I wont be able to test with you guys tonight, but i'm eager to know the results.
I hope we can make this beasts behave like they do in real life.

Whoops! Make that the Hamlin No.11 Camry, Doh!
I'll take the #20 Joey Logano Camry then pleae Captain

Added to the list. 👍

No problem with you guys sharing tunes and whatever, but dont get too carried away because I've yet to decide how the car will be set up. Power in particular is going to be very different to what you're probably used to.

Keep your eyes on the thread for an update later this evening. I should have a definitive tune for everyone to practice with :)

Also BlaqueJack,.. dont exceed a 600 pixel width with your pictures please. I've asked before and you obviously missed it, but I like things to be clear, concise and uniform in this thread. Massive photos make the place look all disjointed and I dont like it. If you're unable to resize or host on another website, just post a link to your album with the race report 👍 Thanks dude.

My tune can do sub 42 without draft on Daytona so you might as well use that but with a different transmission. Also, it's rubbish on Indy.:grumpy:

Roger that (I did miss your earlier note on the subject:dunce: ). I thought the GTPlanet site auomatically regulated pic size :dunce:

Look for future pics in my GTP Profile Albums if you like.

You should see my freaky checkerflag #14 pictures I took last night (through the smoke created a weird effect) 👍

Use this Link to my Album :)

No worries dude 👍

Just had a look at the pics and they're pretty freaky alright. The normal shots are sweet 👍 Too bad upoading them here adds an absolute mass of artifacting! The picture quality is terrible!

Do you have photoshop at all? Or some other image manipulation software? Png files are by far the best choice for posting online mate. You should look into it ;)

By way guys.. NASCAR test begins in an hour! Join the lobby I'm in at 8 to help test for this weeks series 👍

So these are the Concours boys...

:D

Welcome mate 👍

If you like what you see stay a while. Its an open series with different cars each week. Clean close and equal racing is our bag. We've had some properly close competitions across all combos so far. You're welcome to join mate. Just read the OP's and see what you're getting in to ;)

NASCAR testing is about to get underway guys. You need a NASCAR :P running 515bhp (restricted) on Racing Mediums. See you there

Captain what do you mean by Photoshop? Don't you need to upload to a site like Imageshack or Photobucket to put the pics here?

Can't practice in A-Spec because at that hp setting the A.I. get away :grumpy:

Few run online at that low hp :grumpy:

Lonely (time difference acute during work week) practicing here in North America. :grumpy:

Looking forward to Laguna Seca 👍👍👍:)

Talon:

He mentioned same to me; I think he means adjust the picture size (pixels) smaller using any good software, before inserting image.

For now I am just linking to my pictures in my GTP Profile albums, cheers.

Please post hp settings too :dopey:

Oh yeah the resizing isn't a problem (I use GIMP, a great program similar to Photoshop but for free :dopey:), but the Photobucket quality isn't doing the GT5 images justice. I noticed his pictures were nice and clear, so that's why I was asking. Looks like I'll have to learn how to use my album. :dunce:

: IMPOTANT ANNOUNCEMENT :

Opening posts have been updated. Poll results are conclusive. ( And also strange since only 11 people have chosen a car!? ) Laguna Seca will be ran by itself on Friday 25th 8pm(GMT). Both ovals on Sunday 27th 9pm(GMT).

For this weeks concours you will need a NASCAR :dopey: and all three sets of racing tyres! Power restricted to 513bhp and default settings for everything else. Downforce in no longer optional!

Rules of racing: No intentional driving below the yellow line when racing. You cannot use this part of the track for overtaking. On pit entrance at Daytona you will get below the yellow line after the final turn as quickly as possible. When exiting the pits at Daytona you will stay below the yellow line as long as possible so you are up to speed before merging. On pit entrance at Indy you will use the slip road underneath turns 3 and four. When exiting the pit at Indy you will use the slip road underneath turns 1 and two. Merging onto the back straight when at speed.

There wil be no qualifying this week. 5 lap practice races will determine your grid position for the race.

I would like to incorporate cautions too. Although it may be too difficult to implement. The way I imagined it is that whoever crashed and lost the pack would use the chat function to say they had fallen off the circuit. Leader will release the throttle and cruise down to 70mph. The pack will keep position and do the same. Crash victim would use chat again to say he had caught the pack. Leader will carry on with cruise at 70mph until he gets to the start finish, then hit the gas. No one may overtake until they have also passed the start finish line. (Please post your opinion on this rule. I've yet to decide whether it will go in. Also, people who abuse the rule after they made a wreck on purpose or just lost the pack to bad driving will be dealt with)

Damage will be set to off for ovals but you all know my position on clean and fair racing. This isnt an excuse to drive like a lunatic! People battering other drivers will be given a first and final warning on replay investigation.

This week is a test of patience and throttle control. You HAVE to be aware of where people are around you. Look left right and behind at every opertunity. If you're gunning for the number one spot to try and lead from lap one you're doing it wrong. Its a long race. Take your time, race clean, and respect your fellow racers. That is all.

First rule of posting pics online is save in .png format. By far the best lossless file I've found. Second, if you have the option when resizing your image (to 600px wide ;)), always use Bicubic Sharper for resampling. It works best for reductions. Finally, use the image tags here at GTP to link to the Direct Image hosted on Photobucket. Preview images often suffer with artifacting like BlaqueJack's did. Hope that helps.

Can we set up our car?

Dont mean to sound funny dude, but you're always the guy asking questions. Read the opening posts carefully. If I am allowing you to set up your car it will say so clearly. Otherwise, like week one until now, everyone runs a default car. 👍

Im up for the caution if everyone can understand it lol, some people have trouble reading hehe :scared:

l think full lap cautions are a good idea , but will be difficult to pull off.
Mics will be a handy appliance to have , especially on the ovals.

:) GO PEANUT GO :)

Jeff Gordon #24 Impala is up for grabs.

I can't make the race times this week. That's mid-day Sunday for me (what is this timezone thing?) and I've other commitments. Someone that voted  should claim a car!

I think cautions will be necessary because once you lose the draft with this hp setting you'll never catch up to the pack.

Now I have to take Friday off work because I love the NASCARS at Laguna Seca

 Work must love you! haha.

You are right about having to stay in the draft though. Trouble is I dont want cautions to be used as an excuse to catch back up. Only people who wreck from a pack can call a caution.

The best scenario would be to have a spectator to call it, but I dont think that'll ever happen.

Ok that does help, all I needed to know is that Photobucket has a resize option. :dopey:

Let me try it now...
NrburgringNordschleife_1-1-1.jpg

I would post a concours race pic, but I don't have any.

Count me in this weekend. I've got a new ISP so hopefully I will stay put. LOL I have no choice so I will take car no12 which I believe is the Jeff Gordon #24 Impala

edit: mmm did not read properly. The above car was chacha's car, so that makes it car no 11. I wiil take it so that leaves one more open space on the grid

Maybe there is a volunteer race steward (watcher), and volunteer pace car/safety car indivdual(s) out there?

I know of one racer who sets up his GT5 NASCAR online room races like that-dedication

I am dreading the default top speed setting already; I would prefer if we all agreed on a setting for each track/circuit; as I don't think I'll reach anywhere near 249 mile an hour at any track! Especially with only fifty something percent power :ill:

Thats the point. The default gear ratio has been coupled with the restrictor plate to provide racing as real as possible. These setting allow a top speed un aided of 185mph. In the draft you can reach a smidge over 200. Just like restrictor plate NASCAR 👍

I agree the ratios could be better. Actual NASCAR run with more like 450bhp, so closer gear ratios would be required. Didnt have time to test unfortunetly, but I also wanted to keep variables to a minimun. This isnt a NASCAR race series thread. Its concours. Cars are set to be as equal as possible, whatever we race ;)

Just wanted to mention too that we all seem to have forgotten the 13th NASCAR. The Joey Logano GAMESTOP camry! Does anyone have that? Would be great if you could use it if need be 👍

I've been trying to aquire one, but apperently the only way to get it is with a code :( AND it only works for NTSC discs 👎

I have the Gamestop NASCAR, I can use it if you want me to. :) If so, Dale Jr.'s car is back up for grabs.

And the Gamestop car advantage (897 hp) is eliminated by the 513 (b)hp limit.

Note: better to use power point restriction (599) when creating an online race for practice. 513 (b)hp is not when of the available menu choices when I set up my (practice) race online.

Yes; I am using a vacation day to take part in Friday's race at Laguna Seca. :)

D'oh :ill:

Apologies, but I will miss Sunday's Race, because I have a meeting for work (time and a half; so I'll take Monday off!).

Ill be lurking on line on Saturday though :)

You know when I said I did some testing? What exactly did you think I was doing? lol. I appreciate your concern but all these suggestions aren't necessary. Its all under control 👍 The restrictor slider allows the cars to be set at 513, even though the restriction settings are set to 512. This happens when the car is bedding in and is between percentages. Some people will only be able to select 512 as well though depending on their engine progress. Either way it makes no difference. And besides the next step up is 522! Stop trying to make everyone go faster!! :P

As for the GAMESTOP car Talon I would appreciate if you used it. Not sure anyone else is going to join this week though so just be on standby till they do 👍
