Normal Service Has Resumed!

I will go through my gMail and get the results for tomorrow, and as for next week, here is your next challenge:

Rear-wheel drive cars are top of the tree when it comes to one classic stunt: drifting.

For your next challenge, you will go to Trial Mountain Forward and drive a full sections drift session.

Regular rules apply, please send me your best cumulative sections score.

I'm rusty...boy is this gonna be entertaining.

I am suddenly not regretting my 400bhp RX-7 on sports hard tyres. :D

Glad you're back Airrider!

I've just realised, I'm on Sports Soft for this. Hopefully 430BHP can overcome that haha. Although, I never was any good at drifting, so I expect to come last this round. Unless I can stick a lucky drift together lol.

I'm guessing were running the sector mode here, and not the full lap drift? :dunce:

I thought Airrider meant full lap when he said full sections but more I think about not sure if he meant single sector mode instead?

^^ Yeah I thought that first, then when I thought about it I thought sector mode.

^ Thanks for clarifying :)

Well, I've had an hour or so at this tonight, I don't seem to be doing anywhere nearly as bad as expected. For some reason, leaving drifting alone for a few weeks and coming back to it cold seems to have worked. I swear I'm better than when I was actually trying to learn how to do it. I still manage to plant it into a wall a fair few times though :P

I know suddenly not investing in a wing or better tires and using the budget for power upgrades looks like it might pay-off this week.:)

I have a wing and right now it's making my RX-7 look like a D1GP car with all the countersteer and smoke going on.

I think I'm doing okay score wise, but I'm a total noob at drifting and I'm learning as I go along. :embarrassed:

Congratulations to VTiRoj on a win in Chamonix!

Everybody brace yourselves: this could be a close Budget Challenge with this Extended Mix of the RWD rules!

Congratulations as well to Off The Bit, the long-overdue Founder's Jackpot winner for the week.

Your prize this week? A hundred thousand credits!

...I hate our GTP banking intermediary.

No freaking way. I did not expect to win the rally round. :boggled:

👍 Well done, a big margin of victory.

Hooray, I finally win something! Maybe Rocky Rodriguez should quit the Grip/Swingman job, he's got a good name for a racing driver.

It's a pity I'm not as good at sliding round Trial Mountain as I was round Chamonix. I'm guessing the booing sounds I keep hearing aren't a sign I'm doing well? :P

I forgot about this being updated! Well done VTiRoj for taking the win. You were much quicker than I was. I'm hoping that my PS3 isn't going to die again, it seems to be having issues with overheating this time. It would be a shame if it did die now, seen as though its going to be a close battle between me and VTiRoj for the win. Or so I hope :P

It all comes down to a drift battle. Reminds me of Initial D.

Results are in.

McRoflSandwich wins the April and May RWD Challenge by a single point! Awesome work!

As for our Founder's Jackpot winner, congratulations to Off The Bit for getting closest to my performance.

I...would have had a prize but it got hacked off of the PSN. Sorry.

I will announce the next Budget Car Challenge rules set sometime this coming week. Keep checking in for an update and keep discussing the challenge! It's your suggestions that made this the most fun Budget Car Challenge yet: it'll be your ideas that keep this competition fresh!

Oh so close! Nice win McRofl! My winning streak was not enough to topple you in the end. :D:tup:

I'm proud of my RX-7 though. Whilst it fails at being a time attack car, it manages to be good at top speed, rallying and drifting. What an oddball.

I agree that this was the most fun season yet. Since the last 3 seasons have been dominated by Japanese cars, would a European or American season be possible?

Wow, I'm genuinley pleased with winning this :D

It was extremely close, just think, if I hadn't had another last minute drift session last night, we would have drawn VTiRoj! My initial score I was going to submit would have put me in 3rd :P

Yeah, my car seemed to have the grip, but yours just seemed to have the sheer power to win the other events.

Yeah, I think it's been my favourite season so far too. I'd definitely be up for a American or European series or something. Possibly another drivetrain restricted event. Maybe a European Hot Hatch series or something like that? I know theres already one out there, but theres nothing stopping us 'borrowing' a few ideas, eh? :P

Congratulations to McRoflSandwich and VTiRoj, so close!

Definitely the most exciting championship so far. I think I paid the price of going all-in with my car setup for the first round, and not thinking about the other races (even though the "dirt/snow tyres needed" rule should have given me a clue! Never mind).

I too like the idea of a US or Europe round, or maybe a competition for ultra-lightweight or heavy cars?

I...would have had a prize but it got hacked off of the PSN. Sorry.

If only I'd thought of that excuse to explain my drifting "performance"... I'm actually fairly pleased I was so close to everyone, I was worried the gap would be worse...

Hey there if this is ever starting up a new season sounds like a cool series and I'd join in for sure. PM me.

Thanks

Oh, don't worry, we're always welcoming new challengers and I'm always trying to think of new challenges.

Alright everyone, I've figured out my ideas for the next Budget Car Challenge season, which will begin Memorial Day, May 30, and run until June 27! Fitting for a season which starts almost coinciding with the Indy 500, we're going American with...

MUSCLE STRAIN: JUNE BCC SEASON

Muscle Strain is an American muscle car challenge, as you can kind of guess. The rules are simple. With a budget of 60,000 CR, you are to go out, buy any kind of historic or modern American muscle car, then prepare it for a series of challenges.

On Memorial Day, I will inform you of your first week's challenge. In the meantime, sniff out a good muscle car, then get it ready for another season of racing!

Ok sounds good sign me up and either tonight or tomorrow night Ill figure out a car to use. And just to be sure I read the OP right, there isnt any meeting in an online lobby just more or less an honour/trust system offline and then send in your best time?

Ok very cool I like that as my work and family life always get in the way of anything organized in games but this works great.

Was in a drifting challenge like this in that "other" racing game once on the "other" system and it was a lot of fun finding a car to actually work.

Gets you driving cars you normally wouldn't

Classic and modern muscle? Ooooh this'll be good. :D Now to decide if I want a fast modern car or a fun classic. 💡

Similar dilemma for me, my head says one thing but my heart says another. I've got the selection down to my final two, but it might come down to the flip of a coin.

I went modern :P I could use the help, I'm not exactly the best driver in the world.

I wonder if this season there may be bonus points for mowing the grass along side of the tracks? I seem to be pretty decent at that.
