I'm irritated! I exited the race because wifey was getting upset as we had out of town guests due (arranged after this race was), and guess what? They're not here. I'm giving my wife the evils at the moment. Grrrr!

Well it would appear that my internet ran out on lap 35 :( disconnected.

Good luck to all. Some great driving and excellent racecraft.

Apologies to Pain and WIDFO for the taps and also to Mic for not letting you by, I knew you were coming but figured you'd draft past, then I looked behind and there you were on my backside like an angry boil

Keep up the great racing :)

No worries HP. I thought you came on the radio and said you were pitting that lap, so i stayed to the right.
I guess it wasn't your Aussie accent I heard declaring they were pitting...DOH!

Great Battle there at the end Cobani 👍

I got a bit too close on lap 71 i think it was and understeered into the Bus Stop and then lost your draft. Barely saved it. Then you got the tow off Paincake a couple laps later and you were gone. Doubt i would have caught back up anyway, Well Raced:cheers:

Wonderful battle with Knukken and Gadget for a few laps there too. I had no idea what kind of tyre strategy you guys were running. It appeared Gadget and Scott were doing something together there...EDIT: surprised you tried to do a one-stopper, i didn't even consider it.

In the end, i had too many incidents beginning with damage on lap 2 that i tried to push through ( i think Cobani had to pit with worse damage) and then I ended up crashing again lap 10 because of the damage. And Finally, i had a massive wreck on lap 22 i think it was as Paincake was waiting at the busstop for his trolley :banghead::irked:🤬🤬 :banghead:

I still can't believe i hit you, i slowed way down when i saw you spin, but there was so much smoke and dust i had no idea where you were. I should have guessed the middle of the track.

Awesome race! 👍 Good, clean driving with little bumps after lap 2 :)

And fyi, two cars side by side through turn 1 is possible

Thoroughly enjoyed that. My 1 stop tactic meant I lead the race for a chunk in the middle, and held second for much longer, but those last 10 laps were a struggle to fight people on fresher tyres off.....though I did try :)

Congrats to Ethan (aka PluxtheDuck) for a great drive and his first win since joining Team Motion Blur for next years N24

yeah, tbh i didnt expect to end on the track, and i didnt have time to reverse really :/ sorry about that, you probs would of won it without that

I wouldn't go that far. Plux was fast! He passed me lap 1 and i never saw him again for the next 74 laps  Nice drive ducky:sly:

Plux was quick. 👍 to you Daffy, you drove well :)

Sorry about leaving on you guys. I had to catch up with some business through texts and much like DaveB's story it was all for nothing...

I was also very tired. Running on only a 3 hour nap before the WEC race I was barely conscious at the end of it. I got some lunch (I'm sure the munching and slurping was heard through the mic before I put it down  ) and I fealt up for the race. I was wrong... After lap 35 I felt like I was trying to drive while on cloud 9. O.o

not gonna lie, being in 4th like in the first few laps, was probs my highlight, other than my 1:53.2 which mind boggled me seeings i only ran a 54.5 before that

Thanks chaps... I would like to say that you all drove excellently 👍 👍 and I'm glad that apart from lap 2, there were no major pile ups. I'm glad I got the double overtake done and was clear of that :scared:

I don't think I was that fast overall, but I had a very stable and balanced set up with minimal downforce, which really helped both my tyre wear and average lap speed. I think I won only because I kept on the black stuff almost the entire time.

However, the last 21 laps driving with a broken shock plus my own cramping knee was not so easy and I lost some 25 seconds to everyone due to errors... :grumpy:

Great racing gentlemen!

My humble apologies for the :ouch: :dunce: :irked: lap 2 incident. Totally my bad as I misjudged the breaking point. Took me quite a few laps to get to grips with the situation and :) again. Sorry I pulled, David, knukken en Mic into it. :indiff:

But!
What a race it became after that! Losing 1.20 minutes so early on meant I was going to attack the track. Had a great time battle with knukken and David and we were flying round Daytona. After the final pitstop with 25 laps to go there were some great battles with Gadget, Mic and knukken. Mic kept me under pressure all the way. Great sportmenship of Mr Paincake for being a pro with the lapping in the final laps. 👍

All in all a great event with fantastic racing, allthough I am still sorry for my clean strike of all the RX7's and Mic. :ouch:

i set out to finish the race (because i rage quit on the last enduro i was in) and i did finish it, i also set out to not be last, and be above HP, all of that happened ;)

Guys, the next race falls on mothers day here in Australia, I propose postponing it by 2 weeks thus keeping our schedule but extending the series by 2 weeks.

Thoughts?

I'm OK with that. As long as the bi weekly is not changed, I'm ok to push everything on a forthnight. Can we see a modified points table please.

I hope to find time to do one of my photo race reports before the weekend

Track Dry – Tyres RM

Lap 2

After the formation lap the first time through the bustop and David gets a bit of a wobble on allowing MichoRexo to pass on the exit.

The first dash down the main straight sees Cobani draft past Mic for the lead. Plux gets a double tow and is catching both cars fast.
Plux is around the outside of Mic, and then dives inside of Cobani to take the lead into T1. His attempt to close the door simply sees him lose another position to Mic’s similar Arta.

30 seconds later Cobani is getting a draft into the bustop, but misjudges his braking and touches Mic causing which in the seconds that follow would result in carnage for the chasing pack.

Cobani and Knukken hit the tyres hard which would require a trip to the pits.

Davidb goes into the wall and takes off MichoRex as he bounces back on track.

Gadget manages to safely negotiate through the wreckage and move smartly from 7th to 3rd. He owes Cobani a pint! Heathenpride, mr_paincake, ANFD and WIDFO and i-was-ere (Scott) also make it safely through to move up the order.

Micho and all three RX7~s are forced to a lap 2 pitstop to repair damage

Positions at end of Lap 3

Lap 4

Another lap, another problem at the bustop as paincake looses it.

As all take avoiding action, Scott rear ends WIDFO, and both sustain damage. Scotts is worse and he~ll need a stop. HP has light diagonal damage but soldiers on.

Lap 7

Ethan laps Micho who seems determined to stay on the lead lap

Positions end of Lap 7

Lap 10

An uncharacteristic error from Mic as he drops an outside wheel onto the grass at Turn 4 sending him arrowing across the track and into the barrier.
Gadget is happy to accept the gifted 2nd place from Mic who pits for repair at the end of the lap, as does Paincake who has suffered heavy damage himself.

Lap 11

A great battle going on between the lap 2 disaster recovering RX7~s of Kev and davidb, currently running 8th and 9th.

Positions end of Lap 11

Lap 12

More backmarker dramas for the leader as Paincake spins right in front of Ethan but luckily no contact is made and little time lost.

The three RX7 of Kev, David and Cobani continue to run with strong pace and progressing through the field. At this stage they occupy 7th, 8th and 9th

Lap 14

HP had been running a solid 4th in the Cusco Scooby, still with light damage from his Lap 4 incident. He has no answer for Mic’s hard charging Arta who passes him on the back straight.

Lap 17

Like Gadget ahead of him in 2nd, ANFD is keeping out of trouble and running at his own pace which currently sees him in a lonely 3rd.

Scott has reeled in HP and makes an easy draft pass for 4th. A fight back into T1 at the start of L18 results in HP hitting the wall and sustaining heavy damage.

Lap 19

The scrapping of the two Cusco’s has allowed Kev to close in and shapes up for a pass on HP.

Lap 21

Paincake has a spin at the bustop again and close following Mic (who’d just set a new fastest lap of the race) makes contact through the plumes of smoke. It’ll be another unscheduled pitstop for Mic but at least this time it’s almost in the window for a 2 stop strategy.

Positions end of Lap 23

Lap 24

The battle for 3rd is really hotting up as Scott’s Scooby is right on the tail of ANFD’s Celica, with Kev and Cobani’s RX7’s also in view.

Lap 25

Scott dives down the inside of ANFD into T4 but doesn’t quite complete the pass.

By the time Scoot does ease past on the start finish straight, Kev is right in the mix as well and pulls off a double draft assisted pass. Nice driving! These three would swap places repeatedly over the next few laps in a great battle. Meanwhile Cobani makes his scheduled pitstop.

Positions at end of Lap 29

Lap 30

Most cars have been in for tyres on around lap 25, but Gadget has stayed out and in doing so picked up the lead from Plux. But the Arta is now much faster and reeling in Gadget at a rate of almost 3 seconds per lap (1:52’s vs 1:55’s).

Lap 31

Scott had fallen a lap down on Gadget when he made his stop, and as Gadget makes room for his Motion Blur teammate to unlap himself into T6, Plux takes a late dive into the gap himself and with it regains a lead.

Micho on fresh tyres unlapping himself from 3rd place Kev, who has not stopped for tyres since his damage enforced stop early in the race.

Lap 37
HP disappears off the lap lap charts with a disconnect.

Lap 40

Gadget finally makes what would be his only pitstop of the race. Kev also makes his stop for tyres.

Lap 42

WIDFO is running consistently in 7th, and puts a lap on Mr Paincake into the bustop.

Positions after 42 laps

Lap 43

Plux is still comfortably leading, and puts a lap on 4th place Gadget into T1. Scott(5th) has been keeping pace with Plux since emerging from his last pitsop, but is a lap down.

MichoRexo pulls into the pits and announces his retirement from the race

Lap 49

All except Plux and Scott are now tyred and fuelled to the finish. Gadget is hanging on in 2nd but his tyres are 13 laps older than most of the others, so will be fighting a rearguard action to salvage as many points as possible in the closing stages. There is an intense battle going on for 4th, as Cobani and Kev’s RX7’s are charging fast, and looming not far behind is Mic’s Arta.

Lap 53 – ANFD announces his retirement and drops off the lap chart.

Lap 56

Gadget now has Cobani, Mic and Kev in close attendance. Cobani would draft past on the next straight.

Positions at end of Lap 56

The podium battle continues as Kev’s RX7 gets past Gadget and Mic to move to 3rd. Cobani has broken away a little in 2nd

Positions at end of lap 70

Lap 73

Scott has caught Gadget in the battle for 5th and 6th and the teammates exchange places multiple times on the run to the flag, but it’s Scott that clinches it with a great recovery drive after early race incident.

Results after 75 laps
To add to the results board we’d have
9th – ANFD DNF 53 laps
10th MichoRexo DNF 43 laps
11th Heathenpride DNF 37 laps

A very dominant win for series debutant Pluxtheduck. He kept out of trouble on the first lap and showed consistency and exceptional pace when needed. In 2nd was Cobani, which was reward for an excellent recovery drive from the back after the lap 2 problems. Mic showed great pace in 3rd, and chased Cobani hard to the finish, but in the end the multiple unscheduled damage repair stops cost him dear.

Nice write-up gadget!👍

The only small tidbit i could add from my perspective was that i sustained right rear damage in that lap 2 incident. I pushed on and was able to turn decent lap times surprisingly, but it was a factor in my lap 10 off (i probably got too overconfident I could deal with it).

Also, i think david_b was the first disconnect. Not sure which lap it was, somewhere in the mid-20's.

Great race everyone.

Mic you are right. I somehow missed David slipping off the lap chart so the final results should show him as 12th DNF 28 laps (approx, it was somewhere between 25 and 30)

Didn't spot your damage Mic as your times were so good I didn't think to look ;)

Great write up boss!

Also WIDFO/David's car are the wrong way round

and you missed me and Paincake's crash on lap 54

I was surprised. I took it easy for a couple laps thinking any overaggression would send me off; and trying to determine if i had to pit.
I realized i could stay within a second of Plux's time and it seemed to allow me to turn ok, so i decided to stay out.

I was hoping to hang on and get to my pit window, but one micro lapse and i touched the grass and spun into the wall. It was a risk / reward situation.

I didn't really realize during the race that so many got caught up in that Lap2 incident. I just know I was stoked to have fought my way back onto the podium. I fully expected to finish towards the bottom after that crash.
The second crash with Paincake didn't really cost me quite as much, because a pit window was coming up anyway as you mentioned. I did end up having to go 30 laps in that next stint because of it, but that only cost probably 15 or 20 seconds extra including the crash itself.

Sidenote:
Paincake, bud, if you want to enter these fun FULL DAMAGE endurance races, you really need to make sure you're properly prepared. Incidents happen to all of us and I want you to be in the series, but you can't put other's races at risk due to your inability to handle the situation yet. FULL DAMAGE races are not to be taken lightly; they are not as casual as some of our other races. Work your way up to it or be sure to put in hours and hours of practice so you can comfortably turn every lap on your own without crashing/spinning. Start working on SPA now if you plan to join in. That's all I really want to say on the matter.
Keep Practicing! I look forward to seeing you on track soon 👍

From my perspective, it means i'll miss the Le Sarthe Race instead of the Nurburgring Race. (vacation Jun 1st to 9th) I was really looking forward to the Le Sarthe race as i've never done an enduro there before.

otherwise i've got nothing to add to the topic :D

In the OP on car selection I noticed that I have a RX7 next to my name. I have been running he Celica up to now. Should I change my car?💡

The question is who posted first re Celica? My b'day weekend this weekend, I won't be online significantly to check until Tuesday, any volunteers?

ive been running spa a bit, feeling like a bull in a china shop with a blind fold on in what to do to the tune, i run around 2:34 laps :/ retirement may already be a question for me not gonna lie.

I think I can handle things for you on the thread, as for the race I don't believe so, any issues arise I cannot sort a quick SMS will do the trick,

as for Celica's, I believe I may have been first, but if Johan makes every event then its his, I probably will only make Le Mans at this point,

Also, fellow CRAPers who run the WEC, This week is a 2.5 hour event, so I will understand if you choose not to run in it to run in this, And after this week there will be a 3 week break between rounds, thus moving WEC to the alternate week of the GT300 events, and Plux's series will be relocated to that time slot, Time constraints are getting rather tight and it is not expected of you to run 2.5 hours with me then the length of the endurance race here immediately after, we aren't super hero's, good luck too all

Happy birthday mate, Have a good one, if not have a big one!
