I voted in the pole (the only one that did so far ), and my stallion is going to be Dale Jr.'s #88 Impala.

Oh and Captain, what image hosting site do you use?

I didnt floor it in the race to get to the corner first, i took it steady, hence maybe the later braking. I'm happy that I left suitable space in front.
The fact that I recieved contact, is what caused the crash. It would appear to be lag, but its never happened in any other race that ive participated in, apart from this series (seeing the next race which we started from the pit lane, things were smooth as anything and we had the same people in).

Because of this, i wont participate in any more, it shouldnt be like this, bickering over what happened or didnt. Its not fair on other drivers, and myself who get caught up in it. Good luck for the rest of the series (hopefully may be back if you trust me!).

I voted for Sat/Sun 1 hour races.

My choice for cars is Jeff Gordon #24 Impala.

I have other commitments for this next weekend in the afternoons both days (Pacific time), so if the races are finished by 19:30 (7:30 PM) GMT, I can make it, otherwise I'll have to sit out. Also, if there are more than 12 people that want to sign up for cars, I can bow out for this race.

Capt Roh, on the first page where you mention the car donations, can you add an anonymous list of what's been donated? I would like to donate but it would be good to get an idea of what you're looking for and what's already in the prize box. This might also give some additional incentive to donate. 👍

I could do this, but the idea at the beginning was to have random cars as random prizes. Kind of a surprise for entrants. In no way is donating cars for prizes mandatory either, so I'm not keen on the word incentive when speaking about donations ;)

However.. I guess the farther along people get into GT5 the more cars they will have. It also stands to reason that most of the cars coming up as prizes may be duplicates in your garage. It could therefore be a better idea to have a list of prize cars the winners could choose from.

Thoughts on this matter from all of the competitors would be much appreciated 👍

Oh and Talon, Photoshop mate :D

Carl Edwards 99 Aflac Fusion for me. I would like to drive Trevor Bayne 21 though. :)

And yes Captain. Sorry for ditching you to watch the 500. :sly:

I've just been reading up on the NASCAR series and before now I didnt actually realise they raced with restrictor plates. I knew all cars were equal, but I didnt know they capped the bhp/top speed.

Is everyone keen to recreate real life racing and bring the Max speed down to around 200mph? Or shall we keep the gear ratios stock for faster racing?

Here's food for thought while you're making your decision:

Wiki
Rusty Wallace tested a car at Talladega Superspeedway without a restrictor plate in 2004, reaching a top speed of 228 mph (367 km/h) in the backstretch and a one-lap average of 221 mph (356 km/h). While admitting excitement at the achievement, Wallace also conceded, "There's no way we could be out there racing at those speeds... it would be insane to think we could have a pack of cars out there doing that."

We could do like the real deal and limit th HP for the ovals.
I heard people in this forum talking about a 520hp limit would recreate acurate speeds in this tracks.

We may test this during the week.

Absolutely 👍 Just look for me online and I'll try and drag a few more guys into the lobby too. Did you mean 520PP rather than bhp though?

I'll be taking the Red Bull sponsored car...driver and number escape me at the moment 👍

As for testing...as always I'm at hand to help you Captain mate :D

edit: Got your PSNPM. OP updated

Also, with regards to testing, a perfect oppertunity just came up in a thread made by MrMuslanne. If you guys can, pop over and express interest for an 8pm(GMT) test session tomorrow.

Yes that's what I was thinking. I've got a few cars that may be more unique but most would probably be duplicates. Rather than the word incentive, I would rephrase it : so that my donation is not Lame:dunce:, it would be nice to see the list. But random is cool too.👍

An hour on an oval can get boring unless you have a 43 car field :)

I'd like to use my #42 Montoya car (I like the little bicycle mirror to watch out for the sneak up the inside cars :sly:); but will choose a backup (What cars are left?) so I'll have one ready.

Stock 892 HP, or less? Need to break in engine for 892HP

And an hour on Laguna would be preferred over an hour on an oval 👍

Love these beasts on a road course 👍

15: Re-entering to the track after running off:

A:

It is the responsibility of the car returning to the track to ensure there are no collisions so that no other drivers have to maneuver or brake suddenly to allow you to resume racing. If there's a chance of a collision, wait and be patient as other drivers have the right of way.

To be honest, I'm getting sick to death of blame getting put on to me. You spun off, entered the track as other cars were going by including myself and I had to get out the way, I didn't 'nearly wreck' you.

So far I have had four significant events, shin roh ghost lag rammed me (not his fault) in week 2 I think at Autumnring. Because of this I sorted out my connection to a wired set up.

At tsukuba shin roh nudged me in the final corner sending me off and damaging my car. Didn't bother me as it was a racing incident.

Last week the accident when I get rear ended by d3ano, which caused a several car incident, when I got put onto the grass. All hell breaks loose, with people accusing me of doing it on purpose. The following two races I was clean and didn't hit anyone, by the way. But I was hit by someone so that makes it ok.

This week, I proved I was rammed by lag and the driver who had the lag when viewed on replay by most people, his car was here, there and everywhere. While my car on everyone's replay was in a consistent position.

Now this second race, where I didn't touch anyone, I'm getting accused of nearly wrecking people just because I'm on the same bit of track.

I'm sure anyone who lapped me yesterday or on previous races will say I get out of the completely when they are passing, sometimes even stopping off circuit, as I done yesterday, so I can't be that much of a 🤬.

I think you misunderstood dhandes; I think he was poking fun at Captain Roh's pre-race lap that we watched so he could show us the proper pit exit; after which he spun out the car :), remember?

I do remember during the race yesterday seeing a car exiting the pits (short exit almost:dopey: and then realizing; jamming the brakes and reverting to the longer pit exit at Daytona 👍

Oops, in my haste a double post; apologies :embarrassed:

There is a list in the OP along with the rest of the info. All cars, including Montoyas unfortunately, which are taken are displayed there. 👍

As for vehicle specifics some heavy testing will be ran tomorrow. I posted a link a few posts back if you want to be involved. I'd like to go for realism ;)

Real is better 👍

I'll buy some more NASCARS for my 'stable'; but it's eating into my savings for a Ferrari F1 car (expensive buggers!) :grumpy:

Hooray for racing softs :)👍

NOTE: I'll choose the #14 Chevy Impala of Tony aka 'Smoke' Stewart, thanks!

Dibs on Montoya's #42 if akmuq is not in the race lobby!

Can i have the 2010 Jimmie Johnson #48 IMPALA (LOWE)

Girlfriends surname is LOWE she made me buy it LOL

Fearing a future nomination, no :scared:

Off to buy my Tony Stewart # 14 and practice; raced a lot of NASCAR online, but with tuned suspension, etc.

Grabbi'n my Montoya Target car if akmuq doesn't make it :)

hey cap dont think i will do this one but next week i wil see what cars ur are going to run

I have been doing a lot of online racing with Nascar, adjusting Settings like suspension and top speed adjustment improves oval performance.

Did some running with stock settings except downforce. OK on road tracks but a barge on ovals, most so on Indy.

I recommend allowing top speed adjustment (as you so for downforce). I am willing to share mine - 249 for Daytona 230-236 for Indy and 217 for road circuits (not including Daytona and Indy road).

Especially for Indy; or you'll be tempted to gear down from 4 to 3 (will cause havoc I think).

Well I do online NASCAR quite a bit and my setup is this

Aero was set to 20 40
Transmission was set to 224
LSD settings were all at 60
Ride height was at +15 at both ends
Spring rate was at 18.5 at both ends
Both sets of dampers were set to 8 at the front and 4 at the rear
Anti-roll bars were both at 4
Camber was 2 at the front and 1 at the rear (Stock tuning, I think)
Toe was 0 at the front and 0.2 at the rear (Also stock tuning, I think)
Brakes were set to 3 at the front and 2 at the back
annnnnnd the tires were racing hard per the specifications.
My car was a #20 that I bought, gave an oil change to, and bought the rigity improvement form the parts shop. HP was 892.

Drifter Joe posted this and I changed gears to 249.
This isn't that great at Indianapolis.

Also crashes are less common at Indy then at Daytona. Don't really know why but I think it's because you hardly ever see 3-wide on the Indy banking.
