I have altered my entry so that it now fits within the rules.

A shame you couldn't use that version in the contest. It looked incredible with the aging effects.

FINAL ENTRY

I hope this is OK, I only used the tools that are normally used in the 2.0 contest (Radial Blur and Brightness/Contrast), I was just creative with them :P

It's most certainly okay by me, for what that's worth. Nothing about the rules says you can't use those tools in conjunction with layer masks (or I'd never have a shot). That's beautifully done - looks like a real honest-to-God long exposure. 👍

I didn't end up going as 'Abstract' as I planned... or even at all really. Didn't quite get the shot I planned but was really happy with this shot so went for this.

It has a slight blue tint (covering the whole [fully B&W] picture) is this ok? if not lemme know I'll post the B&W one with no tint.

As much as I love the use of duotones (I do them all the time IRL with my landscape photographs), I'm afraid we'll have to see it in a pure B/W. (Personally, I love it - but I want to make sure everyone's got the same palette from which to work.)

Maybe it is time, we put Moglet on something. :sly: Or remove half of his brain, and give it away for research.

FINAL ENTRY

NASCARback in the 50's-60's
.....is what I tried going for with this picture.

ALL: Wow! This thread continues to grow and I'm seeing some truly inspiring B/W images... gonna be a very difficult contest to judge come Sunday.

A quick rules clarification: yesterday, I had to ask sheferd to edit his stunning entry because it had a blue tint to it - i.e., it was a dutone image, not a pure B/W photo. I love dutones as much as the next guy, but - for the purposes of this contest, at least - I'm asking you to stick with pure black-and-white. That means no sepia-toned or otherwise tinted images. A quick run through the thread shows me that two of you need to edit your final entries accordingly. [Nor]MclarenF1 and BonkMeister: your images are tinted and, though they look cool as a result, they're not strictly black-and-white. I know the tinting is supposed to give an aged effect, but you'll have to rely on added noise/grain and vignetting to achieve that. Please edit your final entries - thanks! 👍

Also, if you've changed your entry, the rules are very clear: "edit out your previous entry". That means that two of you - Moras and arsenal1992, to be specific - must remove your original entries from the thread, if you want to be considered for the poll. Please take care of that ASAP - I've already got enough photos to sort through without having to keep track of that come poll time. Thanks! :)

My picture was black and white when I took it 50 years ago...j/k

Will do, thought it probably has to wait untill tomorrow or friday, since I want to restart from the original again and that takes some time, which I'm not sure if I will have that tonight. Thanks for noticing 👍

Heheh. Sorry about that - I like the sepia/aged color look personally, but keeping everything strictly black-and-white is more in keeping with the spirit of the competition this time around. Looking forward to seeing the new version when you get around to it! :)

Done, but can not edit the reply to my original post including the original photo.
Cheers

I'll get on it tomorrow. Don't want to miss out on the chance of making the poll because og a yellow tint. :)

I wouldn't want you to miss out, either! 👍

All fixed! As usual it can be found in the original post.
As in the words of the great Clarksonius: "How hard can it be?"

Do I have to take a new pic or can I use one I already have?
Does it have to be taken in black and white or can I take a color pic and edit out the color?

It can be either new or old, and you can edit a colour pic or it can be taken in black and white, as long as it's a fully desaturated picture, and complies with the rules on the first page of the thread, it counts
