Yeah, a link would be nice, and I don't think it's worthy of it's own thread, much better suited in one of the existing ones.

From,
Chris.

well, since it has not been confirmed, there is no "link" besides a thread on NEOGAF .. but the source has been correct before.

i think this is a good thread to discuss the possible ramifications of such a purchase. i've also contacted my source about this, too.
I think it doesn't deserve it's own thread, so it's been merged with the main thread.

no thanks .. but too much hatred in this thread.

Sorry but no 'hatred' at all exists in this thread in any way.

May I ask why you have such an issue when people don't agree with you?

The only thing that has occurred in this thread is that a number of us have (what we believe to be) valid concerns about CMs acquiring the F1 licence given their current track record. That's certainly not 'hatred' and all the discussions on the subject have been level headed and polite, the only person who has 'thrown toys out of the pram' in regard to it is yourself.

I actually quite clearly stated that I was interested in exactly what you believe, as I said....

I've explained my point of view, and would genuinely be interested to hear yours.

....so I must admit to being rather disturbed that an accusation of 'hatred' appears to be being levelled at myself and other simply because we don't share the same view as you.

no thanks .. but too much hatred too many people in this thread do not agree with my opinion.
Fixed. :indiff:

It's a shame you feel that way, as so far most people have been very generous with their time and have accurately and with civility, shared their opnions, as well as offer related facts and info.

Well I trust the EP is far more aware of the game's specific programming goals as compared to the CEO but they do seem to contradict one another based on statements in interviews. Regardless this does give me more hope that they will make F1'09 a sim first with arcadey bits and filters included for Joe Q. Public. Still sounds like an awful lot of work for 1 years time, hopefully they can pull it off.

agreed - SONY never declared F1CE a "Full on SIM"

Of course given this statement CM has even MORE to live up to now and not only in comparison to F1CE. Does this mean we can now anticipate variable radiator size, progressive marble accumulation, brake duct variables, mid season aero package tweaks, etc and etc. I'm thinking the statement of "full on sim options, physics, rules and regs etc" leaves much open to the interpretation of the reader.

After GRiD this is the pinch of salt I am taking those promises with....

....you could say I'm a bit sceptical.

so will I, but it's nice that CM come right out & tell us there will be a separate Sim mode.

Yeah, I like the way they are directly connecting with the people who will buy the game. Other game makers could take a leaf out of their book.

Agreed, and many developers have for some time. In fact, many also host their own forums just like CM. 👍

While I share Scaff's skepticism, at least this is more promising than past comments from CM. 👍

It will be interesting though to see how the people that seem so eager for CM to take over the F1 console license feel should some or many of the promises/comments from CM insuring a completely different treatment, including full on sim options, physics, rules and regs etc simply do not, materialize in the final game.

I hope that isn't the case, but like Scaffs picture, I feel I need to keep a salt lick nearby every time I see these threads pop up, and won't be the least bit surprised if CM's F1 game ends up being nothing more than a tweaked version of GRiD, and missing many of the features and options that made F1CE such a great game. :indiff:

BTW: How many different threads do we need for CM's F1 game this far away from it being released? It seems every time there is any news someone creates a new thread just on it. In this case, the main CM F1 thread already has a lengthy discussion about simulation VS arcade, so it seems even more odd to create a brand new thread on a topic already in discussion in the main thread.

Or maybe MS7XWDC may want to ask Jordan to create a dedicated subforum for this game just as he was kind enough to do for F1CE?

i don't even see another thread, anyway .......

Seriously? You were the one that started it, posted more than anyone else in it, and had your other thread merged into it for the same reason:

MS7XWDC

I think it doesn't deserve it's own thread, so it's been merged with the main thread.

Perhaps you just don't want to draw any attention to what has already been discussed in that thread, or why you took the time to purposefully delete most of your posts in that thread, replacing them with nothing but a " :) " :odd:

Any way, if you really don't remember, or don't know how to even find the threads you started yourself, here is a link to make it easier on you:
:indiff:

Also, you'll find the majority of posts in that thread are discussing the importance of having a true simulation mode, and thus a perfect place to have posted this info.

As I said before, if you really feel there is a burning need to have so many multiple threads on CM's yet to be released F1 game, then perhaps the correct thing to do is ask Jordan to consider creating a subforum for the game, just as he did for F1CE.

I'm not expecting a sim when I read this in May
http://www.formula1.com/news/interviews/2008/5/7859.html

It typically takes us two years to develop such a game, but a lot of
the assets have already been created - we have a number of the tracks
because they already exist in GRID™, and we have the basics of the car
dynamics and handling.

Yes, simulation versus arcade. Codemasters’ history in TOCA Race Driver
has been very heavily weighted towards simulation, appealing to the
real hardcore fan - be they V8 supporters in Australia, DTM fans in
Germany etc, we have always recognised international traits. But if you
want to take the game to an even wider audience, particularly the
United States (for us the largest gaming market in the world), then you
have to appeal to a mass audience and so we blend the simulation with
an awful lot of arcade elements too.

The issue people have
today is time. This is time-based entertainment and the one thing we
all know is that time is constrained. People want to be able to pick up
a game, do whatever you do very quickly, post their times up on a
leader board and then go off and misbehave elsewhere. We want to be
able to offer both things within the game - simulation for the hardcore
gamers, but also an arcade experience that you can truly pick up and
play. I believe we’ve balanced that in GRID™ and I believe we’re going
to balance it in Formula One.

I have no sales stats but for me F1 games is a incredibly niche market on console or PC compared to F1 in real life. I think it's because it's harder to jump in and have quick play even with arcadier F1 games. It would need some GT5P graphics to draw people in and stick with it. I also think codemasters will be forced to really arcade it up to get the sales otherwise it ends up dead like all the other F1 games since 97 (last time I felt a buzz on console, no stats). It's probably the only way or no F1 games appear at all on console. So we just got to hope.

Gt5P GT5 can really help other games as people buying wheels seems to be huge and PS3 could really be a home for full sim games to appear.

and as I said :

"i don't even see another thread, anyway"
"So many multiple threads" ?? I searched back 2 pages, and saw nothing.
how about you get off my back, OK ?
you posted more about posting than about the GREAT NEWS that broke today.
---------------------------------------
????????????????????????

The thread being referred to is one you created, I find it hard to believe that you forgot you created it.

I do however clearly recall that you got rather upset when people disagreed with you, accused people of posting with hatred (which was quite incorrect) and then threw your teddies out of the pram and removed the text from most of your posts.

I have merged the two threads together, this topic is an extension of that one and does not warrant a new thread, however any repeat of the previous behaviour will be discussed by the staff. This is a forum, discussion and disagreement is a natural part of that, mass deletion of posts because people disagree with you will not be looked upon favourably if its repeated.

back on Topic:

It is a major step for CM to take, and the concept of them reading / replying on the forum is great, too !!

It is good that CM have at least acknowledged that GRiD left a lot to be desired as a sim (in that it isn't one) and that they want to redress that balance for the F1 title. However CM have seriously damaged there credibility of late and a lot of people are very, very sceptical, not just here the sim forum are full of doubt.

Its also not just a case as you mentioned earlier of renting it to try it, if CM do mess this up, that doesn't solve the problem at all. All renting it does is let me (and others) know if its a sim or not. If it isn't, then it doesn't solve the issue of the F1/Gaming fan base not having an F1 sim with the current sessions data.

CM have a very long way to go to convince people, and all we have at the moment are words promising a sim, which of late don't mean a lot from them.

Scaff

how about you get off my back, OK ?
How about you grow up a little, settle down, and stop looking for arguments?

If you continue to have this attitude, this forum will continue without your membership.
