still very close to the looks of the classic Challenger. Supercharger adds fun factor. :D

Okay I went with the Camaro SS '10- 35 000

Front aero and a wing-4000

ECU chip- 1000

1st Stage Engine tuning- 2 500

Racing Air Filter- 450

Catalytic Converter- 500

Sports Exhaust- 1 500

Height Adjustable Suspension- 4 500

Sports soft tires- 8 000

All totaled= 57 450 cr.

Bought black rims after I saw you said those don't count in the cost either.

Hmmmm...well, for this month I'll let you decide between your Tempest or your other choices.

That's tricky...I think from now on everyone should post what their cars were listed at the time of purchase.

I've noticed mygranturismo has been well off on quite a few of the cars I've bought from the UCD too and they haven't exactly had km's through the roof on them either.

Thanks for clearing that up. I think one of the game updates must have changed the prices in the UCD. Strangely so far I've not noticed any cars that are more expensive now, only cheaper. Maybe it's PD's way of making up for them lowering the prizes in the seasonal special events.

Yeah, I noticed exactly the same thing. I managed to pick up a Supra RZ for around 9000cr cheaper than I'd previously seen it due to it having more miles. But I was so suprised with how cheap I got it that I took a picture of the price, just to make sure he believed me

I know what you mean, my first thought when I saw that Pontiac for 29,000 was to take a photo, just in case. I'm not going to need it though, I tested the car thoroughly but I had serious trouble getting it through the corners, and if I'm struggling at Indy, I will be in real trouble if it turns out the next round is at the Nurburgring.

I think I'm going to have to go modern otherwise I am going to be tearing my hair out over the next few weeks.

Do we post the pictures here and e-mail them to you or e-mail them to you only?

E-mail them to me, please. It kind of comes to my mind that the photo segment of the contest isn't something I can rush, so what I'll do is have it as a competition held over the following week.

Okay, I've returned now and I've decided on a car. I too am going to be running a Camaro SS '10. I also seem to have a similar tune to CMvan46, except for the suspension upgrade. I've just gone for sheer power, which I feel I may come to regret  It's not the best handling car in the world haha.

Now, this may be a dumb question, but how are we taking the pictures of the car in replay mode? Through the photomode and exporting them? Or just simply by snapping a picture with a camera? If its the first, I'd apprecaite someone telling me how to do that, because I'm a little unsure :dunce:

EDIT: Nevermind, I've discovered how to do it.

I thought about this. I'm going to be killed at Indy but I thought it may be needed in we take a trip to nurb or god help us at London with these cars :scared:

Yeah, I'll be at a disadvantage for later rounds I guess. I think London or Eiger could be a good laugh with these cars though.

Two updates:

I will be going on a little trip on June 19, 2011 and so the round next week slated to begin June 13 will not end seven days later on June 20, but rather, four days after, on June 17, 2011. I will also announce the fourth round of the BCC on the 17th.

Also, the Photomode Challenge section has begun. You may check your progress here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=207232

Results are up! It looks like this season is off to a good start.

This week, slip on your dirt tires for this challenge:

Muscle cars, as American TV and action films often show us, aren't just on-road vehicles: the Dukes of Hazzard toss General Lee down dirt roads and off berms, and action film car chases can take muscle cars where they were never meant to go in the first place.

Your task this week is to go to the Eiger Nordwand K Trail Forward and set a lap time.

Good luck, as always, and good driving!

Dodge Power! Friggin' Chevy's. :P Suprised no one has gone for a Ford though.

Hopefully I can claw back some points off-road and in the photomode contest. Hopefully my Vanishing Point homage will do well on the rough stuff. :D

Wow glad to see my Camaro finished 2nd there.

I played around with the limited settings I've got quite a bit and my lap times changed from the 56.995 to 57.005...

Did anybody else do a tire upgrade in their budget?

Wow, I didn't expect first :) I guess having a sheer power tune worked well here

VTiRoj, I wouldn't worry about the off-road section, you were way faster than us lot last season :P I've got another 100bhp on top of last season too, this is going to make for fun rally driving haha.

CMvan46, I upgraded my tyres too. Its usually the first thing I do with each new car in the season.

The Challenger does hold the road better than my RX-7 despite being 100bhp more powerful. Lets hope that is a good thing off-road.

I usually upgrade, I think it's a psychological thing with me - better tyres "must" have more grip. One of the best things about the budget we are set is that I can't go for racing softs, which is a bad habit I usually have, even if it's on a Fiat 500.

I'm surprised my car is the oldest anyone's chosen, but I can understand it because of the "proper" (ie, old) muscle cars I tried out, I think my best time was about 1m10s. The main reason I went for the 2000-model Camaro was the price, I've got lots of fancy upgrades to play around with. I looked at the 2010 model but decided against it because I used that in the first Budget Car Challenge event, it's probably for the best otherwise three of us would have had the same car - at least now I've got an excuse if I'm slower.

I'm very pleased to have got second place for the top speed, I could hit 173mph consistently but it was worth the effort trying to push harder.

As for the photomode challenge, well, as it stands at the moment (after 13 votes), at least nobody can accuse me of voting for myself!

Good luck to everyone for round two.

FML. I've had a massive disaster today. I got home from work about an hour ago with the intent of running a few laps round the Eiger in my Camaro. It was the only thing that kept me going through the long shift haha. I got home, started trialling and within about 30 seconds of getting to the Eiger, my PS3 has YLOD'd on me again :(. I'm so gutted right now. I'm going to have another go at repairing it, but I don't have any flux left at the moment, so I need to order some more. The earliest this will arrive will be the middle of next week. So, I'm afraid I'm out of at least the next round of the American challenge :(

Then, as if that wasn't bad enough, I booted up my PC to come tell you guys about this and it threw the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) up at me. Whats wrong with my technology?!

So, I'll keep you guys updated and let you know when I return. YLOD happened to me a few weeks back (its getting more frequent now) and I returned for the next season as I was able to repair it. Lets hope this is the case here :)

Man, that sucks. Best of luck in getting everything back in order. Especially since you've got a crown to keep this season.
