My career is over. I got a failure to save message. I deleted a bunch of replays and it quit giving the save error message but when next I tried loading the game kept getting a failure to load. I'm stuck having to start over. The incompetent buffoons at SMS have known about this issue but have failed to resolve it and failed to even warn people that replays can cause this problem.

Uhm, doesnt the Xbone have a cloud saving feature that should allow you to download your latest uncurrupted save game? Not sure since I m on PS4, but I thought I remembered the Xbone having that feature and the Mircosofties mentioning "the cloud" about a gazillion times during the presentation of the console.

The only time road cars have come up in my career is invitationals at the end of a season, unless you are referring to GT/touring cars. In which case yes, you can do a few seasons then jump across to open wheelers. I'm not sure if you can go straight to formula A without winning one of the other lower tier open wheel championships - maybe someone else can help with that part of your question.

The other option is just start a career in Formula A from the beginning.

Thanks, yeah I wouldn't mind say hopping over to Formula B, but I think, while I've started from the start, I might as well do Zero to hero.

I still can't unlock this invitational events:
- 175 laps
- 2 & 4 team championships

They are clearly bugged, anyone managed to unlock them?

thanks

Completed 2nd season in 250cc Superkarts running 100% race length (10 + 15 laps each event), 70% AI. Going for zero to hero. These superkarts were really fun! And learned some new tracks. When running longer races you can really improve your laptimes and I'm sure I will remember track if I come back later. In the end of season I was faster than AI 4-6 seconds per lap. As a result I'll increase AI level to 80% for next season.

Question - how long are the 100% races and how many career races are there in other tiers?
Curently I'm skipping all the other events since I don't like switching cars each race.

Is it always the same contract offers at the start of a career ? So say if I want to start a new career in GT4 it will be the BMW or the Mustang as that's what I normally get ! Would love the Ginetta or Aston

To my knowledge, yes. In GT3, I always get offers to drive a Mercedes, a RUF, or the BMW M3 on a career starting there, so I'm assuming other classes will be the same way.

Thanks for the reply , I guess I'll have to compete in another class and get a contract offer .

Finally went to a different series! About time lol I been getting tired of LMP1 I did 4 seasons of it. I love driving them but I need a long break from driving them for a while. So what series did I sign to? GT4:D Going to be driving the Aston Martin V8 vantage GT4. So I might spend a few seasons in this series. Looks like I'm about to have a blast in this series.:)

A GT refugee and fairly new to PCars because I was a little leery of the reports of bugs and the delays on release. With regard to the career I have found it somewhat confusing. After signing a contract to compete in a particular team I was then drowning in invitationals which I thought had to be completed. After discovering this isn't the case I am now going to concentrate more on my 'team' commitments.
Much like most, I found the entry karts to be a bit ordinary. I think its the tight windy circuits and twitchy nature of the karts themselves. I found the power karts to be much more fun. I am now running in the Caterham LMP3 and loving it. I thought the Clio felt like a pushing a big lump of lard around so discarded that invitation. The Formula 1? was very tempting but I liked the added adrenalin with the Catersham being a bit quicker but really fun to drive. Feel like I'll use this one for the three season thing. Not sure if I'll bother with the zero to hero trophy, I don't do well with the really quick cars.
So far I've had quite a lot of fun although the rain has ruined a few experiences for me. I had to put the game away for some 'time out' a couple of times due to huge frustration. This is the main reason I am going to avoid invitationals from now on unless the cars are really nice to drive. For me, the rain is completely overdone. I also seem to experience some issues with inconsistency on some cars or perhaps it is the game is better than I expected ie tyre heat included in the physics application?? I am sure you blokes would know better than me, I am just a 61 year old gamer, and not dreaming of being the next Jack Brabham :).
One thing that has frustrated me no end is not being able to find the key designations for the keyboard. I know I can map buttons on my wheel but I would have thought there would be keyboard assignments for things like headlights and telling the co-driver to return to pits etc. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I am running on my own build PC using an AMD quad core with 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD and GTX750 with 2GB RAM. I have a G27 running in a custom built frame etc.

You can assign headlights etc to any keyboard key you want in options -> controls -> edit assignments (2nd grey tab on top IIRC). Just click on the function you want to assign a key to (headlights etc), then press the desired key to assign it.

Cheers, my bad, I thought that only related to the wheel.

IS the Audi A1 slow? I just used it in an invitational and got wiped all over the floor. I couldn't keep up with the other cars on the grid.

I couldn't find any way of truly getting more speed out of it. It seems slow at top speed and didn't even have good acceleration to make up for it. Handled reasonably well though.

I just started an invitational and was able to choose my car and livery, is this something that was introduced recently, or did I just not notice it before?

After three seasons Clio Cup and one season LMP1 in the RWD P30, I now signed a contract for Red Raven (McLaren 12C GT-3). See how that turns out...

That's crazy, I did 3 seasons with the Clios, now my 4th season is... RWD P30

I'm thinking about starting again though, I drove the GT4 beemer online last night and loved it, so might go down the touring car route.

Maybe you are also a big fan of open wheelers ...

I wasn't interested in open wheelers, but a few weeks ago drove a few races in the Formula Gulfs, so now I want to do them too.
That's what I mean when I say I feel I've barely scratched the surface in career mode. So much choice!!

Open wheelers will have to wait.

Anyone know a good set up for the BAC Mono around Brands Hatch GP? I'm in my second season (started with karts, moving to superkarts) and I got the brands invitational. I'm skipping most invitational but wanted to do this one.

..
For season 3 I chose Clio cup and 80% AI. At first I thought level was too high but after some practice and getting used to the car I actually wanted to increase level to 90%... but upgraded to Win10 to activate it and then clean install. As a result all save files are gone :D
Started career again and this time with 90% AI in 125cc karts. Seems more interesting - I usually win if do not make mistakes but since it's rarely the case with 100% race length then I have a chance to catch up few places.
When I'll get back to Clio cup then I might increase difficulty to 95% or 100%.
Completed 10 races (5 rounds) today and feel like I've done some workout or smth.

Finally got around to starting my career today. Decided to jump right in with GT4 cars in the Asia-Pacific Trophy. I took the M3 because I don't like how the Mustang drives, so that said it was off to Dubai, and racing on the Autodrome International layout.

Practice was all getting to know the car and the fuel figures. Weather was predictably gorgeous, so it was basically guaranteed to be a dry weekend. Played around a bit with the setup to get it feeling good and worked out my per-lap consumption. Ended up 5th fastest in practice, and rolled on to qualifying.

Q1 went pretty smoothly. Hazy weather affected visibility, but not enough to make a difference. Put in a time with 5 minutes left that had me 3rd on the grid so I called it, only to have someone pip me and end up 4th right at the very end. Q2 was the same story more or less, except the weather cleared up nicely. Couldn't quite string together a perfect lap, so I ended up 4th again. No worries there, second row on the grid in my first race isn't bad.

On to the sprint race, 12 laps in the afternoon heat. I'd never done a rolling start before and it caught me out badly. By the time we crossed the lights I was down to 6th, with 7th right next to me. I managed to out-brake the 5th place BMW into turn 1 (is the first corner here technically considered turns 1 & 2..? I will refer to it as turns 1&2 for this write-up and count off accordingly from there) and came out even with the 4th placed Aston. The turn 3/4 chicane saw me coming out even with him as we flew down the back straight. Out-braked him into 5 and got myself up to 4th easily. Trailed the 3rd place Aston for two laps before out-braking him into turn 6.

Found myself in 3rd with 8 laps to go, and a 5 second gap to 2nd. The Aston kept hounding me, finally re-passing me on lap 9 in turn 5. He never managed to pull out, but I wasn't able to make any move stick, so I came across the line in 4th. Not bad for my first try, finished where I started.

I decided to let my wheel cool down for a minute and played a couple quick games of Rocket League before jumping back in the seat for the main race. The main race is 24 laps here with a mandatory pit stop for tires. The race started later in the evening with clear skies and no change in the forecast.

I was more on top of the rolling start this time and actually managed to cross the lights in 3rd. I out-braked the 2nd place Ginetta and found myself chasing the leader down the back straight! The now-3rd-placed Ginetta was hard on me though, but with a tricky bit of bait-and-switch into 5 I was able to get him off-line enough that the 4th placed Aston managed to sneak past him and gave me a bit of breathing room. The 1st place Ginetta was steadily pulling away at about .2 a lap, but I was gapping 3rd at something like .4 a lap, so it was going alright for me.

That was the pattern until lap 7, when the leader took his pit stop. That opened up a strategy in my mind: the leader would be embroiled in the field, and I would be on clean track. I could push my stop super late, hoping to open up enough margin to keep the lead, and failing that I'd be on fresher tires and not that far back, so I could hopefully take the fight to the leader at the end.

Over the next 10 laps, I had the pace (I thought) to make that work. Everyone behind me stopped at some point between lap 7 and lap 14, and I had almost a 40 second gap back to 2nd, the previous leader. I made my stop at the end of lap 17. Everything was going well, the strategy was set up for soft tires, and the pit stop delta was (as far as I could tell) ~40 seconds, so I was looking good for it. Then my mechanic dropped a wheel nut.

I came out of that stop in 3rd, 5 seconds behind 2nd, and filled with righteous fury. I chased down the 2nd place Ginetta with 2 laps t go and was all over the back of him, looking inside everywhere. I passed him in 5 only to have him immediately re-pass me in 7, and I passed him again in turns 1/2 before being re-passed in 3/4 Started the last lap .2 behind him and chased him the whole lap. Thought I had him in 5 but I just out-braked myself, letting him back on the over-under. Then, in the penultimate set of corners (turns 9&10 maybe...? The long left to hard right up past the pit entrance) I managed to get alongside him, but he had the inside for the last corner. We we door-to-door across the line, but he had a nose on me. The final gap was 0.097 at the finish, and I wound up in 3rd.

A podium in my first weekend was nice, but I was super disappointed with it if I'm honest. I think I had a good shot at winning that race with a good pit stop, but that's the way it goes sometimes I guess. All in all, epic race and leaves me wanting to jump right into round 2, but alas, real life beckons, and it shall have to wait for another day.

I am absolutely in love with this game. I don't know if I've ever played a game that had me so focused and so completely intent on it as this one. I've definitely never played one that could cheat me like that and have me leave smiling.
