This week we return to the circuits, and what better way to hit the track than in one of the greatest sports car ever made. Its precise engineering can be felt in every corner, however it had quite a tentative start! Some of you will remember the 5.0 litre V10 TFSI twin-turbo engine bursting into flames at the Nurburgring. I assure you every precaution has been taken to prevent this from happening again :D We've wound down the engine just to be sure, but dont worry, she still goes like stink!

Scheduled Event: Sunday 6th 8pm (GMT)
Track: Suzuka Circuit [15], Autodromo Nazionale Monza [15], Circuit De La Sarthe 2009 [6]

Car: Audi R8 V10

Happy Racing Campers 👍

.

Now I know Captain Roh would not choose a car with no cockpit view :)

So before I buy a new Audi; I want to make sure I get the right one; especially since I am so close to my 10 million credits for buying the F1 Ferrari

Do you mean:

Car: Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro '09

The 5 litre TFSI was the engine that caught fire in testing. They've since replaced it with a Lamborghini 5.2 FSI V10.

To be crystal clear, the R8 we'll be using is the most expensive in the dealership.... The V10! :dopey:

I'll change the OP.

Don't believe so.

Of course

KYLB0T (0 is a zero)

I'm not sure I will have the time to participate in many scheduled events for the next couple of months due to final exams being just around the corner, but I certainly wouldn't mind having some like minded drivers on my friends list for when I have the time to pop on :)

Can I participate in this Sunday's Race Capt?

We'll have to have a practice race in the week sometime, if your lag issues have been resolved then of course you can race :)

yes yes no yes

Welcome to Concours 👍

No problem mate, I'm on pretty regular and I always try to get members in a lobby for some fun. I'll add you today and race you soon hopefully :D

I think I'm gonna sit this one out, I don't really like the R8 as a car, and i hate driving 4WD at all. :ouch:

Seriously mate, I think you'll love this car! If you dont have one already you need one for your collection anyway right ;) Buy it, tune as required (all mods are reversable this week) and take it for a spin. MR car with 460bhp = lots of fun trust me. Power oversteer, not even a hint of understeer, its a dream and a new favourite of mine 👍

Is this car really a V10??
I read the description in the game and it says its a V8. Well, the description for both cars seem a lot similar, at least in my language. :)

Ah, except it's not. :sly: I'll give it a shot for sure, but I remember a prologue WRS week with the R8 at Fuji and I got bored and frustrated after like 5 laps. :scared: It may have changed though, so I'll tune one up tonight. 👍

I don't think I'm going to make it tomorrow. I'm semi-busy, don't know the tracks nearly as well as I should, and am not a fan of the car. Have fun guys. 👍

Guys I wont be able to make it for the first two races. I've only just noticed the start time was 8pm and I have another race before. Hopefully I'll make it in for La Sarthe. 👍

great racing tonight chaps, had a blast just need to work on my breaking into the first corner lol

Great photos Burr!

I decided not to take any myself or do a race report this week. I thought some of the guys who havent posted here in millenia might do the honours ;) lol. Everytime I come to the thread its floating around on the second page somewhere... and then you all wonder why we have half full grids!

I appreciate the effort massively from those who post regular 👍 You're the concours life blood guys, thank you :)

As for this weekends racing it was bitter sweet for me. I won the overall series but I couldnt help but feel bad for Paginas. In the final race at monza I could tell it was going to be another really close battle for the top spots. Unfortunetly the first and only time a little lag showed its ugly head paginas was the victim. We were racing bumper to bumper from our grid boxes, but going into the second chicane, despite Paginas appearing to be at least a car length ahead, I lag bumped him. From my perspective Paginas lagged from a cars length away right to my face and back again. I swerved and avoided contact but in the next corner he pulled off the race line and crawled down the back straight. I didnt know until later that his car aquired some drivetrain damage. Sorry dude. :guilty: If its any consolation I know how you feel though! Between Captain D and Douqa they had reduced my rear end to scrap metal at Le Sarthe! I could only acheive 5th there but hey ho. When all's said and done I guess thats what you call swings and roundabouts ;) In the end there were only 2 points in it so I'm sure you can get me next time 👍

The other 99% of racing was absolutely brilliant it has to be said! Enjoyed it immensly! Thanks again to everyone involved for making another successful concours week :D

Results and current criteria updated

Well, this week from my perspective is definately a case of 'What could've been....were it not for massive driver error!'

Really enjoyed this combo, the car was fantastic to drive, so this I thought would put me in good stead for the races as I felt confident with the way the car handled.

Race 1: Suzuka, had a great start and managed to get into 3rd at the first corner, from then on a fantastic race with Paginas and 'The Captain :sly:' ensued. Got myself into the lead on lap 3 (I think) and set about trying to pull a gap. All was going well until I exited the degners, lost the back end and speared into the wall under the bridge. Luckily for Shin (Unluckily for me ) he avoided my accident and took the lead back again. My car didnt register any damage on the screen, but it definitely didn't drive right afterwards, and after repeated spinning out, I pulled into the pits and retired! That being said Suzuka is my 'Bogey' circuit, never do well there and usually crash regularly

Race 2: La Sarthe

Love this track, so knew if I kept my head together for this one I'd hopefully fair better than at Suzuka. Got a good start and kept in with the pack of cars ahead, not really thinking of making any moves until the group had settled a little. Going down the Mulsanne straight, positions were changing several times within the group until the second chicane, where something had obviously happened behind myself and Paginas (leading) as all of a sudden it was just the two of us! A fantastic race followed with plenty of overtaking and great racing, until I the tow down the straight and didn't quite pull out in time before Paginas hit the brakes and I made some modifications to the rear end of his car. I could tell I'd damaged his car as it was twitching and sliding about alot, and my front end wasn't looking to handy either, but we kept going and in the end Pag managed to pull out a nice little lead, despite having a wrecked car, and went on to a well deserved win 👍

Race 3: Monza

Started on pole, and cocked it up immediately by braking to late and straight lining it into the concrete blocks at the chicane...race over....or so I thought.

Front end properly mashed (Yet again), I managed to get going again and after several laps got myself back up with Capt D and Shin who were leading. Cue the next set of brilliantly raced laps, with the three of us constantly trading positions, although I was a little reluctant to get to close as the broken front suspension made the handling a little random at times. The close racing carried on right up until the end, until I had another 'Driver failure' moment, lost concerntration and spun exiting the Lesmo corners. I watched in despair as Shin and Capt D disappeared into the distance, but managed to salvage third place, which after considering how the race started, wasn't a bad result at all 👍

Well done to 'The Captain' for taking the honours this week, and thanks to all the guys who made this week another set of really enjoyable races 👍

Looking forward to the next round :D

won't make the swift races got to work that night. but i will be about fri and sat night so if any one is about give me a shout and i'll come race for a bit.

*sigh*

Not diggin' the car choice this week, again mainly because of the drivetrain. I may make it this time, probably not though. :indiff:

Come on man! Do you want me to change the thread title to 'Talons favourite car club' !? We struggle with full grids as it is. If you honestly dont have anything better to do why not just join in. You might have a bit of fun.

Surely the comfort softs would be the budget option. I think sports hards are fine. It's just that everything softer than that has over the top grip. :)

I just wanted to make the racing as close as possible. Its annoying fighting a front wheel drive car around the track. I made it so you're fighting each other instead of the swift 👍

Well done on the variety of car and track you come up with each week Captain! Each one challenging in their own way. It would be great to have more support and involvement.👍
