CLASSIC RACING - Sundays 17:00-19:00 BST - CONGRATULATIONS CHAMPIONS Flaco & Lex LathorFinished

Hmm, tracks.
Well I like them all really, it just depends on what you are driving. Some cars suit some tracks better than others.

That said I do quite like the "new" Apricot Hill Raceway - there's a nice flow to it.

At the moment for our series I'm preferring the shorter length circuits. This is because (when there is a smaller field of drivers) the cars don't get spread out so far around the track and therefore you have the chance of seeing/racing some other cars.

My least favorite is the Nordschleife! That's not because I dislike the track itself, I just don't think it suits the shorter "sprint" race format. It's more suited to (large field) endurance races where if you make a mistake you have more time to recover.

Sick or anyone interested in perhaps doing some dusk/dawn races (where tracks allow)? It could make for a different challenge and provide some interesting photo opportunities.

Some good ideas guys.

We have already set the tracks for the rest of the current championship and as per IfAndOr's suggestion the plan is that the two Matterhorn races will be dusk, but you will need to remind me to reset the time for the Senna Tribute race as those cars don't have lights!

Willow Springs is very good at Dawn!

We haven't used Mount Panorama recently because of the current glitch which causes PS3's to lock up. That is a nice track to race at night - we could test whether that stops it locking up as a night race would add some variety.

There is also the possibility of a wet race - maybe just try that with the World Classic Cars or the Senna F3 car - it might be too difficult to control the Ferrari Cobra Wars Cars.

Harsk and IfAndOr - I'm also looking forward to the new Red Bull Ring - I would guess that we get the new layout.

first test with Cobra with "Brands Hatch setup" on Trial Mountain: 1:27.222

That's a good time - a couple of seconds faster than me, which is to be expected as you are a faster driver.

Yesterday I tested the Motor City Hami tune again at Trial Mountain for the Chevrolet Corvette C2 Race Car and I added the body rigidity as he advised (from the pit / oil change menu area) and it made a big difference to the controllability of the car - the car went 0.6 seconds faster and lapped Trial Mountain faster than my best Cobra time.

MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS to my friend SileightyCyrus for 22nd fastest time in the USA and good luck in the next stage of GT Academy buddy!

Also MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS to GT Planets own GTP Tidgney of the UK.

Congratulations and good luck to all the racers going through to the next stage of the GT Academy!

Ok - good idea.

You drove very well today - it was very difficult to keep you in sight from my Cobra when you drove the Ferrari even though I had a better car!
Thanks, my Ferrari was faster than yours.... It had 464 CV (If not mistaken) and it had bigger aceleration than yours.... I couldn't catch Lex because he was extremly fast.... I hope that I can keep in that way, so I can keep on my sight for the title....

I think my car was faster, but your driving was better! We will see when you race a Cobra and I drive a Ferrari! - it was a good battle!

Cobra Ferrari Wars

1st - Lex Lathor - Cobra
2nd - Harsk - Ferrari 250 GT
3rd - Sick Cylinder - Cobra

Below a field of beautiful classics - Max Corvette C2 Race Car, Smiley E Type, Sick and Lex Cobra's, Emo, If and Harsk Ferrari's. Harsk struggled at the last round in the Jaguar E Type, but qualified second in his Ferrari.

Sick used the superior acceleration of the seven litre Cobra to blast past the Ferrari's and into second behind Lex (blue Cobra). Harsk was slower off the line and here follows Emo (red) and If (orange) Ferrari.

Harsk slipped between Emo and If then passed Sick on the inside to take second place. Despite great driving Harsk was unable to overhaul the flying Lex who took the win.

Harsk Passes.jpg

Above Sick thought he was tight on the corner, but Harsk found room to pass - brilliantly close racing, but completely clean and with no contact! Below Emo spins as If pressures.

One Make Series: Lotus Elan

1st - Harsk
2nd - Lex Lathor
3rd - IfAndOr

Elan start.jpg

Above the Elans were great fun as always, but it was easy to exceed the limit as below!

Senna Tribute: WSR, F3

1st - Lex Lathor
2nd - Harsk
3rd - Emotional Rekz

F3 spins.jpg

Following the 1.09 update the F3 cars seemed rather prone to spinning out - almost everyone had a turn at leading before spinning out. Above the WSR, F3 race!

Results tables to be added.

Next Round 15 Sunday 29th June at 17:00 BST- Eiger Nordwand Reverse - 10 Laps no pit stops

NB following a suggestion from Harsk to use the Senna DAP Kart: as part of our Senna Tribute the meeting will conclude with two 10 lap races in the DAP Kart at the Matterhorn Short Track. To save time the Kart grid for the first race will start in race finish order and reverse order for the final race. To obtain a DAP Kart either obtain silver or gold in Part One of the Senna Challenge or buy one from the dealership for 0.1m credits. This Kart Festival is a one off and the Kart will be run untuned.

STOP PRESS!!! - DAP Karts now at Matterhorn Short Track

Yeah, karts. :D Hang on to your steering wheel!

Nice idea Harsk. Karts are good around Eiger Nordwand

Sick - I'll get you racing in those 125cc shifter karts yet. They are great fun. Not quite classics though - but better handling!

Question - is the kart race event going to replace the WSR's for this meeting?

Good racing last Sunday guys. Great results Lex and Harsk.
Although I wasn't up the front, I did enjoy some close battles - especially with Sick and Smiley. 👍

In the first race (classics) I'd forgotten to change the gearbox back to manual (from auto) - so it wasn't changing where I wanted it to and was changing where I didn't want it to!
And in the Elan race, I'd adjusted the diff setting during the week but decided I didn't like it - but I'd forgotten to change it back!
No excuses for the other races. ;)

I'll try to get some pictures up during the week.

Thanks.... Kart Race even is really an good idea. I use manual.... I pitted in lap 5 and overtook Lex which he pitted the lap 8 to make my own to the victory. (One Make Cup)

The races at Eiger will be short - only 10 laps with no pit stops which will allow time for a three race, three lap Senna DAP Kart Festival to be held after the Senna WSR, F3 race. To save time there will be no qualifying for the Kart races - the grid for the first two races will be in race finish order and the third race will be in reverse grid order. The layout for all races will be Eiger Nordwand Reverse except for the second Kart race which will be Eiger Nordwand Forward. The DAP karts are not fast or powerful so the racing should be very close.

I'll buy the Kart as I won't do the normal Senna Tribute yet in GT6. I'll wait to get 200% in login bonus because in last chapter it is with Lotus 97T and I want to have enough money to buy the another cars later on.

Good idea - you can earn a lot of credits if you get gold in all the Senna challenges.

But I won't do them yet. I'll wait to get 200% login bonus first. I can buy it.... I can get more money, from the Seasonal Events.... I've an idea: Why don't you put the same track for Kart Festival after Senna Tribute? We can do it in Eiger Nordwand Reverse but I would like to see Eiger Nordwand Forward in WCR. (This was where we tested the Mini Cooper 1.3i and Dodge Challenger)

Information for Racers
The races at Eiger will be shorter than usual so we will do the DAP Kart races this sunday 29th June. The Kart costs 0.1m credits or can be won in the first part of the Senna challenge.

Following further testing it has been decided that the Kart is too slow for the Eiger Nordwand track, therefore we will hold two 10 lap races for the Kart at the Matterhorn Short Track which is only 0.48 miles in length and should generate more exciting racing.

The races for the cars will be held at Eiger Nordwand Reverse as originally planned and are each of 10 laps duration. Please be extra careful with overtaking as the track is quite narrow and the humps on the main straight can cause jumps and / or loss of control.

Car Choice World Classics.jpg

Dear Racers - you will notice a new name on the car choice sheets - please welcome Waukazoo - hopefully he will enjoy himself on Sunday and become a regular racer.

Eiger Nordwand is a tight, fiddly track so please take extra care when overtaking and braking.

Please let me know your car choices for World Classics for rounds 16-18, 19-21 and 22-24 (NB I already have car choices from Harsk, Lex and Waukazoo). If you have already told me, but it is not recorded on the sheet - many apologies - please let me know again and I'll make sure the sheet is updated and posted after the meeting.

The championship points tables will be updated and posted after the next meeting.

The thread does get a bit "busy". So here's my list from earlier.

Hi Sick. So you can update your classics car list in advance...
Rd 16-18: Corvette C1
Rd 19-21: Pontiac GTO (The cab)
Rd 22-24: Jaguar E Type

To keep it simple from now on, all my cars will be orange - My new "team" colour (until I get fed up with it).
... if anyone wanted to use my car choice for any of the upcoming rounds, let me know and I'd be happy to swap to another one. (I wouldn't mind trying out the Toyota.)
