Race Report - Round 12 Deep Forest Reverse
This track never fails to deliver good racing and there were some crackers on Sunday. Flaco was back with a bang winning all three races - the other podium slots were shared between Lex Lathor, Emotional Rekz and IfAndOr.
World Classic Cars (315bhp, 1160kg)
1st - Flaco - Pontiac Tempest Le Mans GTO - yellow
2nd - Emotional Rekz - BMW 507 - Blue
3rd - Lex Lathor - Ferrari 250 GT - Red
As we reach the half way point in this championship, it confirms the pre-season testing that at 315bhp and 1160kg these classic cars are very evenly matched, with the difference being made by the driver. Flaco proved again today his skill in driving and setting up the Pontiac Tempest and that in his hands it is a great car.
The Toyota 2000 GT has been shown to be less fast than the Ferrari 250 GT so anyone who hasn't yet raced that option would do best to stump up the 7.5 million credits for the Ferrari and this will also have the benefit that it can be used in the forthcoming Ferrari Cobra Wars championship - this is not however essential as Makovics proved early in the season how fast the Jaguar E Type can be (besides, Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart raced E Types and some drivers may want to emulate them).
Cobra v Corvette (Art Morrison) 453bhp, 1240kg
1st - Flaco - Corvette - Turquoise
2nd - IfAndOr - Corvette - Yellow
3rd - Lex Lathor - Corvette - Orange
First Cobra was Emotional Rekz in 4th. In the absence of the rapid Harsk (Cobra) who was on a different car choice to Flaco and Lex, the Corvette has recently obtained great results.
Corvette beats Cobra (263 v 242 Points)
It is now confirmed that the Art Morrison Corvette has won the Manufacturers Championship with 263 Points to the Cobra's 242 Points (Out of a possible 300).
One Make Series - BMW 2002 Turbo - Max Tune
1st - Flaco -
2nd - Lex Lathor - Taiga Green
3rd - Emotional Rekz -
This car has proved very tricky to drive and probably would be best tuned to a more realistic 250-300bhp rather than the 403bhp offered by a max tune.
8th June will be a practise day for the new "Cobra Ferrari Wars" which replaces "Cobra v Corvette". Championship racing re-starts on 15th June at the Brands Hatch GP Circuit (the 1980's layout) and will feature:
1. World Classic Cars (Drivers please let me know your car choice for rounds 13-15 if you haven't already done so).
2. Cobra Ferrari Wars (Cobras, Ferraris, 1963 Corvettes and Jaguar E Types/XKE's) check the bottom of the first post on page one or the separate Cobra Ferrari Wars Publicity thread for more details.
3. One Make Racing - Lotus Elan (Rounds 13-18) and TVR (Rounds 19-24)
4. Senna Race Cars - F3 WSR (Rounds 13-18) and F1 97T @800bhp (Rounds 19-24)
New Drivers - this is an ideal time to join us - practise day on 8th June @ 17:00 BST - new "Cobra Ferrari Wars" Championship and new "One Make" Championship.
We will also be adding a six round Senna F3 Car championship (unturned) at the end of the meeting for those drivers who want to stay on or join us at approximately 18:45 BST. When those six rounds have been completed we will run a six round championship for the Senna Lotus 97T with power restricted to a more realistic 800bhp unturned (the current 1,049bhp was presumably the qualifying engine - in those days teams would use 4 to 6 engines per meeting).
