So the RUF is easy to drive, huh? Hmmmmm. I think the F40 will be ferocious on old tyres...

No, it isn't :). I was just ironic, both cars are wild, which is better is probably a matter of personal driving style. Maybe the RUF is a bit more "quiet" when putting the power down because of the gearbox and the engine at the back which gives more traction. Last night we did some practice laps and I've found a decent pace with the F40, so I don't know which one is better for me. My best was around 2.20 with some little mistakes, I don't think I'm able to go under 2.18 (online).

Well, One for me to forget last night. My chances of winning the championship (which were slender anyway) just disappeared!

I liked my pace at Apricot hill in the RX-8 - although I couldn't come close to ushu's best - but I felt I had a good chance, being able to consistently lap at around high 1.38s or low 1.39. But I wasn't conservative enough at the start - I was throwing the car all over the track, trying to generate some unusual lines with which to attack the S2000 drivers early in the race (the RX-8 had the pace in the corners, but not on the straights, which means you can lap well but passing is trickly, and I knew to have a chance I'd have to try and get ahead early. With Ushu's pace it wouldn't have worked anyway). Trouble is, I kind of forgot that there'd be people close behind, too, and my wild lines caused me to collide with someone on the 4th corner - don't know who - and I lost the suspension on the left rear. That was basically it, the car didn't handle well and couldn't be pushed through the corners, so I put in 8 laps with approx 1.42 times before spinning and damaging the front, too, so that forced a pit. Came last, sad face.

Bathhurst - I was surprised to qualify first, didn't expect that at all. Having read the posts here I thought that the F40 might have the advantage on the straights, but actually I felt it was the opposite - seemed to me like it would carry a good few kph more than the RUF through the corners, particularly on corner entry, and then gave some of that away on the straights. Anyway, had an excellent 1.3 laps closely following a battling meph and ushu, then went for the pass as they both tied themselves up in a braking battle and ran wide on Quarry (at the end of the Mountain Straight - the first straight). Headed towards the hairpin, slightly behind ushu - then, WOAH - slightly ahead, next to, behind, ahead, behind, AAAARGH HE'S LAGGING... and crash. Sideways across the road, everyone seemed to hit me, though I guess mephi and Vuja must have got through. Again, took ages to limp to the pits, and although I put in a good middle stint and closed on the lead cars by a decent chunk, again it was race over.

So, one to forget for me in terms of results, though I did mainly enjoy myself. Congrats to Ushu and mephis, both of whom drove spectacularly well, as always :) Too good for me - when I have the pace to take on one of you, the other one always pulls something incredible out of the bag!

Seven drivers on the grid last night. I hope we see Mad again and that we can fill the final spots too.

CRCRL 5:7

Oh, man I was just not quick enough in the Integra! I was consistently slow, again. Are your helmets pointy? Because you guys are wizards! 1.37? Really...? 👍
I had a fight in the back of the field with Mad and Least. marco slipped away after lap 6-7. Then Least span off in the final chicane and, I think, damaged his car, because he was gone for a while. He was slowly gaining and I though he would catch up with me, but he might have had another sand castle session as he dropped back again. No matter what I tried I could not gain much on marco, and as suspected he didn't make any mistakes.

But... Man, the first few laps in a pack - Gran Turismo magic! I said this to elen before, and I really think I/we need to pick up casual racing with Boost enabled once in a while. It could maybe bring in more drivers, apart from also being very fun. :)

CRCRL 5:7/2

Again, the first laps in a pack were fantastic with a four car lead group! Unfortunately, ushu and/or Least had a bit of lag which ruined their chance for the podium. Boooo, network! Boooo! :grumpy:
On lap 7(?) mephi had a little car/barrier interaction atop the hill, and as he turned into the pits I passed him into first! However, my ~30s lead didn't last. He was gaining 2s PER LAP! And when we were racing very close for first, I mucked up my braking and broke my suspension. With only a few laps to go, I stayed on track, nervous that ushu would catch up. With the steering rattling violently, especially on the straights, I was losing 7-10s a lap. Then I cracked my left front suspension too and had understeer problems at turn-in too. Well, I managed to nurse it over the line in a sweat. The track is a car killer! :P

Anyway, good racing from everyone! Let's keep it up.

Apricot Hill has been a good fun race, the RX8 is well balanced and the first part of the track is quite rewarding, it reminds me the first sector of Suzuka. Good battles and some overtaking during the first few laps, ushu and mephi were already pulling away, but between the rest of the pack it was a tight battle. After 3-4 laps I was close behind elen and our lap times were basically identical I think. I had some overtaking possibilities but as Least said the RX8 doesn't have enough top speed, so I've tried an aggressive exit in the last chicane but it was too much and I've almost spun, losing several seconds. 10 minutes to the end, I was again reasonably close to elen (maybe 5 seconds) but I've ruined my tyres trying to step up my pace to catch him. I've tried hard, but elen kept a really good pace through all the race, without committing mistakes (as I did), so he definitely deserved the 3rd place.

Mount Panorama. I had a bad start, then ruined the car in that massive accident. Anyway, I've been luckier than other drivers, because after my pit stop for repairs I was third, maintaining the position until 5 minutes to go. Vuja in front and ushu behind were far away, so I was just waiting for the checkered flag. But at the hairpin before the downhill straight I hit the barrier. I wasn't pushing, the tyres were still good, usual braking point, but the F40 just went straight. Clearly my mistake, but I still don't know how it happened. Really disappointing, a proper noob mistake to gift ushu the 3rd place. Special congratulations to mephi and Least, those purple fastest laps appearing on the right bottom of my screen were absolutely remarkable!

Yes Least, the F40 was actually slower on straights, not "probably a bit faster" like I said before the race. I've been fooled by the gaps appearing on the screen during our practice night the day before. The reference was Vuja's fastest lap (a really good one) in the RUF, and my screen kept showing that I, in the F40, was faster than him in the straight sections. My bad, trusting the weird gap system of GT6.

The F40 was good though, I liked it, and though it's slidey, with practice it's also very predictable. And I really like the real thing - getting on for the last of its kind; modern and technical in it's construction, but otherwise completely lacking electronics. No TC, no ABS even. Stability programs? Pah!

Basically a real, stripped down screaming road racer, it's just like an old group C car under the bodywork. Superb, and those who've driven it say it's one of the greats (and one of the scary ones, too - but as a 440bhp Cobra pilot I'd risk it :))

Oh - Vuja, I disappeared at the end of the Apricot Hill race because the timer had run out, I thought it was the last lap, so because I was basically last I threw the car sideways over the line, tried for some doughnuts, hit the barrier, and then realised - oooooops - there's a lap left! I might have closed you to within a second or two, but I don't think that a pass was on the cards anyway.

Hi!

My sister just called me and he is coming over from Barcelona on Thursday at around 21:30 which means I will not be able to race on Thursday, any slim chance to change race day to Wednesday?

Thanks in advance!

Race report

CRCR 5:7/1

Pole position, fastest lap, all laps in the lead and Víctory!!!

Some might say it looks an easy win, not at all and actually just the contrary due to a dude who was pressuring me all race, his name the 'Possesed Mephi'

No more than 3 sec difference throughout the whole race and some laps within one second and I tell you mentally is pretty tough to stay focus and not make any mistakes when some one is chasing you every lap.

A very intense and challenging race.

CRCR 5:7/2

Not much time testing.this combo but you may know it already, I do not feel too comfortable on sport tires plus the yellowbird beast did not get me into rythm.

Once said this a second place on grid and a good start I found myself on first placer holding off Mephi and Least for three awesome laps until the LAG killed my race, it was like being stopped on track and someone hits from behind over 200km/h pushing me against the wall, engine and front/rear suspension broken, long way to the pits for repair, my concentration out of the window and the anger flooding my veins, just figure the picture.

I somehow calmed down and kept racing trying not to crash again which I didn't as I crashed in the mountain and had to pit again, by that time Least and Mephi were swaping fastest laps and with some 10min to go Least was on my tail but something happened to him as he dissapeared from my mirrors, that yellow F40 was a real threat as I felt like a sheep chased by a wolf but finally with one lap to go I overtook Marco with his damaged car and I found myself on an unexpected 3rd place, that was a race with happy ending, lol

Congratulations everybody for clean and fair races once again because thanks to you GT6 is on another dimension, you bring this game alive!!!!

And I see Mephi very strong and a well deserved championship leader, but I will do my best to maintain this championship alive until the last race and although the last races do not suit me that should not be an excuse.

Off topic: Holand took complete revenge on Spain yesterday at the world cup, what a humilliating defeat with awesome plays from Van Persie and Robben.

End of cycle for Spain I guess but they gave us the glory so all my respect to them in any case.

Championship information: This week's race is postponed until next week because I have some growing up to do on Thursday - 40 years of not dying. Yay! :)

So if l understood correctly is your birthday!!!!

Happy birthday my friend!!!

A new stage in life, bye bye youthness, welcome maturity, he he

By these standards I have been mature for 1.5 years. Riight. AHA HAA HAAA HAAAAAAAA HA HAA HAA cough HA HAAAAA HOOOOOOOOOOOOO nope, not mature over here :)

40 is a piece of cake, not to worry Vuja. It's a good age. You can start giving funny looks to people who call you 'young man', a sort of "is this guy BLIND or what?" kinda look. And anyway, there's no age for maturity these days, the old can behave as disgracefully as the young. What does make you grow up is having kids - you have to make sensible decisions on their behalf. And then what makes you feel old is seeing them grow up, faster than you can believe, until suddenly the bastards are 11 years old and the top of their head is level with your eyes. Oh My Gasp

So, what I'm basically saying is, no kids, no maturity. You'll be fine. Happy birthday my friend.

Ha ha!
Thanks! :)
Who's worried? I'm actually embracing it, and it feels good.
- So, you bought a Porsche... Midlife crisis much?
- Yes. I've never have as much fun driving in my life. :D

Agreed. Any responsibility that involves others forces you to mature and think a step or two further, but the innocence of children turns it up to eleven.

Unfortunately I will be not able to race on Thursday because with just one day in advance my wife has been told to have holidays so I will do the same, what else could I do... (And thankgod I have the freedom to choose more or less my holidays otherwise...)

This kills completely my chances on this championship as I guess the race will not be postponed due to the inminent holiday season.

Well it is what it is, I was just eagerly waiting for the Gordini event... :guilty:

Have fun and let me know how the races went on, ok?

Cheers

Hi guys,

it was fun racing with you fellas the other night at Apricot and Mt. Panorama. Despite not standing the slightest chance I very much enjoyed racing in this mixed euro crowd. I'll be happy to join in again whenever life doesn't interfere. Which it will this coming Thursday. In fact I'll be hitting the road in real life making my way across Germany's Autobahn. Really a shame as - if I read this correctly - you'll be racing at Spa, surely one of my favorite spots of tarmac.

So I'll see yous on the road. Vuja had a birthday. Happy belated!

Good night and good luck!
MM

Well, this Thursday is not looking good - there I was yesterday, reading Ushu's post and thinking that it's a shame that he wouldn't be taking part - without realising that I can't take part, either! I've got a work do (karting, in fact) that's been booked for months, I completely forgot that it would conflict with race night - until I was practicing Spa in various 500PP FR last night, trying to find one that I feel good in...

So, the grids looking a bit depleted, haven't heard from Mephi for a bit, either...

Hi gentlemen
First of all, I wish you a happy birthday Vuja!
My Apologies for the last two weeks, after my brother's wedding (14/06), I had a major problem in my family, I can't solve without going to the south of France, I go between 11/07 and 20/07, if I don't have any news before that date.
Enough to make me forget GT6 :/

I want to finish this championship with you friends!
Before 11/07 or after 20/07 :)

I'm looking to race with people who are clean.

I am patient driver that is ok to wait for the right gap. Very rare in GT6 online!

Let me know how I can join your races.

Thanks.

First, I must again apologise for not keeping up and staying offline.

Unfortunately I will be not able to race on Thursday ...

Cheers

Thanks, Mad! Life does that sometimes, no worries.

That's sad to hear. I hope your problems are not too bad and it works out for you. Stay strong, mate!

Three drivers dropping out for tonight's race - Not good. We're not that many to begin with, and I find racing much more enjoyable with a populated grid. How is next week looking for everyone?

Edit: I'll be online racing and practicing anyway tonight!

Hi, Binary.
We all race clean and are respectful of each other, while still pushing the driving as hard as we can. :)
You're welcome too look us up tonight and see if it's what you expect. Who am I kidding - of course it is. We're just great guys. :P
I'll send you an invite on PSN so you can easliy find our lobby.

Hmmm. The trouble with next Thursday for me is that it's going to be my 15th wedding anniversary (crystal). I honestly think that it would be a good idea for me not to spend the entire evening "driving my imaginary cars", as she calls it.

But you can go ahead without me - my assault on the top positions of the leader-board was over last week, with my shocking performances :)

All I'd say is that if there was a day earlier in the week when folks could make it, then I probably could too. Can't do Firday - I'm away for the weekend starting then. It's starting to get busy for the summer...

Vuja, you can count me in for Thursday.

If after all it turns out to be just a regular outside-of-your-championship-race due to missing drivers like Least then that's fine for me too. I should be back in the cockpits and on tracks once I finish the last coat of paint on my currently disassembled rig this weekend.

OK, Least.
Edit: Fifteen years is respectable, and indeed something to celebrate. Good work the both of you!
Also, you can counter with that the imaginary cars are real fun. :D

Perhaps Wednesday next week is doable for everyone?

I had hopes we could finish the championship before the Swedish midsummer weekend, as everyone's summer picks up after that.
Edit: Not that I think it's not possible to finish it. It'll just take a little more finding nights that fit as many drivers as possible. :)

(Edits from when I'm got home and not just on a phone.)
