CluB543 - Season 2Open

From a mulitplayer perspective, iRacing will always be a little more serious by nature of its' pricing and SAAS scheme. From an actual simulation perspect where it's just me, my wheel, and a car on the road, I prefer Project CARS. I can read the grip levels and just play naturally whereas with other games/sims, you have to think how to approach it and adapt your inputs to suit it. Maybe that's just me.

Good nights racing had a ball and made some free entertainment in the second race for most behind me :bowdown: Cheers Phil.b

Yeah tonight was good fun. The bmw vision is a great car to drive. Well done xr6 on both your victories.
Great battle in the 2nd race Matt. I thought i was going to catch you until that moment when i ran out of talent hitting the ripple strip and meeting sir wall lol.
Good racing everyone, pretty clean and incident free (apart from the bunch ups off the starting line).

Get ready for matterhorn next week people, this will be a tough one!
Scores will be posted as soon as i can find the time to do them.

Thanks everyone, see you all next week.
Cheers, Gastro.

Hi All, sorry about last night . . . broke my friggin wheel! Pulled my skirt up . . . turned everything off and went to bed with the ****S! Hahahahahaha I'll try not to be so churlish!! Good racing everyone . . . sorry about my screwups on the start line . . . obviously the wheel was playing up before I figured it out. Pulled it apart this morning before I came to work and found 2 broken wires - all fixed now . . . so should be ok from here on . . . Cheers Phil

All good phil no worries. See you online over the weekend perhaps.

Awesome to drive a racing car on proper tyres ! I must admit I had been practising and setting my car up prior to the night this time, getting ready to take on Nicko (figuring that this was probably my one chance to take it to him for a change)... but there you go. Happy with my pace, and no stuff ups. I was excited for Cole there for a while in race 2 as he started from pole, with me starting last but managing to get to the lead by turn 3 following some start line chaos, and he was second in that race for quite a while... I was actually saying out loud "Go Cole !", but it wasn't to be. :(

Well i believe this will be the first and last time i hold the lead for the season lol, even though the bonus round was a shocker for me. Thanks XR6 and Nicko for missing a round. And Gastro making an appearance on the podium. Nice one G

Even though it was a terrible round for me, it was good to see some of the other racers showing their talent. SlotR, Meggs and Cole in particular. And of course XR6 but thats not really a change of pace.

Good fun last week to say the least. See everyone at Matterhorn, should be interesting alright.

Well... a predictable result but actually not as bad as I thought it would be. I finally took Gastro's advice and fitted SH tyres to the front of the unwieldy GTO, and it is a different car. Still a slow, ill-handling car, but at least predictable now (unlike before, where going through the same corner three times using the same technique would result in three different outcomes). All hail king Gastro, champion strategist and tuner extraordinaire !
Speaking of kings, well done Nicko. That 1:05.9 was an amazing time (I couldn't get below 1:06.5 when I took the Gallardo for a spin in practice), but was amazed at how great that car is compared to the GTO (and confused as to why I didn't choose the bloody thing???). The drive out of corners is amazing (you can put your foot down and get out of trouble, whereas doing that in the GTO will get you into it). Put it this way.. while practising yesterday, my best time after 15 laps in the GTO was 1:07.5. I jumped into the Gallardo for the first time in months, and within 3 laps I had taken 1.2 seconds off the GTO time).
I think the idea was for the less experienced guys to have a better car to keep up, which doesn't work too well when the best guy in the field drives it ! Oh well, I was happy with second and happy to lap everyone bar Nicko at least once (including Gastro, which brought me great joy, even if my pass was less than textbook... but with a lap to go I spied him in the distance and was very determined lol).
Cheers to Phil and Cole especially, who are very sporting when it comes to being lapped and don't make it hard to pass, unlike someone I could name (but I don't want to embarrass slotrunner, so I won't name him..........oops, did I type that out loud?). :nervous:
I hate to say this, but I think I actually enjoyed the race (if you can call being 30 odd seconds behind a race!). The track is very challenging, and rewarding when you get it right. Thanks again Gastro for the tip..... but don't you dare have these cars again next season :banghead: The tuneable GT300s sounds excellent....

Thanks to everyone for a really fun night of racing. Very difficult track to get every corner right and when the tyres degrade the braking certainly suffers, especially on the descent into the final complex!

I second XR6 - GT300's provide some of the best racing I have ever experienced in Gran Turismo, and with tuning! Nice on G... :D

See everyone next week!

Good stuff guys. A challenging night had by all!!
I think i managed a 107.9 as my best time so to grab a 3rd place i am pretty happy with that. I somehow avoided all the chaos on the first corner on the 3 starting laps, going from last place to 4th by lap 4 i think...?

Had a good battle with AAG for about 6 laps, it was interesting to see the different handling between the GTO and the Gillardo on various corners.

Good job xr6 and nicko for lapping me lol
Textbook grinding overtake is what i would call it xr6 lol.
Well done to everyone for the efforts put in practising and showing up on time, thanks, it makes it a lot easier for me. I dont have the time to spend on gt6 like i used to so thanks again to everyone.

GT300 seems like a good idea, i have been toying with the idea for a little while now and have done a little testing so far, i just havent decided on cars or pp or hp limit. Of course it will include the magic number of 543.
If you guys want to try out some gt300 cars after the next round that would be great. Having people helping with testing leaves more time to do other things...

Cheerz guys, on to round 7 next week at twin ring motegi east course.

G-man.
