Just wanted to say, that I very much enjoyed the race yesterday. Clean, fun race and friendly co-racers.. what else to ask for..?! :D
Hmmm... Maybe better skills for my own driving.. Hmm...

The only one thing to spoil the race for me..: I didn't succeeded in taking the last spot as promised.. CAMikaze seemed determined to 'beat' me for that spot.. :P

I will be there for the next race.. That's for sure..!

Really glad to hear this. The cappuccino is a strange beast and takes a lot of practise to get used to. Keep an eye on here for test session announcements - I'll hopefully hold one on Wednesday evening but I'll post on here to confirm.

This is a good option, but since I dont use a mic the sound comes directly through my tv speakers. I could put everyone on mute but I dont know of a way to mute all the mics in a room at once, so Id have to go into the lobby and mute people as they come in the room. It just seems easier if people would stay quiet untill the race is over.

I recommend that you grab a cheap blue tooth war piece or any USB driven headsets. With or with out mic.

The headsets can be had for 10-300 dollars. We use a cheap 25 dollar pair of PC head phones with boom mic on my kids PS3. My oldest prefers these over the Bluetooth. I prefer a blue tooth. Open ears to here my car.

Any type of USB speaker may work to send that sound from mics noise too.

I have a head set on so I can hear the chatter. Just found my old Sony bluetooth mic, so I might switch to that and say hi.

Since the race is still in progress I believe the rules apply ;)

11. Please keep chat box and mic chatter to a minimum during qualifying and racing.

I agree with Blind, Im really not looking to get into a debate over this issue. All Im asking is for the level of respect to other racers and following of the rules be continued untill everyone crosses the finish line.

So next is the oval, I have no idea how to race on an oval, any tips?
You need a car that is free in the turns-loose is fast.A setup will do you no good unless you find the proper turn in point for the 2 tight turns.Pick out a bush, tree,or post and use that as the braking point.A downshift to 4th and a slight tap of the brakes is all thats needed for this track.

Momentum is the key here. Its not like a road course where you can make a mistake in the first 3/4 of the lap and not have it affect the next lap.Dont be afraid to go a little slower out of the turns because contact with the invisible wall will probably take 2 laps to make up.

I would have 2 setups for this track. One with shorter gearing for qualifying and one that is geared for a race draft.

Everybody be careful on the last turn. The invisible wall comes in very close to the edge of the track just before the first pit entry sign. You can get about half the car off the track before this point but dont try to run that wide line for very long.

What iForce said...plus make sure you download the oval to practice on from Brandons online tracks. The invisible walls are a bugger...lol. I suggest to get in some practice both alone and with some draft. The track is deceptively fast. A small mistake, or more like a small missed opportunity for speed in the first corner, affects the whole lap. Practice getting through there and the last corner with as fast an exit speed as possible for qualifying, but also in practice try to run some inside and outside lines in case you have to run in traffic. Holding a tight line or a wide line in the first corner can be tricky, and holding an outside line in the last corner can be tricky, so practice both.

Since brakes aren't used much you may want to turn down the brake balance so that you don't accidentally overbrake. Set your top speed so you are closing in on 8000 rpm on the end of the back straight, but leave some room for drafting.

Anyone gonna be around tomorrow evening for practice? I'd like to work on gear ratios and drafting before Tuesday.

Yes, I'll likely have a practice room open around 7pm EDT so we can test out the draft and the Fixed Host room.

Picked up these beauties today. ;)

:ill: Things you think about at 3:00am because you're dying from sinus congestion and can't sleep :ill:

Because the DLC comes out for the NA market on Tuesday, I wonder how much worse the problems with lag and surging will be during this weeks races?

There's maintenance scheduled for today:
USA - Between 7am and 11am EDT
UK - Between 12pm and 4pm BST

Good luck with the sinuses - Steam may help.

Hope you left enough $$$ for your DLC!

Already have my PSN card purchased! I finally got the insurance money from my motorcycle accident so I had a bit of coin to buy a new toy. The headset was only USD$60 at my local Best Buy and it has all the features of the $100+ models. I can hear both game and chat audio through them and can control the volume for each independently. The sound quality is very good too, I'm quite pleased!!

Great to hear! It was a pleasure having you and we look forward to seeing you at more races. 👍

So...I got disconnected tonight. Like during the 6th lap. I can't come to Saturday's race. So this kinda has to be my result. What happens? Do we pretend my gearbox failed and I get a DNF?

Sorry that I'm just getting back to you, I didn't see this post until today. We all drop our two worst weeks at the end of the season so hopefully this can just count as one of the weeks you drop.

Hopefully the connection/congestion issues clear up soon but with the NA DLC being release tonight/tomorrow I'm expecting another rough week. I will be switching the room to a "fixed host" status for this week's races, we'll see if that nets any improvement.

Thanks for clearing that up. Connection is getting worse everyday. I think everyone who had GT5 and never played it are just now jumping online. PD needs to ask Santa for some dedicated servers this Christmas.

Not to beat a dead horse but... Why can't we try to run a week in the open lobby instead of someones lounge? I know you have to deal with the occasional random popping in, but I think everyone knows each other pretty well and its not hard to press the "reject player" option. JMO of course but whenever I have raced in a series, the only times there were problems was when it was in a private lounge.

My lounge is open for practice. I have it in an open lobby tonight with Fixed Host status (not available in my lounge). We'll see how many randoms show up. :dunce:

*CLOSED*

We can try the open lobby, but the complication is, whenever the host is qualifying, the rest of us will have to reject vote anyone that comes in that's not a member right away. You don't want some clown to get out on track with a different car while the rest of the group including the host is trying to qualify. And since at least half of the group will be on track qualifying and you need a majority to reject vote someone, it may not happen until we can all vote.

I've had plenty of connection issues the last week in all kinds of lobbies, including open lobbies, so I don't think that's a cure all anyway...but I could be wrong.

I think it is PSN/PD, I couldn't even get into my own lobby last night, and two of the guys I hang out with had unplayable lag when it is usually rock solid. Open Lobby make me a little nervous, it only takes one idiot and the Internet is full of them.

Exactly why I hate doing open lobby's. Plus the chat box is constantly popping up as they enter/leave the room which is distracting.

^Same. I've never noticed differences between public and private rooms, and the downsides outweigh the positives.

I don't like having to add every one on the driver list to start a series, that's about it. The tires taking longer to warm-up's trivial.

Hope you have better luck with those TB's than I did.

I just got this set of Sharkoon's:
http://www.amazon.com/Sharkoon-X-Tatic-SP-Gaming-Headset-Linux/dp/tags-on-product/B0042PUW2A

and couldn't be happier.

So far their fantastic. Leaps and bounds better than the Logitech's I returned. I've never used a USB headset before though so I don't know how they compare to others. They seem to be very similar to yours, pretty much the same price too. The sound quality seems great to me.

What kind of issue did you have? Anything I should keep my eye on?

Based off the races we did last night with weak and strong draft, I'd say the weak draft is probably more accurate & realistic, however the strong draft sure was a lot of fun (minus a collision with IForceV8, sorry about that).

What are we running tonight?

Did you have any connection problems last night?
Anyone been on their PS3 today?

I hosted a non-Cappuccino race last night and only our Italian and South African racers had problems. We had 'merkins, Brits, Irish, Germans and Danish there who all stayed connected. There was an outage on the European servers yesterday so I'm hoping things have been fixed.
