This post right here, what a winner:

But seriously as we transition to more of a vegetable based society were young kids never leave the house and don't know what things like the outside and exercise actually are, this is bad decision because a new generation of kids will grow up not knowing what it looks like to drive a car from actually inside the car. Games will evolve without this view and then what happens its gone forever.

Has this guy never heard of sitting in a real car?

As promised, the beastly AMG is very easy to get along with, and within a lap I'm scraping its nose on the barriers in the middle of long drifts that are easy to provoke and recover and don't scrub off too much speed.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-08-08-grid-2-preview-no-assists-please-were-british

This paragraph worries me. I don't want to drift unless it's a drift event. I want to race. I understand it isn't a sim, but why do we have to drift? Maybe I'm reading it wrong?

To be honest, from what I've seen it's going to lack the magic of the first game. Maybe it'll replace that old magic with new magic, but I think it's really sad that they're focusing on road cars when the last game had such a brilliant focus on S2000 touring cars and Sports Racing Cars...

Codemasters has finally concurred with what we've been saying for years. "While most devs seem to think 'more content = better game', the opposite is often true." As a result, they say they are 'not playing the numbers game'. Everything that's been included is there because the team deems it worthy. There's no fluff or Premium/Standard divide. It's top quality or nothing at all.

The second demo we played takes place on the streets of Chicago - and it's much more like the GRID we recognise, just so much slicker. We've never seen shiner bodywork and glass effects, and that's including Gran Turismo 5's photo mode. The word here is 'hyper-realism'. It's ludicrously detailed and grounded in the real world, yet it's clearly a super-charged version of reality. Shafts of light through iron girders, a beautiful hazy distance effect on the tops of the skyscrapers... it's like a playable, CG render of concept art and exactly what arcade games would look like now if arcades had continued from their '90s heyday.

The EGO engine has been developed throughout the process of making this game, and it shows. Perhaps the most noticeable overall benefit is that GRID 2's physics engine runs at 1,000 samples a second, which is twice as many as is closest rivals, Forza and GT. It makes for a very smooth ride. And it seems they can play the numbers game when they want to.

GamesRadar totally hyping this game big time huh?

Regardless, can't wait! :D :D :D 👍

The guy who wrote that article is clearly a HUGE GRID fanboy. I mean does he even know what it means when he says the physics engine runs at 1000 samples per second, and why it's better than Forza and GT? It doesn't sound like it.

Sure seems it Simon, another point where he says that GRID2 can compete with GT and Forza in terms of numbers if they want to...as great as a game it may be, eh, I'm not so sure about that.

I DO hope Codies prove me wrong though. :sly:

They better show us more soon because so far I'm worried from what I've read. Quite honestly I hope it doesn't look good. Racing games are the only reason I'm hanging on to my PS3 now, and this is the only one I was looking forward to. So if it looks bad, I might sell my PS3. It seems a bit overkill to have so much resting on one game, but I found new hobbies.

To me this game seems to be geared to the younger generation. From all the articles I have read it seems that everything is blown up and huge right in your face, even some of the previews. That sort of marketing works on younger people.
I'm not saying all but majority. The fast and furious crowd.

I actually stopped reading after this ridiculous paragraph:

t's true, GRID 2 is real. We've played it. We've crashed over the Armco of the Californian coastline and into the blue sky beyond. And we're here to tell you everything we can because we're ridiculously excited about it. This has the potential to be the best racing game of the generation. Perhaps ever.

I used to be a massive fan of Codies stuff. Mostly last gen though.

Broken rally promises.
Unfixed bugs in F1
Operation flashpoint hype, then abandonment.

I can no longer keep faith in these guys.

Ok it's aimed at the arcade end of the spectrum. I can deal with that. I can enjoy arcade racers as much as anybody. As it happens I'm looking forward to F1 race stars lol.

Just don't treat us like idiots, and further more don't alienate the 5% user base who could, end up being the ones who stay loyal and playing longer when the 95% bugger off.

But...wouldn't those of us who don't care whether they have cockpit views or not, the 95% of us, be the ones who stay loyal longer because we don't care? You know the funny thing is, I bet 95% of the people complaining about not having a cockpit, would hardly ever use it anyway. To be honest, though, I'm glad some people aren't gonna buy the game because of that, 'cause I always hated joining races in games and having the view or whatever restricted? It's fun for exhibition races and for just messin' around with friends, but, if it's a series or a more serious race, then, why not let players race how they want?

Gosh, I hate gamers. Always crying over something small. I actually believe that 95% bit of information. Sure, the real reason might have been the time and money, but, with an arcade game like Grid 2 and Shift...I bet hardly anyone uses the cockpit. I know I didn't in Grid 1, nor did I in Shift 1 & 2 nor in Dirt 1, 2 & 3. I do wish they wouldn't have even brought it up until AFTER the game was released though. Most people wouldn't even noticed it until then. But, I guess they're just getting the crying out of the way.
1: Shift was not an arcade game.
2: It also had some of the most realistic cockpit animation/sound/immersion of any game in this current day.
3: What the hell does Shift have anything to do with Grid or Dirt?

What I find funny is that those supposed 5% are very loud and vocal after this announcement. Either it's a coincidence that a large amount of that 5% are also part of the small percentage that go to online forums or it's more than 5%.

I bet they just asked what view do you use the most ,cockpit view would be fun if day night transitions are back ,oh aand hyped for Yas Marina

See this is the problem. What do the mods around here say constantly? Attack the point not the person/s.

You rabbiting on about whining members doesn't bring anything to the table.

It's a forum. The info was released today. This is the thread about the game for which the info was released today. Members post about what they have heared today, in the thread that's relevant about today's news.

I was attacking the point. And the point is, cockpits are such a minor thing. I mean, we played for AGES without cockpit views....well...actually, we started out WITH cockpit views, and only cockpit views. That was the first racing games. And then slowly, they went away, and no one complained then. I mean we went through NFS 3 to...what, NFS Carbon...like NFS 11 or something without cockpits. Maybe it's because I've played so many games without cockpits, that having one is fun, but it's more of a treat. Maybe eventually, down the line, every racing game will have cockpits, but...until then, I'm perfectly happy without any. It'll take me back to the older days of racing games.

Speaking of racing games, has anyone started a Car list yet? I've saw:

1. Dodge Challenger
2. 2011 Chevy Camaro SS
3. Ford Mustang GT500
4. Chevy C6 Corvette
5. McLaren MP4-12C
6.60's Mustang
7. 70's Camaro
8. Nissan Silvia
9. Nissan Skyline R34
10. KTM X-Bow
11. Ariel Atom
12. Lamborghini Aventador
13. Mercedes SLR McLaren
14. Pagani Huyaria

Speedster502
I don't want to write this game off completely yet...however, I didn't see a single real racing car in that trailer, in the interviews they haven't mentioned real racing cars either. Just 'sports cars'....not holding out much hope in this case! I won't be buying this without the real life racing series - it's part of what made the original GRID so good.

Also, lack of cockpit view is disappointing. I enjoyed it on the original GRID and I must admit I always use it on other games if it's been implemented properly.

This. It Better have racing cars in it.

You know, I'd try to make a logical argument, but I don't feel like beating my head against the troll wall. This is the same crap that every game apparently HAS to go through, Burnout Most Wanted being the latest. Here's one big point, do you want a clone or do you want innovation? New online, point to point, new cars, and no I didn't see a C6-R or 911 GT3, but how many cars in Grid 1 were street machines? Viper, Supra, NSX, Zonda, etc. So trolls, go ahead and have your "fun". I am glad it EXIST at all, and I'll reserve judgement until I get my hands on it, same as every other game.

This seems to translate to "This is my opinion, I like it, if your opinion is different you must be a troll".

Race Cars? Really? That's the complaint flavor of the day? What is this? The Baskin Robins of complaining? Can we PLEASE focus on the positive about this game instead of finding what's wrong with it? I mean, heck, look at Red Dead Redemption and GTAIV, those games are buggier than an ant hill and they're awesome. Why can't this game be great despite it's flaws?

I do pray for touring cars (I miss my Chevy) and the racing car part could still yet be a part of the game. They revealed the new point to point mode etc in the first few vids but I'm certain there is more cars/tracks to come yet :).

Think i've seen a BAC mono, and in the trailer in the night city track was that a Zenvo? ,there was an Agera as wellwell

Guys, what have you heard about the horrendous Grid original physics?

I loved it, and the damage etc. was superb, but, being passed by people who skid through every corner is annoying as hell. Have they fixed it?

Finally, someone that talks sense here. I'm glad GRID 2 has taken a different path from the first game. If you want to race touring cars and open wheelers, there are loads of sim racing games on the market to satisfy your needs. I love the idea of racing road cars on street circuits so I am interested in the new direction this series is taking.

you have to bare in mind that the community here in GTP are pretty much the elite ,the 5% so to speak not all opinions of the game are the same ones being voiced here
