For me, it was a great experience! Had much fun, did a stupid mistake been 5th, fallen to 8th place, finished 6th. Great fun! Thanks to organizer Shin, congrats to winner DOUQA! I love this Club! Have a nice race tonight. It is late hour for me in Greece to participate but have fun!

Yep, good point. Cheers shin was a great combo once i was up and running.

My replay shows dhandes getting slammed from behind, but absolutely no contact is made. Like he was slammed by a ghost car. I think maybe spark never knew it happened because of lag. Therefore, it sounds like spark made the contact, but only because he never actually saw dhandes' car coming up to him due to lag.

Lag seemed an issue; on my replay no one appeared to hit dhandes who appeared/reappeared just briefly for me. As others, I think a lag issue.

See you at Daytona!

Much better race at daytona, we started the race while viewing from the pit lane and not in free run which seemed to help, no one lagging at all. 👍

It seemed pretty intense at the front, the leading cars all seemed to be within a second or so for the first 10 laps.

Good clean racing gents, let's keep it up.👍

Well a frustrating evening race for me. The car felt different from the earlier race, I couldn't slow it down for turn 1 or the bus stop and I was sometimes getting understeer at corners when I was going 5mph slower than on the successful previous attempt.

I kept giving the odd tap in the braking zone, Crispy you should watch the entry to the bus stop on lap 6 from the rear view of your car, how I didn't hit you I'll never know.

Then when I finally gave up on lap 21 or 22 and parked it, I noticed the revs hanging. My throttle was stuck on. Checked the replay and found that it had been doing it most of the way through the race. I don't know why I didnt think to check it at the time because its been happening on and off since I got GT5.

I'll have to try giving them a clean, if they're knackered looks like I'll need a new wheel. Every cloud I suppose. 👍

Was I lagging dhandes? It might explain why I got disconnected. 2nd time today but the other race was full of terrible connections and I wasn't the only one who went out in that one.:(

Well I had a great time. :D Me, DOUQA, Crispy, and Paginas battled for first for the whole first ten laps, with next to no contact whatsoever between the four of us. 👍 Easily THE best race I've ever had so far since day one, and I cant wait for next week. :)

What a great race series Roh. 👍

Cheers guys. Single make same tune racing obviously has its benefits :D:tup:

I had a pretty terrible night in contrast though. The first race wasnt all bad, but I threw away my chance of a win with two pretty massive spins. That said, crispy's unfortunate feline accident meant I could capitalise on his misfortune  Felt pretty bad about stealing second place, but I know Crispy would of done the same ;) We're both racers after all. 👍

Second race was a bit baffling. First of all I started last!!? Even though my name was in the number one position before I started the race. I just got my head down though and I started climbing up the rankings. By the middle of lap two I'd made it up to 6th right behind Captain Disaster. We had a pretty awesome battle it has to be said, and within 5 or so laps we had almost caught the lead pack and I had victory in my sights. Alas it wasnt to be. CapD had a MASSIVE!!! tow coming towards the bus stop. And inevitably he slammed into the wall. I was much too close to drive straight around it so I had to take to the grass losing valuble time. It was my own mistake that lost me any significant position that race though. After the off I decided to pit and make some time to the leaders on fresh rubber. On exiting the pits however, I did the unthinkable and crashed into the wall! I was livid  I had to race 17 laps on one set of tyres with a wonky off side wheel!! Nightmare.

The worst thing was I had a podium in my grasp! Crispy joined right infront of me and I stayed in 3rd for almost all of the remainder of the race. Lap 23 however, tyres fried, I went too deep at turn one and spun. Cue Douqa and Talons immediate overtake. Wasnt anything I could do from there. Had no grip and was just bringing it home. Last lap was such a struggle though. Nearly had massive offs several times. Regardless I managed to hold ChaCha and CaptainD at bay for three laps. Only to get a bit sideways on the exit of the bustop and bring ChaCha into my tow. Rotten sod took my hard earned 4th place away from me 5 seconds from the finish  I dont think I'm going to let him play anymore :P Haha!

Off to bed now fellas. I'll post up next weeks series with tonights results and my conclusion with regards to teh Fuji incident at turn one.

Great racing again though chaps. You do us proud 👍

I just wanted to say thanks to shin roh and everyone else for todays races. I had a good time even though I'm finishing towards the back of the pack.

Also I wanted to post a few pictures from my replay at Fuji just to show that it must be lag that caused the accident between dhandes and myself.

The first 2 show that I was going much slower that what dhandes replay shows.

DSC04253.jpg

The next 2 show dhandes car acting as if it was hit, but I am clearly a few car lengths away with my car continuing to slow down.

A few more.

Also wanted to post these to show that my car has no damage, and that dhandes has major frontend damage but no rear.

I know that I am not the best driver, but I will always race as clean as I can even at the cost of being competitive.

:sly: I was fortunate enough to be just behind Captains D and R when they had the little incident at the bus stop. When I noticed that they both pitted, I figured either one of 2 things: they would have to pit again (making 2 stops) or they would finish on greasy wheels. So I tried to conserve tires for a few laps and stretched my first set to 15 laps. Knowing that I'm not quite as fast as either Captain, I figured the best I could do was make it a one stopper and then try to overtake at the end. It worked :) as at the end, I'm on a set of tires with just 10 laps on them and even with with an off at turn one (brushing the wall but no damage), I was able to re-overtake CaptainD, then hold him off - barely, and he was sliding all over the place. On the last lap CaptainR got slightly sideways out of the bus stop and that was the break I needed. I was going to be more gracious and not pass, but I am a rotten sod 👍

Thanks again to Captain Roh for organizing these events. The effort is appreciated.

Just to confirm damage, I had full damage to every corner and middle, not the hollow circles full red!

Looking through the pictures, the only consistent thing is the position of my car and how it reacts, it is always down the inside just behind the pack. When the contact happens all pictures show my rear end right spinning out, which is consistent with my picture of where the contact was, front right of spark69 car to my rear left panel.

What isn't consistent is sparks location, on my view, he is on top of me!, in his view he is just behind, and from others no where to be seen, so it would appear that everyone was getting the actual track position if my car but sparks location was a little 'erratic' to say the least.

Close racing until I slammed the wall after exiting the bus stop chicane :ouch:; then to the pits; fell to 11th, akmuq dropped out and I managed to claw back to 8th of 10 cars running.

Never touched the pink fridge magnet :)

Early pit stop lap 3 (my only stop; did 22 laps on one set of tyres :scared:):)

Great fun 👍

Great pictures! On the first picture, with you in front, the car behind was certainly getting every last bit of draft. I reckon we could have had a good race but Everytime I started to get close, I would either tap a wall or spin!

What a great race series Roh. 👍

Certainly was epic for those first ten laps!! Drafting down the back straight with four of us heading for the bus stop in a tight little pack was quite un-nerving at times, haha 👍

That said, crispy's unfortunate feline accident meant I could capitalise on his misfortune  Felt pretty bad about stealing second place, but I know Crispy would of done the same ;) We're both racers after all. 👍

Haha, yeah damned cat in race one got involved right at the wrong moment, just as I was heading round the right hand sweeper... cue rear wheel on the grass and a big spin  Gutted was the word as DOUQA and I were having an ace battle!

Race 2 was much better 👍

The first 10 laps were manic, with myself, DOUQA, Paginas and Counter-Steer all having a real Ding-Dong battle for the lead, suprisingly very little contact considering how close we were running...nothing more than a few tiny love taps into corners 👍

Managed to pull a slight lead and break Paginas's tow on lap 12, so got my head down and tried to increase the gap, whilst watching the map for the guys behind making their pit stop. Dived in at the end of lap 15, but Paginas got the jump on me with the pit stop and I rejoined in second, with Captain_Roh closing in behind.

Cue battle with Paginas part 2, which carried on for five or so more laps, before I managed to pull out a lead again.

Absolutley top racing yesterday, thanks guys, really enjoyed it...especially the second race :sly: And of course thanks to Captain_Roh for setting up and running these events, looking forward to this weeks 👍

Good pictures Blacquejack.

So angry that I disconnected because I actually had some chances of a good battle. But it wasn't to be.:(

I saw you spin on the first hairpin, rejoined the circuit just after the pack had passed, you the disconnected at that point. Shame, as me and you are on a similar pace, in the end I spent the entire race about 7 seconds behind blaquejack.

I couldn't believe how close the top runners were and for so long, top marks all round.

1st race (Fuji) started 5th on the grid, i somehow got involed in that weird accident at the start on turn 1, i was not impressed but hey i im a racer and mistakes happen so i pitted and then put some good laps in.
It was quite fun pushing to the limit and making my way back up through the field.
I ended back in 5th place which was quite cool so i didnt lose or gain anything.

2nd race (Daytona) wow 1st laps 10 laps were very scary breaking into turn 1 wow im suprised there wasnt any major contact just the odd kocks and rubs
I pitted 1st out of the leaders lap 13 or 14 i think, i thought it was too early but suddenly i saw i was in 1st wooo.
I couldnt haddle the pressure from cripsy so i lost it after a few laps tried to keep close but he was just too quick

Good race and thanks again Captian once again.

Yeah I was really close to a collision at the hairpin. Luckily some quick thinking and I pulled out onto the grass. Dhandes almost wrecked me  but we didn't make contact.

Edit: Did everyone exit the pits like the captain told you to? You know, on the inside of the barrier and spin on the next corner.

15: Re-entering to the track after running off:

A:

It is the responsibility of the car returning to the track to ensure there are no collisions so that no other drivers have to maneuver or brake suddenly to allow you to resume racing. If there's a chance of a collision, wait and be patient as other drivers have the right of way.

To be honest, I'm getting sick to death of blame getting put on to me. You spun off, entered the track as other cars were going by including myself and I had to get out the way, I didn't 'nearly wreck' you.

So far I have had four significant events, shin roh ghost lag rammed me (not his fault) in week 2 I think at Autumnring. Because of this I sorted out my connection to a wired set up.

At tsukuba shin roh nudged me in the final corner sending me off and damaging my car. Didn't bother me as it was a racing incident.

Last week the accident when I get rear ended by d3ano, which caused a several car incident, when I got put onto the grass. All hell breaks loose, with people accusing me of doing it on purpose. The following two races I was clean and didn't hit anyone, by the way. But I was hit by someone so that makes it ok.

This week, I proved I was rammed by lag and the driver who had the lag when viewed on replay by most people, his car was here, there and everywhere. While my car on everyone's replay was in a consistent position.

Now this second race, where I didn't touch anyone, I'm getting accused of nearly wrecking people just because I'm on the same bit of track.

I'm sure anyone who lapped me yesterday or on previous races will say I get out of the completely when they are passing, sometimes even stopping off circuit, as I done yesterday, so I can't be that much of a 🤬.

No way is there any fault on your part Captain. The blame is entirely mine after all, i hit the wall with you virtually on my bootlid! There was nothing you could do:ill:It was a real shame as we were having an enjoyable, close battle and making advances on the leaders. The Concours racing is a great series, congratulations Captain!👍

Yes, thanks Captain Roh for organizing; great racing with all of you 👍

Captain Roh - your signature -
'RUBGIN IS RACIN' !!!
is that supposed to be rubb'in, or is it a rugby reference :)

Captain Roh - your signature - is that supposed to be rubb'in, or is it a rugby reference :)

Hehe, he took it from a message I sent him on the PSN a few months back

I was quoting the words of Dick Trickle "Rubbin' is racin'", but I goofed up and put Rubgin instead. Shin then took my grammar failure, and attached it to his sig, for all to make mockery of my error, haha 👍

I really wish I could have made the Daytona race. I had a great time in the first race even though I spent most of it getting out of the way. But it was my first serious online race and I think I learned a lot. Thanks for setting this up Roh. thanks for the race guys, hope to see you next week.

Just a quick note guys... I appreciate the photos, but if you're going to post them here can you keep them to a maximum width of 600 pixels please.

First things first I wanted to address the crash at turn one. Obviously there is a bit of confusion as two different people have two different takes on the same incident. I say takes, they seem to have two completely different replays too.

Anyway, this is how I saw it.

First off, this is the rough braking marker for turn one from the grid. Bear in mind I started from the first row. I also made the apex of turn one. Crispy hasnt started to brake yet as you can see, and he went slightly deep in the first corner:

350z2.png

Dhandes, you started farther away from turn one, eigth on the grid. You also had a tow from the cars infront, and this is where your brake lights came on. I noted that on the brake indicator no brake force had been applied yet. At this point you were literally overcoming the deadzone. You were a car length ahead of the braking point, and it was probably a car length or two later where and significant braking force came into effect.

350z3.png

I also noticed that both Rotorist and Burr hit the brakes at almost the same spot. They both overshot the first turn but were out wide so didnt make any contact. Meanwhile, Sparky made a poor start and was way way back when the accident happened. I took a shot of his car at the moment Dhandes inpacted ChaCha.

350z1.png

Also, since Dhandes showed Sparky had received damage, I followed him around the lap. I didnt notice any noticable lag whist doing so, and I expected him to pit.. which he didnt

350z5.png

And nor did he on lap two

350z6.png

So in conclusion, from my perspective there was definitely some kind of lag involved. The actual replay showed although Dhandes braked too late, his car slowed down much much quicker than should be physically possible. Shortly after his car lagged into ChaCha. Sparky however never came close. But none of these things are in any way conclusive.

I cant make any ruling either way obviously. Dhandes replay is clear to see as is mine and a few peoples I asked for a second opinion. I cant be sure who was at fault, so no action will be taken.

One thing that is consistant through all of the race incidents is,.. well, Dhandes. I'm not for one second implying that its any way your fault, but I have to start considering the possibility that its actually you who is experiencing, or creating lag.

The only thing I can suggest is to check and re check your connection. Make sure no one else in the house is using the internet during races, place your PS3 in a DMZ or port forward for GT. Make sure you use an ethernet cable, reset your modem before coming online, clear cache... anything. Everything! Just be 100% sure your connection is the best you can get. 👍

Right, I put together a few photos this week. I enjoyed the combo so much I thought it approprite. Loving the 350zRS. Will definitely be revisiting this car so you can all look forward to that.

Ooh one thing before I go into the race report: Congratulations to Crispy for his first overall series win 👍 He's been on the podium a few times and was probably worried he was always going to be the brides maid ;) Well done mate. Second place was a tie between myself and Paganis. Obviously being the series host I gave myself second! Haha! Only joking. Traditionally the decision goes to whoever had the most race wins. Neither of us won a race so I went with the margain at which we lost. :dopey: Follow? lol. When I came second I was 6seconds behind the leader. When Paganis came second he was 13seconds behind the leader. Thus I performed slightly better. Subsequent draws in points will follow this model.

Anyway FUJI!!!!

Yep Fuji. I love Fuji. Fuji Fuji Fuji  I was really looking forward to racing here. To be honest its one of the very few occasions I've been here since prologue. Very fast circuit requiring immense amounts of concentration. The race started off great from where I was. Starting second on the grid I made a decent start and held my nerve to the first apex. Right on the back of Douqa I was hastling him straight out of the trap. We jostled for a few laps and I knew it was going to be a good race.

350z10.png

We were tightly grouped at the front and the competition was fierce. I was driving on the edge to try and break away

350z8.png

It was only the first few laps but mistakes were starting to creep in already. Fuji is a hard mistress

350z13.png

I think it was lap 4 when I had a MASSIVE off! Huge i tell ya!! Did a full 360 totally out of control and almost ended up in the wall. Thankfully I managed to downshift and regain traction. Just!

350z9.png

It left me having to make up time and push hard. Put in some great laps to be fair. I think by the end of the race I'd acheived the fastest lap of 1'43.038. Properly chuffed with that. I was also happy to see I wasnt the only one making mistakes

350z11.png

It allowed me to catch up again, and also take oppertunity of the rare occasion of driving through smoke :D

350z12.png

A few laps on we started to encounter backmarkers. Douqa and Crispy who were a little ways ahead seemed to get through with no problem. I however got stuck behind Burr who re entered the track and almost collected me. He managed to swerve around the track in the slowest complex costing me valuable seconds. It did give me a chance to do my favourite thing and flash the high beams though :D

350z14.png

Since I'd lost time I decided to pit

350z19.png

I came out with CaptainD close behind so I gave it the beans. I was managing to close the gap slightly to the leaders but realisticly I didnt think I could get any higher than 3rd. Then this happened!!!!

350z16.png

In this photo I have actually captured the exaxt moment of cat attack. Or as I like to call it, racing drivers excuse!!

350z15.png

I pounced on the oppertunity (pun definetely intended) and dove into battle with Crispy

350z17.png

We were 2 laps away from the finish and neither of us wanted to give up that second place. A great battle ensued with clean close racing. On the final lap we were closing on traffic fast!! I thought it would be a hinderence but it actually helped my cause. On exiting the final corner of the race Crispy was close! But Burr was just ahead and he unwittingly dragged me to my second place. Crispy missed out on second by just .05 of a second!

350z18.png

Up next was Daytona. Another favourite from prologue I was looking forward to it immensly! I put in a few practice laps and the leaderboard told me I had pole. Imagine my surprise when I started the race and my car was sitting in last!

350z20.png

I didnt want to restart incase it messed up the grid even more. Instead I just put my head down and started to make up positions. I took 3 guys out of my grid box and the leaders were tantilisingly close

350z21.png

I managed to keep up progress through the field and rounding the corner to start lap 2 I'd slipstreamed past Burr and was aiming for Captain D

350z22.png

Captain D and I had a great battle. 7 laps of clean close racing at full speed. I was having a whale of a time. I'd put one up the inside

350z23.png

Next lap I'd put one round the outside

350z24.png

I even stuck one on him through the bus stop

350z25.png

There were a few hairy moments mind. Coming into turn one sideways isnt ideal for example!

350z30.png

But all the while, and even travelling at 175mph just inches apart, we never flinched

350z26.png

Soon enough we'd all but caught the lead pack and I could smell the exhaust fumes. And VICTORY!!!!!

350z29.png

But alas, on this fateful lap Captain D got his braking slightly wrong into the dreaded bus stop.

350z28.png

I was travelling much too fast and much too close to avoid the accident completely. And when Cap D bounced back over the track I had to take a avoiding action and take to the grass. Stranded out on the green stuff I watched the leaders pull out a lead. I did make some progress as I told you in an earlier post. But I was destined to come home in 5th

350z27.png

And there you have it. Another successful concours series. Thanks to all you guys who make it what it is 👍

Please check the opening post for new race schedules and race results :)
