: IMPOTANT ANNOUNCEMENT :
Opening posts have been updated. Poll results are conclusive. ( And also strange since only 11 people have chosen a car!?
) Laguna Seca will be ran by itself on Friday 25th 8pm(GMT). Both ovals on Sunday 27th 9pm(GMT).
For this weeks concours you will need a NASCAR
and all three sets of racing tyres! Power restricted to 513bhp and default settings for everything else. Downforce in no longer optional!
Rules of racing: No intentional driving below the yellow line when racing. You cannot use this part of the track for overtaking. On pit entrance at Daytona you will get below the yellow line after the final turn as quickly as possible. When exiting the pits at Daytona you will
stay below the yellow line as long as possible so you are up to speed before merging. On pit entrance at Indy you will use the slip road underneath turns 3 and four. When exiting the pit at Indy you will use the slip road underneath turns 1 and two. Merging onto the back straight when at speed.
There wil be no qualifying this week. 5 lap practice races will determine your grid position for the race.
I would like to incorporate cautions too. Although it may be too difficult to implement. The way I imagined it is that whoever crashed and lost the pack would use the chat function to say they had fallen off the circuit. Leader will release the throttle and cruise down to 70mph. The pack will keep position and do the same. Crash victim would use chat again to say he had caught the pack. Leader will carry on with cruise at 70mph until he gets to the start finish, then hit the gas. No one may overtake until they have also passed the start finish line. (
Please post your opinion on this rule. I've yet to decide whether it will go in. Also, people who abuse the rule after they made a wreck on purpose or just lost the pack to bad driving will be dealt with)
Damage will be set to off for ovals but you all know my position on clean and fair racing. This isnt an excuse to drive like a lunatic! People battering other drivers will be given a first and final warning on replay investigation.
This week is a test of patience and throttle control. You HAVE to be aware of where people are around you. Look left right and behind at every opertunity. If you're gunning for the number one spot to try and lead from lap one you're doing it wrong. Its a long race. Take your time, race clean, and respect your fellow racers. That is all.
Oh yeah the resizing isn't a problem (I use GIMP, a great program similar to Photoshop but for free
), but the Photobucket quality isn't doing the GT5 images justice. I noticed his pictures were nice and clear, so that's why I was asking. Looks like I'll have to learn how to use my album.
First rule of posting pics online is save in .png format. By far the best lossless file I've found. Second, if you have the option when resizing your image (to 600px wide
), always use Bicubic Sharper for resampling. It works best for reductions. Finally, use the image tags here at GTP to link to the Direct Image hosted on Photobucket. Preview images often suffer with artifacting like BlaqueJack's did. Hope that helps.
Dont mean to sound funny dude, but you're
always the guy asking questions. Read the opening posts carefully. If I am allowing you to set up your car it will say so clearly. Otherwise, like week one until now, everyone runs a default car. 👍
