CLASSIC RACING - Sundays 17:00-19:00 BST - CONGRATULATIONS CHAMPIONS Flaco & Lex LathorFinished

Thanks guys. I was skimming through the thread at work... Found this now I'm all set.
Event 1 = World Classic Cars
Event 2 = Cobra Ferrari Wars
Event 3 = One Make Series: Lotus Elan
Event 4 = Senna Tribute: F3 Car

NB I wrote my reply before your post appeared.

Actually I have an Ferrari 250 GT in my garage but my Ferrari that I have is for World Classics Racing which I'll no longer use it because there's 11 rounds to go.... I currently have another 250 GT too but it is stock.

The Ferrari 250 GT is faster than the Jaguar E Type when tuned for the "Cobra Ferrari Wars" 844kg, 460bhp - so if you have one it makes sense to use it when you can - the Arrakis Speedshop tune by Feydrautha is very good for this car.

I don't know if you can win the overall championship - you missed a few races. I will check when I have more time and will send you a PM about it.

I don't want to run a rally event, because I am not good at rallying and neither are some of my friends - I will leave that to other people in the GTPlanet community.

Sick Said...
"We are now doing four races per meeting so maybe sometimes you could squeeze in the last two - One Make Series (Lotus Elan for 6 rounds then TVR V8S) and Senna Tribute which is untuned."

I have Toyota 2000GT, Savannah Green, black wheels - FCW,
Lotus Elan, Savannah Green, black wheels - One Make,
and Senna Tribute F3 of course. What is the fourth race?

Looking forward to racing with you guy's.

John - just to clarify your car choices

Event 1 - World Classics = Toyota 2000 GT - Max 315bhp, Min 1,160kg (Toyota will reach 288bhp with oil change).
Event 2 - Cobra Ferrari = Ferrari 250 GT OR Jaguar E Type - Max 460bhp, Min 844kg.
Event 3 - One Make = Lotus Elan - Max 185bhp, Min 600kg.
Event 4 - Senna Tribute = WSR, F3 - Untuned apart from oil change.

Hope the above removes any confusion.

Perfect. Thanks Sick for all of your efforts here, now all I have to do is show up and drive!

@TheJohnG (and all) A slight error by Sick - I think minimum weight above should read 844kg (post now updated)

Here's an edited list from one of his previous posts showing the minimum weight achievable (allowed) on the cars.

Cobra - 902kg
Ferrari 250 GT0 - 844kg (ballast added)
Corvette C2 Z06 Race Car - 1168kg
Ferrari 250 GT - 844kg Time
Corvette C2 Road Car - 1122kg
Jaguar E Type - 1021kg

We get to drive the various machines so any weight advantages balance out during the season.

Thanks If - glasses steamed up - thanks for spotting and correcting error!

For anyone having difficulty setting up or driving their classic car - some old cars were tricky to drive - but probably few were as difficult as the early Porsche 911. Here the Roman Caresani 1965 2 litre 911 running on period correct Dunlop CR65 Cross Ply tyres attempts a qualifying lap at a busy Spa. Ignore the usual ignorant comments on Youtube - there is nothing wrong with the car and the man does know how to drive (lap record holder).

Thought this might make Max glad he's in a Corvette C2 Race Car and not an early Porsche 911 (I'd still love one in the game)!

NB - if you are curious about why he holds his finger on the mirror - that is to stop the glass vibrating to get a better view and check whether a faster car is approaching.

Well, don't worry! When I get a new PS3 and tested the specs, I will run an rally championship...

That's why I came back in last sunday because I need to earn 25 points each round for the championship. If I get the wins in the rest of the rounds, maybe I can win the championship!

Anyways, my choices are already decided. So, let's see what happens in next races of FCW with E-Type. Maybe it can win some races.

Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart and many other top drivers raced the Jaguar E Type against the Cobra's and Ferrari's.

It is great that you have chosen it and it will be very interesting to watch your duel with Lex in his Cobra.

It will be a great challenge, I guess...

Ford Ferrari Wars will be the same cars from FCW (Shelby Cobra, Ferrari 250 GT, 250 GTO and Jaguar E-Type), Ford Mark IV Race Car'67 and Ford GT40, right?

Thanks very much for the tune for the Corvette C2 Z06 Race Car - your work is greatly appreciated.

I did a lot of testing this morning and chose your tunes for the Ferrari 250 GTO, 250 GT, Jaguar E Type and Corvette C2, but for the C2 Race Car I found the Motor City Hami tune faster.

Test Results for all car choices in Ferrari Cobra Wars - Max 460bhp, Min 844kg

Many people tune their own cars, but I don't have enough knowledge of GT6 to do that and when I try tweaking a tune I normally make it worse. For information the following are my test results (ABS 1 all driving aids off, edge grip real, steering wheel, steering sensitivity 2) at Trial Mountain: NB I am only indicating the difference in lap time and I know that many people will lap faster than me and also may be better suited to certain cars or tunes, but I have put these results up in the hope that they are helpful:

Cobra - tune by Praiano - 902kg Time = 0

Ferrari 250 GT0 - tune by Arrakis Speedshop - 844kg Time = +0.143

Corvette C2 Z06 Race Car - tune by Motor City Hami - 1168kg Time = +0.593

Ferrari 250 GT - tune by Arrakis Speedshop - 844kg Time = +1.391

Corvette C2 Road Car - tune by Arrakis Speedshop - 1122kg Time = +2.080

Jaguar E Type - tune by Arrakis Speedshop - 1021kg Time = +3.125

At the moment the Jaguar seems a lot slower than the other cars - If anyone thinks they have a good tune for the Jaguar perhaps they could post it to help others.

The kg figures are the lowest that can be achieved for the car except for the Ferrari 250 GTO which has ballast to reach 844kg.
Could you post a link to this tune, I can not find it. Thank you.

Race Report for the Main Event - Ferrari Cobra Wars - to follow!

Race Report - Ferrari Cobra Wars

The plan was to replicate the entry list for the Guards International Trophy race held at Brands Hatch in the summer of 1963, in particular Grand Touring Cars over 2,500cc complying with Appendix J (1963) Group 3. We were able to do this with the exception of the Works Aston Martin's - come on PD give us an Aston Martin DB4GT. TVR Griffith 200's competed in 1965 so we also need those PD!

In the 1963 Brands Hatch race many famous drivers were entered including Graham Hill, Jack Sears, David Piper, Bruce McLaren, Mike Salmon, Roger Penske and Dick Protheroe.

The overall race win (Prototype GT Cars) went to Roger Penske driving the Zerex Special Cooper powered by a 2,750cc Climax FPF L4 engine. His qualifying time was 1:47.4 (Roger later formed Team Penske which to date has won the Indy 500 fifteen times).

Winner of the class for GT Cars over 2,500cc and an incredible 5th overall was Gentleman Jack Sears driving a Ferrari 250 GTO. His qualifying time was 1:51.4 (Jack won the BSCC in 1958 in an Austin Westminster and 1963 in a Ford Galaxie)

Our slightly less famous drivers achieved these results:

1st - Lex Lathor - Shelby Cobra
2nd - Flaco - Chevrolet Corvette C2 Race Car
3rd - Emotional Rekz - Ferrari 250 GT
4th - Sick Cylinder - Shelby Cobra
5th - IfAndOr - Ferrari 250 GT
6th - Maximusmonster - Chevrolet Corvette C2 Race Car
7th - SmileyWRX - Jaguar E Type
8th - Harsk - Jaguar E Type
9th - Racercad - Jaguar E Type

NB The Ferrari 250 GTO will be in action in future rounds, but the price of 20m credits is a bar to ownership for many players.

The Jaguar E Type results were disappointing - PD we need the factory lightweight E Type in the game - as driven by Dick Protheroe and a handful of other drivers, this had aluminium body panels and a lightweight engine.

So the points after round 13:

I haven't done the spread sheets yet Harsk, but will do them soon.

I think you should switch from your E Type to your Ferrari - Graham Hill did! He was listed in the programme for an E Type Jaguar, but switched to a Ferrari for the race!

OK.... I choosed the E Type because I thought that E Type was faster than Ferrari, but I was wrong. So, I will drive a Ferrari 250 GT (I have 2 of those worth 7 million credits) for next two rounds because I saw that is faster than E Type.
