Hmm, this got me thinking. Has anyone taken a look at Arcade Mode 2.0 to see what new content is available there? I just saw a post that the karts from the DLC pack are drivable in arcade mode...

I think if the karts are there, which are supposed to be DLC, then its possible all the DLC was included in Spec II and will be unlocked when you pay for it at the playstation store.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It's a CAPPUCCINO!!!

Gordon, Jeff is confused. Haha!

On a more serious note, I am still trying to decide what exactly happened to my Capp because I am not seeing an improvement in lap times like everyone else is claiming to have experienced. What kind of lap times are people seeing at GVR?

Jeff is confused: "What am I doing in a Fiat??"

I don't think we're necessarily seeing improved lap times at all tracks, but more improved drive-ability. For me, it's much less of a struggle to get the Capp to turn or to keep it pointed straight. I may not be faster but I sure ENJOY driving it more now than I did pre-Spec 2. This is all a hot topic of debate but I know Yuri has done some extensive testing on lap times vs. drive-ability and got some very interesting results. I'll let him chime in with more detail.

I did some practicing around GV-R last night, not enough to get super consistent laps but enough that I started to feel very comfortable/confident. I got down to a 2:10.9xx but I think I probably have another 1-2 seconds out there. Historically I'm usually 1-2 seconds of the pace of the fast guys but at a long track like this it's probably more like 3-4 seconds off the pace. So maybe 2:06-2:07's are possible?

I've seen no improvement in lap times since 2.0.The car feels sharper on initial turn in and i have noticed more exit understeer. The late push is probably my fault trying to carry too much speed out of the corner. The car will still try to snap oversteer at the banked horseshoe.

My best lap so far is a 2'07.3 but its very difficult to string 3 great sectors together.I perfect lap on warm tires should be a high 5-low 6 im guessing.

So are all the improvements in lap times that Yuri has experienced due to him leaving tire wear set to off?

He had the same lap times at Suzuka and only gained a half second at Madrid. Knowing Yuri though, he probably had SRF on. ;)

Okay so I'm not a rocket scientist...lol. I never realized the default setting changed in the lounges and my initial testing was with tire wear off. Once I put it back on...back to normal times...lol. I didn't go back to Madrid, but went to Tsukuba and although the car feels better, times were the same.

So ignore everything I said about improved laptimes..lol...and probably everything else from now on... :yuck:

I think the update made my tune obsolete, I cant get fater at Grand Valley than 2:15's. The car feels less stable to me and I can barely make it around one full lap with out spinning.

D'oh!
It took me a few tries before I realized that the tire/fuel wear was now set to "off" as the default, previously the default setting was "on" so I got in the habit of not messing with it.

I'm still using the Option 1 setup in the Tuning Shop and my car felt pretty stable around all parts of Grand Valley Reverse. I was able to run up on kerbs and trail brake into the hairpins. If you're not running that setup I'd recommend giving it a go, but it may not work for everyone's driving style. If you are using that setup, try Option 2. I haven't tried that setup since the update so I can't say how it will feel.

Friendly reminder to everyone, the lounge will be open at our normal time of 9pm EDT tonight and I'll probably be on until after 11. We're going to do a couple races at Suzuka East with the second being reverse grid, this way we can collect some Spec 2 data to compare against our Round 1 races. We might do Madrid Mini too, but I think that might not be a good idea. lol Probably do some racing at GV-R too. 👍 I'll post details here when the lounge is open.

Found some shots (courtesy of amar212) of the new Kart Space track. It looks to be a little bit wider than I expected but it's hard to tell for sure. Anyway, thought I'd share. :)

EDIT: Looks like it may only be possible to run karts on the new kart track. Ah well.

Regarding lap times, I think I fell into the same trap as Yuri. I was running some practice in another series the other night and realized the default was low grip and tire wear off. When put on real grip and tire wear on, my lap times were right around where they were before.

"Real" grip only refers to grip off the track or in the wet...it doesn't have anything to do with the grip on the tarmac. I'm kinda relieved...no one piled on me...lol.

Speaking of Karts I dug this out of Youtube...this is the Kart I wanted in GT5 from the beginning...this video will give you a 30 second idea of what a good shifter kart is capable of.

Thanks for the link Brandon. After reading through it I saw Amar posted this...

"Apparently when owner of the Lounge have DLC track enabled, all people in his Lobby can can use it."

That's good news if people do not want to purchase the DLC for whatever reason.

Also, at the top of the post when he's showing the cart tracks, he is in a formula car at the time. Maybe we will be able to drive cars on the cart tracks. Having never raced on either tracks, it looks like the cart tracks are better suited for our Caps than Spa with it's long straights haha.

Looking forward to this release :)

My lounge is open for practice, bring your Capp's out for some practice and testing.

That track is SICK!!! very excited. I know what Spa is and all. However have no clue how to drive around it. I prob make 100 laps first day. Hahaha

I at least know the lines from GT Legends, so it won't be too bad. I prefer the 1967 layout though :D

The Lounge is now open for practice and testing. Last night we tested with the slipstream on weak so today I'd like to try some with it on strong. I've read that even strong is weaker than the ore 2.0 slipstream and since passing on short tracks proved to be rather difficult with it on weak let's see what the difference is.

I just witnessed one of the worst crashes in Indy history. Cars on fire, it was horrible. I never thought I'd be so shaken up by seeing something like this in person. I guess I might've felt it more 'cause I just watched Senna in theatres so the impact is really something else to see.

Someone's getting airlifted now, crazy. Hope every one comes out ok. Unfortunately Will Power (Mark Webber's friend) was involved and so the championship was just decided. Dario's a four-time champ.

Sorry if it's off topic, I just thought I'd share 'cause we're on a red flag right now and I know Owens and Brandon are big Indy fans.
