Also, here's some things to try to assist in reducing connectivity issues (if it's actually our fault and not the networks)

-Clear cache in GT5 (and even in the web browser)
-Restart PS3
-Restart Router
-Used automatic settings on router and PS3 and different settings
-Set router to DMZ
-Set static IP on PS3 and forwarded ports (as referred to in the manual)
-Removed firewall
-Gone from wireless to wire
-Turned off all computers and other stuff
-Connected PS3 directly to router without anything else on
-Called/connected internet supplier and got the line checked

The other big thing is to reset your modem. To do this you simply need to unplug the power to your modem for approximately 60 seconds then power it back up. I do it while GT5 is starting up.

Here are highlights from the photo finish last night between Brosif and Luxy. Watching the replay it's pretty clear that Brosif barely nipped him at the line but it must have been less than .001 second difference since it showed them as a tie. Either way, an incredible finish after 20 laps and a pit-stop! 👍 guys.

You can tell from the replay that we were still dealing with some Surging Sallys. I was actually expecting Luxy to defend the inside and was rather surprised when he didn't. I had been testing the draft for the previous five laps to see what type of run I could get off the last corner and was fairly certain I could complete a pass before the line. But non of that was necessary in the end. Good race Luxy! And Yuri, who was with the two of us until he got shuffled at the pit stops.

Attempt 1 i was still blackscreened when the race started, my count down was 5 second behind where it should have been, I didn't even have a HUD until T1, then the framerate dropped during the T1 incident. After I cleared that it felt okay, but not great.

Attempt 2 everything ran perfectly for me. Loaded all cars, no issues.

The actual race, again perfect, just like racing offline, no jumpy cars or odd physics. I guess if other were having these issues it explains how I managed to climb up the gid.

Cappy cup needs more horrible drivers, so I have someone to race against. Getting better is hard :)

Learned a lot in that race, see you again on Friday

I was wondering if I could run the last couple Fridays of this series? I never was able to run on Fridays because of work but I changed up my schedule a bit so Fridays work for me now. :)

Added to the OP. 👍

Sounds good! I've added you to the registration. See you Friday.

Man I missed out on a good battle!! Brosif and Luxy and I were toe to toe until the pit stop. When I came out of the pits they were already fairly close to me on the front straight and I just couldn't catch the draft. Once I was a second behind I fell further behind in spite of running faster laps then I qualified with. Too bad...a three way photo finish would have been spectacular!!

My feeling is that we should ensure Brandon is always the host for one thing. The other is, I believe these are network related issues, and altough we should make our best effort to mitigate it by clearing our cache's, rebooting our routers etc as a routine thing, I think it's just sheer volume again on the network. I got the "network is too busy" message a couple of times when trying to join some rooms and I haven't seen that for a long time.

Gave the new kart track a spin last night. It's a fun track, seems fast because it's tight, but my top speed was around 105 km/h I think. It really separates the men from the boys though. The big tracks like Tsukuba with one or two real corners that are still fairly fast don't take a lot of skill. The smaller, tight track really puts the karts at their limit. Racing on it was great...if you started and stayed up front...back in the pack...not so good...lol. A lot of guys really struggled on it.

I look forward to running this Friday, reading through the rules and regs, it looks like you can drop two rounds. So technically I could still be in contention for the championship if I make the remaining races and use my two drops for the rounds I missed?? Hopefully I can make some noise at the pointy end of this group.:nervous:

There was a weird temporal distortion in turns 2-3 entering the first tunnel during the entire race but my lap times were consistent over the 20 laps. The first two attempts were much worse when the frame rate went into slow motion and then Owens and Lancer both went flying by like they were in GT300 cars.

The 2nd grid reform didnt seem to work right as it put Brosif on pole when i was parked ahead of him.For whatever reason my leader board wouldnt update and it kept showing me behind him even though i was parked 30 ft ahead. It worked out ok as he let me by at the start

I was a little worried about the pit stop since i was located near pit in and thought i was going to be held up by other cars entering the pits.Yuri came in about 15 sec behind me and there was a slight delay when my car slowed down to watch his car pit.In the end i think he got the worst of it as he lost 1-2 positions.I only lost 3 sec but alot of that was probably due to Brosif stopping on lap 2 laps before and was on fresh tires.

Brandon-Next weeks oval is in your track list?

Didn't he pass you at some point on the track though and then let you by? I think once that happens it stays that way until a lap is completed. I don't know that for sure though, the system is screwy. I don't like that the on-track leaderboard doesn't always show the correct info because it causes a lot of confusion. I did notice that even though it put you in 2nd on the grid it put you on the inside line which is usually the preferred line (but maybe not at this track!). Oh well, with the group of ultra well-behaved racers we pulled it off without any serious problems.

The custom oval should be shared on my profile right now. I believe it's called Cappy Oval 1.62 or something along those lines. If it's not up there let me know and I'll get it shared after work tonight.

Has anyone got any work done today? :)
I know I've not got much done and it's almost time to go home!

Trying not to.

After the pit stops I was gaining on Torzilla, but still a couple of seconds back, but one he and Brandon hooked up, the pair just pulled away. I was pushing it as hard as I could trying to catch the pair, they looked to be having a good battle and I wanted to get in on it. Inevitably I tried to get the Capp to do the impossible and ate wall.

Set up option 1 is working for me, it eats the front tiers though, I might try my pre-spec II set up, but I think the weak link is me, not the set up.

I'm glad you guys in 2nd - 4th were having a good battle, I got awful lonely back in 5th... lol

I stayed within a couple of seconds until I pitted, after the stop I was putting together some very good laps but I couldn't make up any ground without a draft.

Wait, you guys did a second restart?
And who was the one to drop-out to make it 12?

Yes. You, Owens and Lancer left before we did the 2nd restart. Then cBc got disconnected during the race and Cami put himself in the sin-bin for an unsafe track re-entry and withdrew, so we finished with 11.

You got it!

Yeah i passed him before the kink.

...Lancer both went flying by like they were in GT300 cars.

I don't know what it was, but I was flying by everyone like i was in an NSX and they were in GT300. That's why I didn't like the restarts :D

Start 1: Very frame-rate laggy, went from 6th to 1st in two turns.
Start 2: Better frame-rate, cars jumped forward and back a bit. Went from 7th to 2nd in two turns, took lead in next straight.

My lounge is open at Spa if anyone wants to see it.

Can you leave it open for a few hours??? I will be home in an hour or so and I haven't had a chance to visit the wonderful healing waters of Belgium.

Is Spa default map in your lounge? I hear that if it is - we can run there even if you're offline.

It sure is and Brandon has confirmed that this 'feature' works.
Help yourselves! Just make sure you leave it tidy! :)

2:47.247 is my best in the capp with my setup for gvr.

Great!! Gonna try it later today.

Confirmed! I opened RDAardvark's lounge when he wasn't in it and it loaded up Spa! Very sweet! Enjoy boys, but please don't pee on any of his beautiful Belgian trees. ;)

This requires getting a proper photo finish photo done with the camera positioned at the finish line like they do in horse racing if you ask me.

If anyone is inquiring about my disappearance past the half-way point last night, here's what happened. On Lap 12 I lost control of the car out of the final hairpin when I drove it onto the grass near the dogleg. I figured I should make the mandatory pitstop then and there since I was just about across from the pit entrance. Unfortunately, I pulled out onto the track and clipped Torzilla and thought to myself, 'I didn't reenter the track in a safe manner.' So, I exited the race as a bit of a self-enforced penalty. Sorry about that, Tor... :(

This thought came to my mind as I saw this article here and remembering the tribute photoshoot we did earlier this week, maybe we can do a tribute race this Sunday afternoon with a 77 kilometer or 77 mile race on the Indy Oval?

There currently three of us in RDAardvark's lounge where we are lapping Spa. Feel free to join as we are just practicing and it's nice to have drivers on this huge track.

The Capp is a great fit at Spa.I was hitting 132 mph on the Kemmel straight.
Ran a couple of laps. Is that 132 in draft? Otherwise I'll have to do some serious messing with gears. With my current gearing even with no downforce and lifted like a truck I barely hit 128 once on my own. I suppose gears have to be adjusted so that I'm hitting peak HP when going uphill.
