Meh. Might be worth a second hand in a years time for me, I'll be picking WRC 3 up over this.

You do realize the original Grid was arcade right?
It was arcade with a little sim feel to it. To not have an inside view on GRID 2 is instantly going to kill that game for many people. Some of these developers sure make some poor mistakes with sequals. Just like Future Soldier forcing co-op modes with friends only. It killed the game before it was even released. Then GT5 having 800 standard cars, another massive mistake. GRID 2 is already going to kill their game by removing the inside view. Massive mistake. The inside views were amazing in GRID. I dont even know if I will even rent it at this point. 👎

At this point complaining about this here on GTP isnt going to help us, try voicing your opinion on codemasters forum. Codies may no change their mind but at least they will know how many people are pissed off.

Trust me, people are certainly doing that. Can't see it changing anything though and they certainly aren't going to backtrack and add a cockpit view now.

They are getting a huge backlash on the forums, so much so they commented on cockpits within hours of releasing the trailer.

Yup if they dont bump the date of Grid 2 and add an interior back into the game, its going to be a disaster.

Disaster is a massive over-exaggeration. I wonder from reading some of the posts on here and other forums whether people confuse the lack of a certain feature with the end of the world.

Disaster can be repaired, end of the world is much different. :sly:

I don't understand why cockpit view is so important at this point when we don't even know how the game's physics will be. Personally I find a cockpit view in arcade racers useless since they make the overall experience even worse.

Codemasters may say they're going for a real-life experience, but a real good sim on a console? I doubt it.

I'd say be hesitant to judge the no implementation of cockpit view until the reviews are out. GRID 1 was such a heavy arcade game I never bought it, even though its car list was impressive. There is arcade, and then there is going 200 km/h through the Dunlop chicane...

No racing game can even be considered a "real life experience" without a cockpit view. Its the same dang argument with GT5 back when the 800 standard cars had no interior at all. You cant simulate real life racing if you are sitting on the hood or roof of the car. Now if they want to focus on a full arcade racing game then removing the interior isnt as bad.

This view does not simulate a "real life experience". Same GT5 standard car argument.

Who gives a crap? The cockpit view in Grid 1 sucked ass. I never use cockpit view on arcade games unless its the only view it has. I believe Codemasters 5% figure, its just theres more than 5% complaining of which I bet half don't even use the cockpit view either.

Such a stupid argument, does NFS: Hot Pursuit have one? The Run? Burnout? Nope. From the looks of the trailer those are the game this is aiming for.

^ Most of us sim guys dont care about Grid's physics... Grid 1 was a blast to drive as an arcade. Hiring new drivers, getting to race for other teams, & watching the A.I. cars blow tires and go crashing into the wall  and if Grid 2 played the same - Great :D.

But it doesnt come off as a feature being cut out to focus more on other content - it just seems lazy on codies part. Anyone who drives with a steering wheel is going to want to play with interior view because that is where all the immersion is. Also on that note it probably means support for steering wheels wont be there either because by codies logic only 5% of their players only have wheels. :indiff:

I lost count of how many times Pedro Lamy spun in front of me.

It was a blast when your opponents weren't absurdly faster than you in the corners. :grumpy:

I might not complain about interiors but, tell me where are all those Grid 1 race cars? GT, LMP, Touring Cars, that was Race Driver GRID. That and some tuned and drift cars with fancy liveries. Where is GRID 1 spirit? Race tracks, Le Mans? Team management? Why all those Grid 2 liveries suck ass now? They looks so childish, seems to be done by a retarded 11 years old kid.

These new Codies just removed all the positive stuff from Grid 1, basically now they are trying to sell a crap game just using the name.

So glad that we have all played the game enough to make these judgements and not base them on a 2 minute trailer huh? :|

Could just not buy it?

No, not only, we reserve the right to be angry with these stupid developers and tell the world how lame they are. They basically killed the fun for a lot of PS3 users. Now we just hope pCars will be somehow decent on PS3 or these consoles will get a LOT of dust.

The 2 minute trailer and indie rock band guy interview were the biggest marketing fail I saw maybe even more than RIIIIIIDGE Racer one.

You know, doing the maths, Grid sold around 2 million across all platforms, 5% would be around 100'000, it sold 20'000 on PC, its entirely plausible that it is only 5% of gamers, including all PC gamers who bought Grid used cockpit view.

Just some stats.

Yeahhhh.. no. They're obviously not 'stupid developers' if they can come up with multiple games that sell over a million copies, and have been in the business for at least 10 years.. or am I missing something? You know if you're not happy, you can always design and create your own arcade racing simulation game, after all it's soooooo easy isn't it?

They dropped hints at doing this from now on during dirt 3 development. Apparently it takes up too much time and resources for the limited number of people who use them. If you don't agree with it then I would suggest don't buy it. Hurting them in the pocket is the only thing they will understand.

Personally, in arcade racers its not that big a deal.

They better not even think of doing that crap in Dirt 4 or I wont buy that game either. While Dirt 3 is an arcade racer it does have a lot of sim elements that justify a cockpit view.

Dirt was one of the games they surveyed to base the decision to cut cockpits....

If I were a betting man....

Come on, this thread need more trolls and more flames. Let's have a party here.
Ehm, thanks but no thanks.

If you don't like my opinion it's not my problem. They removed all the good stuff and now they are basically trying to sell an house with no doors and windows.

Oh and don't worry, people will keep boulding houses on their own, like usual... using rFactor bricks.
Problem is on consoles.

It's not your opinion bothers me, you're perfectly welcome to that. Rather it's your poor, unappreciative attitude and unwillingness to accept that developers don't design the game just for you.

there's more GRID 1 spirit on random comunity users than Codemasters head quarters.

People is not asking anything strange like.. "off shore racing",
just don't screw the good formula of previous successful game.

I really appreciate the cockpit view for most of the time, other than hot lapping and online racing, but in all honesty the cockpit view in Grid 1 wasnt that brilliant (on the 360): the rear view mirrors only showed silhouettes of the trailing cars and no (or hardly any) scenery. And the action outside the window was so spectacular even I preferred the hood cam.

Grid 1 was refreshing because of night/day racing on Le Sarthe, the crashes, the sponsorship and team mate gameplay mechanics and of course the crashes. Not because Codies made a particular good cockpit view.

So maybe time to move on?
