I'm preparing for a race tomorrow right now, however I may be round near 7-8 this evening to run some laps.

Here's what my wheel does. I may have found some info about what the problem is and it may be something that can be fixed. I'm going to dig into it tomorrow.

I'm a bit later than intended, but I'll be hopping in the room for a few laps momentarily.

Edit: Checking out. Catch up with you folks later on.

Have you seen the movie "The Exorcist"? Your wheel is obviously possessed..:sly:

I did some work on it yesterday and I think I got the original problem sorted but caused another one in the process. Now it only turns about 5 degrees and then stops. There is a little plastic wheel that "they" recommend putting a dab of glue on so it doesn't slip on it's metal post (this addresses the original "off center" issue). I did this but must have gotten some glue over a couple little holes that light needs to pass through. I'm hoping if I fix that everything will be back in order. I'll tear into it sometime this week.

I will have to take a look at the G27. I've only ever had a DFP, DFGT, and G25s. I've had rheostats go, bearings and hard parts wear out, but never any problems with the pickups on the wheel itself.

In my opinion, a wheel(and pedal/shifter) is a wear item.

Having said that, I have managed to keep my original G25 going by replacing individual parts as they go, but it is more vague in feel than new as not all of the parts that wear are replaceable. I use now a newer G25 unit than my original(I prefer the simpler wheel of the G25 to the G27) with completely stock G25 pedals. The original is a spare.

I may be around this evening; if anyone would like to run some laps just post in here. I need the practice.

...Bueller....Bueller....Bueller...

I hope to work on the wheel Sunday, it's either going to be a simple fix or unsalvageable, I'm hoping for the former. Found out this week that my shower somehow developed a leak and was draining into the apartment below me so I've been dealing with that and getting everything cleaned up and moved out of the way so they can come remove it and put in a new one. So I haven't been able to work on the G27. I'll admit, all the recent news does have me a little more excited to play again.

Wow, so it's been quite the week from the sound of it. Moisture issues are never a quick and easy remedy. We could always run a DS3 friendly car during the interim. It is a unique perspective sitting in a rig with a controller haha.

If anyone would like to run at all this afternoon/evening; just post in here as I'll be round the system between tasks.

Another 7 minutes.

.

Ive been thinking that new American muscle cars or vintage Japanese cars on the Motegi oval would be fun.

That's not a bad idea, as the DS3 has a max steering angle limit for a given speed and the ovals you are mostly applying the proper amount of front axle grip and adjusting the balance to taste with throttle lift and braking.

I'd run DS3 for field leveling purposes.

You get your wheel fixed yet?

Gonna dig into it after work tonight, gonna take an hour or two but I'm pretty sure I know what I need to do. It's either a "simple" fix or unsalvageable. I'm hoping for the former, obviously.

What's wrong with your avatar?? :boggled:

Good news and bad news. The bad news is that the part in question is damaged beyond repair. The good news is that this part can be purchased for $30 and is made of metal so this problem can't happen again in the future. I'm going to look into getting one ordered but unfortunately I will be out of commission until it arrives and it's not 100% that I haven't damaged something else during these dismantlings. I do know a tiny wire has been severed that seems to connect to the red buttons on the wheel itself, I'm hoping I will just lose the use of one of those buttons (no biggie) and no other harm is done.

Hopefully the replacement part will remedy the issue. You can always splice the wire for the wheel button if necessary. I only use one of the wheel buttons; for the rearview.

You must use that alot since you're usually in front.:lol::lol:

Haaha I do tend to drive in the mirrors both in real life and the game. It is not for the reasons perhaps implied but rather most often used in the braking zones and corner entries to compensate for traffic. That is why anyone here can assume when closing upon me that I am aware of your position. In a braking zone I may pull out of your line if you are hauling it in beyond recovery(as in nothing is going to stop you from going off and taking me off with you), or I may stay in line and compensate with my own braking to slow us both. In short, if you contact the back of my car under braking I knew it was coming and am prepared to keep us both on track under most conditions. That is where my past statement 'I bring enough brakes for the whole class,' comes from.

Driving in the mirrors is a limiting factor in real life, and in an odd manner it seems to turn off at the important events and moments when foward focus is most required. I find upon the occasion that I hop into someone else's car that has their mirrors turned away from them that I adjust them for my purposes. Some people turn their mirrors so that they cannot see them, in hopes that such will prevent them from taking the time and looking at them distracting themselves.

I'm at a show right now, however I will be back within an hour or so. If there are any other insomniacs, speed freaks, methheads, snuff queens, the disrupted, and other nocturnals; I'll be around brushing off the corrosion. Looking for you, Yayo Ming.

Did an Evo Phase 1 autox school today. Saw the '11 US GTA champ there, sadly didn't get him to instruct me. Overall it's a very mixed bag. While driving was fun and instructors were pretty good, I also got a reminder just how much I hate it when the event is poorly and inefficiently run.

So I guess I'll focus on tracking the car this season.

Look where I got to drive my Subaru today!
