Since a friend of mine is selling his copy of GTA V, I'm going to buy it and join you guys as soon as possible :). Is the online mode still populated? I guess yes, since it's GTA...

Going back to GT6, a quick question about credit races; saved credits carry over until the last race or you can use them only in the subsequent race? An example to be a bit more clear;
Race 1 - limit: 20'000 spent: 10'000 -> saved: 10'000
Race 2 - limit: 40'000 spent: 20'000 -> saved: 20'000
Race 3 - you'll have 30'000 "extra" credits (total save) or 20'000 (only previous race)?

Oh, cool! It is always good playing with you guys. :)
It is still populated, and due to the nature of how the servers are handled you are never alone for long, for good or bad. It fosters a bit of paranoia towards unknown players.

You keep all your credits from both previous races (Gran Turismo style), i.e. in your example you would have ¤30 000 more to spend in Race 3 for a total of ¤90 000 (¤60 000 from the race budget + ¤30 000 saved from previous races).

Edit: Clarification.

It's all gone quite over here... Are we racing this Thursday? I haven't been practicing, might put a few laps in later.

The Senna memorial content has been excellent. I downloaded it late on Friday, got up Saturday morning, remembered the download and straight away turned on the PS3, much to my wife's annoyance (PS3 is in my bedroom, like I was still 16 years old. I'm 41 :-D). She said "oh don't do that now, come and have a cup of tea, at least wait until I get up", but I said I wouldn't be long, just wanted to see what the update was all about.

Then the next thing I know, I'm crying. It was the pictures of a young Senna - you get sensitive to a certain type of manipulation when you have kids - and they made me cry! Actual tears! Tsk. What a bugger :)

My wife thought I'd lost my mind. Well, she knows I lost it long ago. Maybe she thought that I'd lost it and then found it - by stepping on it. Ah well.

Haven't done the last F1 races yet, as I'm waiting for the full, 200% reward to build up - which will be tonight. The F3 car on Brands was fantastic though. As usual, getting the gold was a bit too easy as far as I'm concerned, but then I accept that if they made it difficult for the likes of us, 70% of global players might not be able to do it at all...

Great Senna update no doubt, cars are great and 80s layout are a great addition too.

I was just making some laps on GT Academy, the last round is huge fun at Spa.

If We race on Thursday count me in, GTO at Monza should on paper be a nice race, we could use the 80s layout if you want to.

And the Caterham At Silverstone will be a handful!!!!

I was about to write the same things as Least said in that great post; the Senna update is brilliant. I've especially liked the pictures between one event and the other. Maybe some footage was more spectacular, but in this way you can enjoy some wonderful images that I had never seen. I've spent probably more than a couple of minutes staring at this one(in the game is in high definition). Nowadays this corner is so full of buildings that you can't realize that they're racing above the sea

The Lotus 97T is one of the most fun cars of GT6 in my opinion. Great sound, huge speed, the downforce isn't excessive so you always have to control the car, and that turbo lag... it gives you just a fraction of a second to correct the oversteer. After that, it's a spin. It's tricky, especially with the DS3, but it's really rewarding.
New 80s layouts are another good addition, maybe we can use the old Monza layout for the next championship race in the GTO; 80s track for an 80s car :).

This time, well done PD!

Championship edit: Next race day added, Thursday, 2014-06-05.

I'm updating GT6 now. 80's Monza layout for an 80's Ferrari sounds very nice. Done! :)

Edit: Oh, and I'm sorry for falling behind in updating the championship. :guilty:

Edit 2: Metallica was excellent! ;)

I'm standing 20m to the left of the sound booth... 'ello! :P

Edit 3: It takes too long to update for me to race this evening. Anybody up for practice tomorrow? I don't even know what competitive times you put in... :)

Ushu, your time on the GT-R / Spa Academy lap is a stunner. I spent 30 mins lapping lap night, seriously couldn't get anywhere near it. I ranked about 250th (that's a guess only, don't remember exactly - and I suppose I'll be a long way down if I check again today), so your time must have been very high up on the list! You were approx 2 seconds better than my best, awesome. I could probably improve a bit, but 2 seconds? I doubt it!

Overall, I have to say that I'm a little disappointed with the final Senna F1 trials. The car and the circuits are good, no complaints about either of those bits of design - it's the fact that you're supposed to be competing against Senna's best lap in the same car, yet you can beat it easily.

I imagine that Senna's laps that gained those records at the time were pretty much perfect, and OK, it took a few goes to beat the gold time at Brands, but at Monza I beat it on my second lap, and I wouldn't even have said the lap was entirely clean, let alone fast. I did a couple more and took several seconds off Senna's time. On Brands after probably 45mins of lapping I eventually took, I dunno, something like 1.5 seconds of Senna's time.

This just tells me that the pace of the virtual car is not realistic. Again, I know it's a game, and it's got to be achievable to the average player or PD will just get slated for being elitist - but I feel that beating Senna's best lap in the same car on the same track should take something pretty damn special, not an indifferent lap where you badly miss the apex on one corner and scuff the grass and go sideways for 0.5s on another!

Ah well - not really complaining. Very good prize money, too, with the 200% bonus rolling...

Thx Least, I was 90th on Spain and 690 worlwide two days ago but still way off the pace from those aliens, my lap time was with No ABS so I will try again with ABS = 1.

But as my time playing is limited I will rather focus on our league and my own driving pleasure offline (Arcade mode).

About Senna laps I would like to check what would happen if tires were racing hard instead of soft and with manual clutch shifter plus the knowledge that if you touch the grass and you crash your life is at risk...

I will be online tonight for some testing at Monza and Silverstone, some brief races, hope to see you online, we need some practice!!!!!

I know Senna had his life on the line, and mine is pretty far from on the line as I grip a DS3 in my bedroom (maybe PD should build in a new, ULTRA HEAVY damage setting, you crash - and your house gets hit by a meteorite), but nevertheless, Senna's record laps will have been perfect. If you could watch a replay then I bet he would have been millimetrically perfect on every corner, with the optimum line, at the outer limit of traction, and trying to push the throttle pedal through the floor! That is simply what F1 drivers do, they don't take it easy because they could get hurt; it's not in their nature :)

So I'm not disrespecting Senna in the slightest - the opposite, actually. I'm saying that the virtual car in GT6 is clearly way too fast, if I can have a reasonably scrappy lap of Monza and still beat "Senna's record time" then if Senna had a go at GT6, after 10 laps he could probably take 10 seconds off it! It should be harder - I say this out of respect for Senna (and all F1 drivers, damn those guys and cars are fast), there's no way that it should be easy to beat his time.

That's why I liked The X2010 trial in GT5, where Vettel set a lap - OK, it wasn't realistic, but I couldn't get close - and that felt right to me :)

Great racing yesterday guys, after spending some time on raving hard tires with the Senna update plus GT Academy the GTO on sport hards felt slippery as hell.

Penalties are a big plus so everybody is forced to keep it cool on the chicanes although sometimes could be a bit harsh in the long term is the same to everyone.

Later we tested Mephi, Elen and I the Caterham/Silverstone combo and as usual great little car with a suicidal tendency to oversteer on corner exit when applying full throttle. I hate those long gears but it is what it is.

When Mephi left we decided to race the F3 Ralt from Senna on sport soft tires and that was absolutely brilliant stuff, close racing overtaking each other and separated by inches, awesome guys, awesome, We should give it a try all together, you will love it!!!!

See you this evening for more intense champ races!!!

Looking forward to later. Didn't have a very satisfactory practice session last night - don't think I managed to put a clean lap in. Got a 1.54 something, but that lap included a 3s penalty (it doesn't actually add 3s to your lap though - maybe 1s). I was interrupted by phone calls, my wife (we had a short argument), then my Dad on the phone - so I thought AAAARGH **** IT it and logged off in a bit of a temper! Sorry for not saying bye :)

I'll be there later, with a grand total of zero practice on the Caterham/Silverstone combo. Ah well, what will be will be. See you guys later.

Least now I understand why you suddenly logged out, lol and lol.

They say this is a simulator, not really but close to it as concentration and focus is required to be half decent at racing.

See you later!

Good racing last night. Was pleased to win the first race - didn't expect to, and only just kept it together in the rain at the end on the sports tires, but that was excellent.

Elen - I don't know if you still read our ramblings here; but when we hit each other at Silverstone it wasn't your fault, it was mine. Yes you took a truck-load of oversteer at Stowe, went wide, lost speed and rejoined - but you rejoined a decent way in front of me, I had plenty of time to see you, you'd regained control and were holding a predicable course on the track - but I was too greedy with trying not to lose any time. I could easily have gone around you to the left, leaving plenty of space and safety - but I wanted to stay in range to mephis (I knew he was quick) so I dithered for a second or two, made a too-late decision to run for a risky, close pass on the right to keep on the racing line, and in fact just arsed it all up and smashed into the back of you. So it wasn't you who ruined my race - I ruined yours! For that I'm sorry. But anyway - that's racing, it's not something that you need to worry about too much. But I'm saying this because I don't want you to think it was your fault, it wasn't. Anyway, we want you back in the races, not having more reasons to stay away! I'd much rather have you there and crash into you than have you not there, sir :)

So, couldn't match the 1.28 laps at Silverstone, but for the core of the race I put in 1.29s every lap and gradually closed on the leaders, so if I hadn't randomly attacked elen (:)) at the start I think I'd have been in a great 3-way battle for the lead. Still, you can't win 'em all.

Good racing last night, guys. See you at the next ones!

Least, my friend, you are a true gentleman, that's for sure. When i said it was my fault, that was because i am making so many mistakes that i'm afraid of ruin someone's race, and i feel like i've lost my nerve. Remember our tsukuba race? 30 minutes whithout any mistake, now i can't make 10 min right. To help, my daugther born premature and this is not being easy, but its OK now, thank GOD. I will be there allways with you guys.

Thank you Least, for all

Hi!

My summary report on CRCR 5:5 and 5:6

CRCR 5:5 - Monza - Ferrari GTO

Second place on qualifying and a good start made for some thrilling first laps battling with Least and Mephi.

I found myself not too comfortable to be honest and I lost the edge so I was overtaken by Least and Mephi, when we were separated by less than 3 seconds something happened to Mephi which crashed into the first chicane barrier in such a way that he blocked the road and I smashed into him, I had heavy damage so I had to drive a complete lap on very bad conditions being difficult to keep the car on track so I had to make a pit stop to repair and some refuelling to make it to the end, it was lap 7 by the way.

After that I recovered my temper and when Least pitted I was just 3 seconds behind him, nevermind he started to pull away, he was too quick for me so I had to settle for second position, then drama with rainy conditions, I was losing traction on sport hards so I gambled with 3 laps to go on a pit stop for comfort soft, but man! it was still too slippery on those tires and I found myself on the gravel several times losing a lot of seconds. On hindsight if I could have kept it cool maybe I could have won the race as I think Least was trying not to make any mistake and I was gaining on him some good seconds per lap but as I made several mistakes it was a no no situation so I finished second, not bad considering I had heavy damage at one point in the race.

CRCR 5:6 - Silverstone - Caterham

So close on raw pace against a magnificent Mephi, just 0.056 sec behind pole man, so close!!! But I made a mistake on qualifying so I lost the chance for another lap, mistakes are painful but that was a lesson learned.

Good start alongside a very poor getaway from Mephi I found myself on first place and build a gap of 4.5 sec as Mephi had some battles just behind with Least and Elen, I was going quite good but yet again I made a small mistake in the final chicane and Mephi closed the gap so after that some epic 2/3 laps with some overtakes until I went wide and Maphi dissapeared on the horizon, next lap as I was pushing like hell I spun out so it was definitely game over.

Great race from Mephi very quick and consistent, when I set the fastest lap he not only did not take a conservative route but he went for the fastest lap and he got it, well done mate!!!

Another second place, ouch!!!! lol

Very fun races and kudos to everyone for rasing their game and skills to another level, you are making me to push like hell and I love it, clean races with lots of respect, so races to remember.

Championship wise I think Mephi has the upper hand right now, he seems possesed to win this championship but Least is not far behind so anything can happen.

P.S.: Elen do not give up, we need you!!! It is normal you can not test as much as you like as your priorities are quite clear, but whenever you have a chance to play just jump in and enjoy, forget about fast laps or race positions, retake you learning curve and you´ll see how suddenly your pace will come up.

The aim is to have fun, winning is great but we do not earn money or have any sponsors to deal with so it is just about fun, do not forget it!!!!!!!!

Bye!!!

VUJA my friend, when do you think you´ll be able to update the Championship results?

VUJA my friend, when do you think you´ll be able to update the Championship results?

Sorry. I got involved in some emergency bachelor party planning as a friend sprung upon us that he's getting married, in a couple of weeks!
I'll try get it done tonight, after I've driven a couple to their prom. (They could not be dissuaded - the poor guy sitting in the back... :D)

Championship edit: Finally updated race results and standings.

It's exciting! mephis climbs back up in the lead, before Least, and marco and ushu are in a shared third postion! It's looking good coming the next race day. :)

Hi friends!
As ushu said during the first race I had a horrible crash, but don't worry, I'm alive and with all my teeth: p
After struggling to reach the pits I had no more chance of poduim.
A few laps before the end, I slip and Marco overtook me easily to steal my 4th grr, i was furious.
I thought I could achieve poduim during this race :(

Fortunately, the second race was in my favor, with one of my favorite cars :)
I take a miserable start, as usual, no penalty but a problem with the clutch, I have to improve it. Because it's idiot to take the pole and be fifth at the end of the straight :/
After a nice battle with ushu I see him make a few mistakes, so I increase the pace to take a lead more than comfortable.
Thank you :) Ushu. After I got the best time, I see you do 2.29.0 ** I was crazy, I´ve gave everything to do better lap lol.
I want win this championship, nobody can hurt me ^^

As promised, I present you the Golf sold, and the beast: p...

See you soon, need to practice :)

Championship edit: Laps and PP limit for Mount panorama set at 17 and 534.

I did some testing on Mount Panorama and managed 2.21 in both the F40 and The 'Bird. I think they are quite evenly matched. 👍
I forgot to lower the PP on the Frerrari in the test (from 536), but I also know I have a second or so to gain in both cars if I string together a lap of good cornering. :P

A good session last night; thank you.

I need to go back offline to find my pace again at Apricot. If not, marco and I seem to be about even paced - some excellent racing last night mate. :)
1.38 is a good pace, and I was only hitting 1.40 yesterday. :nervous:

On Panorama I did fare better in the RUF, maybe because of my love of driving the "Porsche substitutes". :D
2.22 (2.21 offline, but I'm unsure if I hit that yesterday) seems to be a good pace there. The massive rear downforce of the F40 might put the CTR at an disadvantage when the tyres are worn though. It looks like it'll be a tough race on everyone, for me especially the slow left/right hander after the back straight. I'll be sure to bring my bucket and spade for sand castles.
Also, I love the top of the hill section, but I'm for reasons quite slow in the downhill braking part (after the quick left hander) - the same as last championship. It is probably a good idea for me to work on that.

I have no idea what cars to check out yet for the Apricot Hill race. 35,000 cr, 435PP - guess there's quite a choice available, I'll try and have a look later as I really should get in at least a few laps...

Unless anyone wants to give any useful and excellent car tips, of course :)

I understand if not. It's a disadvantage of being second in the championship - "I'm not helping you, you git!"

Quite a few drivers have great success in the Honda S2000, Least. The '03 model is exactly ¤35 000. ;)

Oh, wait... I'm not helping you, you git!

Edit: For full disclosure; I'm probably gonna drive a Honda Intergra. :)

Hi Least! My choice is one of those S2000 available for around 35.000cr. You will like the car and I am sure you will be very fast, after the MX-5 we could spend some 1000cr more but the S2000 is the best option.

Please note it is a 425pp race not 435!!!!!

Good luck my friend!!!!

@ mephi: nice car, I really like the color. I love blue on cars and that blue is really cool. Here in Italy the 1 series is a popular car but 95% of them are white, grey or black. A bit boring...
I guess you're having fun with it :). Is BMW still using runflat tires as standard?

At Apricot Hill I think I have to "steal" Least's choice, the RX8. The Integra is great but with its FF layout it's really easy to miss apexes for me, especially in the last part of the circuit. I struggle quite a lot lapping under 1.40s with the Integra, so I think I'll use the RX8. I'm not that faster in it, but I think It gives some room for improvement that the Honda doesn't give me.

Mount Panorama, Yellow or Red? The F40 is maybe a bit faster on straights but that huge rear wing mentioned by Vuja doesn't seem to help that much, it's a complete animal this Ferrari. The main issue is the gearbox, only 4 long gears and that massive torque when turbo kicks in means it's really hard to put the power down especially in the climb section, also stressful for a (mini) endurance. So I'll probably go with the relaxing, composed and not-oversteering 'Bird :)

I'm going to go with the F40 for Basthhurst - mainly because of the detailed interior model! But yes, it's an animal the F40 - I hate the long gears (180kmh in second - WHY??). Overall I like the car, even though it's one of those cars that you have to tip-toe everywhere to get a decent lap. I prefer a car that feel like you can push it and it digs in, but the F40 is the opposite, there's no dig in here, the opposite - FLING OUT perhaps is a better description - push it hard, and sudden, accidental ORBIT feels like a possibility! Still though, I managed a 2.17 (offline) with it with only about 4/5 laps practice, that felt like an OK time. I have no idea what you guys are getting.

So the RUF is easy to drive, huh? Hmmmmm. I think the F40 will be ferocious on old tyres...
