FINAL ENTRY

My entry.
(do I have to mark it as my final entry only if I'm changing my entry or what?)

As the contest rules that everyone ought to carefully read before posting indicate:

[*]Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text.

[*]You may change your entry once. Do it clearly; edit out your previous entry, and
either post the new one in a new reply, or in place of the original.

Thus, your final entry must be marked as such. Changing your entry requires a different process.

Stand up and spin 10 times, point. Repeat 19 times. Problem solved. ;)

Looks like it's going to be a looong day for you

Mclaren, I'm thinking of using a blank wall, a blindfold and twenty darts. :)

dice, no doubt about it... I've been trying to keep up by pulling down photos as they get posted, ranking them in order of preference, and then putting in new ones as they come. But this is getting silly! :dopey:

Do I have to take a new pic or can I use one I already have?
Does it have to be taken in black and white or can I take a color pic and edit out the color?

It can be either new or old, and you can edit a colour pic or it can be taken in black and white, as long as it's a fully desaturated picture, and complies with the rules on the first page of the thread, it counts

^^^ What Brad said. Be sure to read the contest rules on the first page, then post a qualified image to the thread. Good luck!

I can use a picture I took in color and photoshop go to black and white? , sorry for my bad English

Right, wasn't sure if "Final entry" counted as any entry or only if you changed it. I did read the rules by the way.

Anyway, thanks and I've edited my post with the entry.

It's a fair question; glad you asked it. :) Thanks for editing your post - and good luck!

Hmmm, Dolp's entry feels HDR-ish to me, but I'm not completely sure. Mind shedding some light (heh) on it, Dolp?

Since this is my first 2.0 entry, I'm a bit nervous. But I'm just asking to see if it's allowed. I've added the Black and White filter in GIMP. And adjusted the curve value. Some other coloring options were added though. And I'm sure that there's anything wrong with it.

Edit: FINAL ENTRY

Ahrweiler - Street - Lamborghini Miura P400 - Black and White by FishyJuice, on Flickr

This should hopefully be better, this is just black and white [at least to me].
But If there's anything, just say it in the thread. :)

Congrats on entering the 2.0 for the first time, Fishy. It does look like there's a bit of a dutone effect, or color cast - for the sake of simplicity, I'm asking for strictly B/W images. Go ahead and edit it down, removing the colored toning and resubmit. Best of luck!

Terronium-12: I've been putting together my top 20 using full-size images, since detail is very important to me. Do you happen to have a link to a full-size, or is this 500 pixel preview the largest I can view? Thanks!

I only have the previously re-sized 800x450. Will that do?

No HDR at all : post processing under Lightroom3 only (don't have any soft to make HDR even if I'm thinking at sometimes)

Terronium-12: Sure - even a little bit bigger really helps me with comparisons. You can PM it to me, or you can edit your post and provide a link. Thanks! :)

SlipZtrEm: I'm glad you asked Dolp to elaborate - I thought it looked a little unusual. I believe his response (in post 139), as the image shows the sort of look that you get when you crank the fill light slider in Lightroom up really high, especially in the engine bay. A quick look at the EXIF does show that it was edited in LR3 - though I know that's not definitive in ruling out an HDR app.

Dolp: Thanks for responding to Slip's concerns. As far as I'm concerned, your image is fine... now, with 60+ images for me to narrow down to 20, it still might not make it, but at least it won't be for that reason! :)

Actually, it is not black and white. If you copy that image and open it in photoshop and desaturate it you can definitely tell that it's not b&w. Definitely some greens and browns in there.

It looks better desaturated btw. So Dolp, you might want to check that out before the end of this.

FINAL ENTRY

Seeing as it was my first attempt at B&W photography in GT5 when this competition started, I don't expect much. I'm happy with it.

That's what I thought. I can see it clearly, especially the greens!

Yeah, I'll fix that. It'll probably even look better without it.

Edited entry on post #134.

It's hopefully okay now.

You're right, 440 - I'd have noticed that when I imported them all into Lightroom for the sorting and final judging, but you've caught it early enough to give Dolp another chance.

There are probably others that have done the same thing, so let this post be a reminder to ALL that either Slip or myself will undoubtedly notice that during the final portion of judging and that photos that have any color cast at all will not make the final poll. Please make any edits and re-post before the polls close, if this applies to you.

It might have slipped by my passive radar, but my active sensors would have detected it soon enough - your judge isn't quite blind yet. Anyway, thanks to you and 440, we've caught it early enough for Dolp to get another shot. 👍
