Well, this week from my perspective is definately a case of 'What could've been....were it not for massive driver error!'
Really enjoyed this combo, the car was fantastic to drive, so this I thought would put me in good stead for the races as I felt confident with the way the car handled.
Race 1: Suzuka, had a great start and managed to get into 3rd at the first corner, from then on a fantastic race with Paginas and 'The Captain
' ensued. Got myself into the lead on lap 3 (I think) and set about trying to pull a gap. All was going well until I exited the degners, lost the back end and speared into the wall under the bridge. Luckily for Shin (Unluckily for me
) he avoided my accident and took the lead back again. My car didnt register any damage on the screen, but it definitely didn't drive right afterwards, and after repeated spinning out, I pulled into the pits and retired! That being said Suzuka is my 'Bogey' circuit, never do well there and usually crash regularly
Race 2: La Sarthe
Love this track, so knew if I kept my head together for this one I'd hopefully fair better than at Suzuka. Got a good start and kept in with the pack of cars ahead, not really thinking of making any moves until the group had settled a little. Going down the Mulsanne straight, positions were changing several times within the group until the second chicane, where something had obviously happened behind myself and Paginas (leading) as all of a sudden it was just the two of us! A fantastic race followed with plenty of overtaking and great racing, until I the tow down the straight and didn't quite pull out in time before Paginas hit the brakes and I made some modifications to the rear end of his car. I could tell I'd damaged his car as it was twitching and sliding about alot, and my front end wasn't looking to handy either, but we kept going and in the end Pag managed to pull out a nice little lead, despite having a wrecked car, and went on to a well deserved win 👍
Race 3: Monza
Started on pole, and cocked it up immediately by braking to late and straight lining it into the concrete blocks at the chicane...race over....or so I thought.
Front end properly mashed (Yet again), I managed to get going again and after several laps got myself back up with Capt D and Shin who were leading. Cue the next set of brilliantly raced laps, with the three of us constantly trading positions, although I was a little reluctant to get to close as the broken front suspension made the handling a little random at times. The close racing carried on right up until the end, until I had another 'Driver failure' moment, lost concerntration and spun exiting the Lesmo corners. I watched in despair as Shin and Capt D disappeared into the distance, but managed to salvage third place, which after considering how the race started, wasn't a bad result at all 👍
Well done to 'The Captain' for taking the honours this week, and thanks to all the guys who made this week another set of really enjoyable races 👍
Looking forward to the next round
