You missed Ford Focus and Toyota GT86, there may be more I hope..

Edit: Spotted a VW Golf R in VVVs GRID 2 preview part 3.

Ya, I just took the list from the site.

I've seen a few videos of the game and starting getting antsy to know what the car list was so I looked around for one and that is what I found.

aside from that, I don't think that the cars will "all drive the same" but it certainly looks much more arcadey then even the first grid which was already riding the "sim-cade" line. I mean, hell, even in NFS:HP this gen, which was 100% arcade racer, the cars handled differently.

We shouldn't conflate arcade driving style with bad game. It's not the case.

It's more like they are different genres. I happen to enjoy both Sim racers and Arcade style racers. I just treat and judge them differently.

That said, I still am not very excited for Grid2. I will end up renting/playing it because I play (or at least try) nearly all racing/driving games, but I honestly am not expecting much out of it.

Who said the cars behave the same?

News to me...
You're right, in the first vid from VVV the Codies guy being interviewed clearly states several times that the cars will all handle according to their individual specs (maybe slightly rounded in places) but the idea will be to learn how each car handles as you race it.

For those interested, this was recently posted on Codies forums, the Catheram-Lola SP300R.

My major complaint is, they basically said that there aren't cockpits 'cause they needed room for things like the race tracks. So, these tracks better be massive. Maybe they have the new 28km Swedish track. Either that or the "track streaming" means the game reads the circuits as ribbons so, instead of 6 laps of one track, the game would read it as a say, 12 mile race. Which would be a stupid way to do it. So, I'm hoping for some massive tracks. If Nurburgring is the biggest track in their game, their argument is invalid 'cause GT, Shift and Forza all have Nurburgring in their game and they all have cockpits.

(They also essentially stated that their game is better and more complex than GT and Forza....somehow I doubt that.)

Okay nevermind @II-zOoLoGy-II's got it. I thought the reason was due to tracks, I was like "REALLY!?" D:<I did read about that before though, so didn't remember, haha. :P

They said they didn't include cockpits because less than 5% of players use that view (based on their research done with their games); that allowed them to dedicate those resources (personnel, financial, and hardware) to other areas.

Has nothing to do with needing more room for race tracks.

Where you get half the stuff you post is beyond me.

\/

First of all, 🤬 you. Second of all, if you watch the 🤬 video you'll see that someone actually asks about the cockpits and they go "Well, the game takes a lot of space and resources and we're using this 'track stream' thing that allows for bigger tracks and because all this stuff took up so much room, we knew we had to get rid of something, and after looking around a bit, we discovered that the cockpit view wasn't used that much so it got nixed."

They got rid of the cockpit because they were "low on resources." They literally said they had pushed the consoles to their limits and needed more space, and, after some research, they found cockpits weren't actually used that much in other games, so not putting in cockpits freed up some room, which means, they probably WERE working on them, but then they cut them because they needed the resources.

I've been trying my 🤬 best NOT to post BS, but then you 🤬 swing back at me with more BS. And it's always you people not bothering to read or watch something I post. If you're too lazy to read or watch something, DON'T SAY IT'S BS! That's borderline abusive.

BTW, if you're going to be a jerk about me, you can't use my saying in your sig.

LMAO!

Shouden.

Grab a new tampon.

Breathe.

So, you're saying they cut cockpits because only 5% of players use it and it allowed them to use those resources in other areas?

Where did I read that before... hmmm.

Kinda. You still can go suck on rock. They did say, though, that one of the reasons they cut cockpits was because they needed room for their tracks. I'm not BSing. Watch the video. Maybe you should watch the video before you comment on people's posts. It's not that hard. I know it's a long video, but the time you wasted posting and reading my posts, you could've watched it by now.

See what I bolded?

Everything they have included in the game (smoke, crowd, the grass) can be a reason they cut cockpits.

Maybe if YOU were to watch the video again you would hear "We wanted a quality increase above the current games.....in order to push the general graphics quality up, texture quality, polygon count, track streaming,..."

Little bit different than "cause they needed room for things like the race tracks... " and then a paragraph of nonsense about how their tracks better be "massive." YOU made it seem like that was THE reason. So, excuse me for replying to YOUR incorrectly paraphrased statement.

I'm surprised I haven't been banned yet with how much the mods hate me. Sure it'd be an abusive of power, but it's not like they don't do that anyway.

And I never said he wasn't right. He is right, but he doesn't have to be a douche about it.

Anyway, I quite like the WSR idea to be frank.

As long as Ravenwest come back.

I am closer to a ban than you; I should be right now in fact; my last infraction was downgraded.... So, I am 5 points away.

I was thinking about this game today and what they said about no assists. Then I got a scary thought. Do they class automatic transmission as an assist? If they do thats a deal breaker for me I don't drive a car so my mind isn't that geared for gears(sorry for the pun lol). I also use a DS3 so that doesn't help things either if I'm already ready using my index fingers to modulate the gas and brake.

You can choose manual gears. But you cannot choose braking assist or steering help etc. Although most of gtplanet's users don't use these things, it means the overall physics will be very arcade-like so that noobs are able to finish or enjoy the game.

Therefore I'm not going to buy this one. I tried Grid the other day again and my god that driving model sucks. Way to arcade.

yeah I know they said no assists but I was just wondering if they class automatic transmission as an assist. But from your post it looks like they said you can have auto transmission.

You are aware that in the original Grid there was no driving line whatsoever? How much more Elite can you go? ;)

Don't worry BM I don't drive either but have found the transition to manual gearing to be far superior to automatic.

Just remap the control to accelerate R2; Brake L2; Gear up R1 and gear down L1. It takes a short while to get used to but works very well.

Without aids is good, if they don't dumb it down too much for the casual player that it hurts the rest.

I finally jump off the bandwagon, and it seems like half the forum jumps on it. And for me to buy it within the next five years, it'll have to be incredible.

Watched the video, gameplay doesn't look bad. Giuglietta liveries still sucks but I can close an eye if FFB and phisycs are ok. Races could be fun.
Demo or no buy obviously.

Why is everyone acting like this is supposed to be a hardcore sim? Its not and i personally loved Grid and it was a very good arcade racer.
