Whilst you all know that I agree with your sentiments exactly, heavy damage will remain on. It is a feature of Concours and I dare say one of the contributing factors to the clean and fair racing we get here week in week out.

We are all adults, and we all know the risks of driving at the 'Ring with heavy damage. If you cant drive appropriatly it will be your own downfall.

The text I wrote for OP#2 isnt there for nothing either. 'Participants found to be driving in a too aggressive manner will be warned, and then they will be gone'.

There really is no need to change the way my lobby is set up. You guys just need to adapt to a very difficult and dangerous situation.

👍

Incorrect registration. Please re-read opening posts and re-register accordingly. This is for the benefit of everyone who races here 👍 Thank you.
Uuuuhhmmm.:P

I like the heavy damage setting.👍

I like it, but I dare say there's nothing wrong with the attitudes which are going to cause peoples races to end. Example when you yourself hit the grass Roh in practice and it was my race which ended and disaster who picked up damage to by different reactions to it. It's an unfortunate reality of the 'ring, there's little space or time to avoid people. In the spirit of the event I'd like heavy to stay on also, but in the reality this could be taken as a tester for the Nordschleife or variation of and if alot of people are out of the race through no fault of their own it may have to be on light or not use the circuit at all (car depending).

For me however I won't be there (probably for the best I ended up disliking the combo of car and tyre this week), going away for a few days to stay at an old friends so I'll be back next week. Good luck everyone and I hope you have a good clean Sundays racing 👍.

No doubt everybody has an opinion on the full damage issue, mine is it should stay. The practice showed that Nordschliefe is a very different animal compared to other tracks, and we should all modify our approach to it accordingly. 👍

Dragon, the reason I was at maximum attack in practice is because, well, we were practicing. Exploring the limits on a one lap sprint, and having a good old fashioned mess around as we usually do.

You can bet your bottom dollar I will be no where near as aggressive when the main event is in swing, precisely for the reasons you seem to be oposed to heavy damage. I dont want to hinder anyone else's progress through my own mistakes, so I will adapt my driving style at the ring accordingly.

Anyone who wishes to drive any different will be subjected to the full wrath of the green hell. And depending on circumstance, this series host too ;)

Just wanted to let you guys know tU will be pushed back slightly again tonight. Have been called out on short notice again so there isnt a lot I can do. I would of pushed the whole event back if I had more notice. :ouch: sorry!

Be online for 8 as planned if you want to race. I'll try not to keep you waiting for too long.

the ring is an amazing place both in real life and on gt, practice is the key knowing where you can push and where to take it easy. me and disaster have had many a good battle on the ring. oh and full damage adds to thd danger i say bring on the green hell!

Was just a suggestion, so... remain calm; I prefer heavy damage also; it just better not be the result of a too 'brave' overtake :)

That is exactly why 'we' must be patient when trying to overtake on the Ring; better to wait for a better opportunity to pass, rather than a more risky immediate pass.

I'll be 'tip toeing' around the Ring on Sunday; no more guard rail gus (my goal anyways):)

I have done my 4hour endurance on the nordscheilfe today, certainly have learnt a thing or ten. One thing, if you put two tyres anywhere near the grass, its game over. The track is so narrow, with absolutely no room for error.

I may do the first two and spectate nordscheilfe, as if its reverse grid I will start at the front, and will probably get nudged off! I would much prefer to bring the gtr home safely though. The green hell, is like no other track.

Ref tu, was online until 8.30, not much happened!

Who's racing tonight!?

Had a couple of tough nights the last few days. Just want to relax and have a good ol' practice sesh with me mates. 👍

I'll be on after dinner, between 7 and 8 I'm guessin :)

i'll be there tonight mate, maybe for an hour. got to start getting to bed early for my work 2moro

I am taking the afternoon off so I'll be on; hopefully I'll join you for practice. Closer to 9 pm your time in UK.

I'll definitely be there tonight. I mean it this time.

Heavy damage 👍

Are we qualifying at the 'ring? If so, I take it we 'll only get 1 fast lap? Maybe 2? I haven't practiced yet but I assume the lap times will be 7-8 minutes.

Hey Sparky. Welcome to Concours. Its never too late to join, we have an on going series here where the members come and go depending on how their commitments allow each week.

I will need to race with you before you join a scheduled race meet however. I should be on sometime today. Most likely after the qualifying this afternoon.

As for the car you will need, check the Current Criteria again. Every week we have a different car, and every week I will update that section accordingly 👍

I'll see you on track soon mate. Cheers :)

Track: Nurburgring GP/D [-] Nurburgring GP/F [-] Nurburgring Nordschleife [-]

Car: Nissan GT-R SpecV '09
Tyres: Sport Soft
Aero Parts: Not Allowed
Tuning Parts: Not Allowed
Settings: N/A
Traction Control: Optional
Brake Bias: Optional
ABS: Optional
Pit Stop: Mandatory

So i take it that I will have to use Nissan GT-R SpecV '09 with sport soft tires, no tuning upgrades, and i will be tested on at least one of those tracks. I would like to ask though: is custom suspension, custom transmition, lsd, differential, rigidity improvement allowed? Because i use them a lot. Also may i use the oil change or not?

Rigidity Improvement is not allowed. Custom settings of any kind are not allowed. Oil change, is allowed.

Every week the only things you can count on being available to you is a set of wheels of your choice, new paint if you require, and an oil change.

Any other parts are prohibited, unless.. they are outlined in the Current Criteria 'tuning parts' section.

You'll get used to reading the criteria and understanding the restrictions, but Concours is a place for mostly stock vehicles. It is only now and again that I require you to add additional parts. What you should do each week is buy the car outlined, put a couple of hundred miles on it then give it an oil change. Apart from tyres thats all you're required to do on most occasions.

Hope that helps 👍

Ok, I am glad we cleared that up.

1st race - avoided all incidents, of which there was a few, seems to be getting more often now, but I'm now avoiding them all, which is good. Slowly went up the positions, found myself in 1st, which I though because I avoided the crashes, held on to 2nd, only to find I didn't make my compulsory pit, whoopS! I genuinely thought I got a podium, gutted. Note to self, read race specifics! Apologise to all involved!

2nd race - started last, and avoided all going into and leaving first corner, had a good battle with blacquejack, pitted , somehow gtpjohny appeared and preceded to get all in my way , holding me up, smashing into me, blocking me then smashing full in to me. Cheers.

3rd - race, was still annoyed from the previous race, and binned it on lap 3.

Week pros - the car, absolutely a joy to drive.
Week cons - me not reading and the aforementioned person.

Sorry i left guys, my internet decieded to die on me, cudnt be arsed to restart router for last race, so just watched a film lol.

hope it all went well...

Some good racing last night guys, overall another really enjoyable nights racing 👍

1st race - Had a pretty good start, was around 4th I think going into the first corner, pretty much round it and BOOM, I get poleaxed right in the side, three damaged wheels. Still haven't seen the replay so don't know who it was but that was basically race over, as I needed to pit at the end of the first lap (as did 4-5 other people).....

2nd race - great fun, had some really good battles on this one, was the most enjoyable race of the night for me, a podium was in sight on the last couple of laps, but when overtaking Kamy I managed to get a rear tyre on the grass and that was it, off track and three places down :grumpy:. Just glad I didn't take Kamy out as well to be honest!

3rd race - Managed to keep myself to myself in the first lap, wee overtook me and left me in third, but I kept it consistent throughout the 5 laps and managed to get away without taking any damage at all. I think thanks to other people crashing, and the field being 6 people at the end, I got 2nd place, although 30 seconds behind Douqa.

A great combo, one of my favourite cars and tracks this week. Looking forward to next week!

I participated only in races #1&2 because was late and had a job to be at next morning... So, only about first race. On first lap, Burr was hit by another guy and went on my car which ended to have to pit both of us. Before that though, Wee (being a fast driver generally) driving impatiently embolished (=hit hard) me in a turn which doesn't allow even a thought of passing. I understand the urge to pass a damaged car to catch up with the leaders but this was... Worst of all? Didn't sincerely apologised, but tried to excuse his action by lying. If you ARE sorry, mean it the other time. Don't write it only. My race was over before that hit. It's not about losing something, but the stance wasn't great at all...

Had alot of fun last night as I always love blasting around the green hell!!

Ok, so race 1...reasonably good start off the line, think I picked up a place there. Heading down into the first corner, just about to go into turn 1 on the inside, and using the left hand view to check where everyone else around me was, there was a small bang...followed by a big bang, cue damaged suspension and engine..again! Pitted at the end of lap one along with a few others, and brought the car home in 9th :grumpy:

Race 2...this was much more like it, battling with Douqa through the opening laps was pretty intense, keeping the car right on his chuff. I could tell he was getting a little uncomfortable with this as there were a few minor mistakes, followed by what could have been a rac ending 'off' for him, but unfortunately for me he held it together  Could've made a pass on him while he was having his 'moment', but it would've ended in contact, so I was happy to sit behind until he'd corrected his car. I pitted 2 laps earlier than Douqa, which proved to be my downfall, as when he pitted and exited right in front of me, his fresh tyres had much more grip than mine, which were already starting to fall off, and I watched as he disappeared into the distance. Happy with 2nd though 👍

Race 3...Started 2nd on the green hell, just behind Douqa. Had a fantastic battle with him on the opening lap, this time he made a small error that I could capitalise on, I took the lead, and began trying to eek out a gap. It was all going well until the end of the first lap when I binned it into the barriers and Douqs cruised back past into the lead. I pitted, came back out in 4th, and set about trying to make up some ground. I then crashed again on the second lap in pretty much the same place on lap 2, and had got to thinking by this point my race was probably over

I carried on going with a damaged left front spring, and held onto 3rd for a while, until John closed down on me on the last lap, and pinched my podium position from me...much to his amusement I suspect, haha!

Overall an excellent night as usual, marred by a few collisions in race 1 👍

Roll on next week :D

I just want to address a couple of things this week if I may.

Firstly, GTP_Johny has been banned. He will not be competing in Concours from now on. For ignoring my request to stay out of race 2 for various reasons, for causing accidents by means of aggressive and/or dangerous driving, intentionally slowing and harassing participants who had lapped him previous, for cutting corners and using run off areas repeatedly, GTP_Johny received his second and final warning.

: Race one :

Turn one. Basically a mistake from BRM saw an accident snowball out of a very simple mistake. Taking to the grass to try and avoid other members resulted in BRM becoming a passenger as far as the apex into the first corner. I have raced in close proximity to BRM on a number of occasions, and I am very happy to vouch for his clean and fair racing credentials. He will not receive a warning for the incident. He apologised immediatly, and I am sure you can all appreciate that accidents happen from time to time.

Pit stops. This week Dhandes made the unfortunate mistake of forgetting to pit in race one. He was disqualified from race one but will not receive a warning. As a note to all competitors, pit stops every week at Concours will continue to be mandatory, unless I state otherwise in the Current Criteria section.

General Rules Of Engagement. I also noticed in race one that Paginas and DOUQA were becoming quite heated in the closing phase of the race. If you were to race in a similar manner with a competitor who absolutely disagrees with contact in the races, you would have received warnings. I'm sure either one of you would have been disappointed if you were crashed out of the race last night. I know there were no complaints, and resulting damage was minor, but this kind of driving is not acceptable at Concours. Most of us know each other very well and light contact will happen in the heat of battle. As I have written in the opening posts, 'A little aggressive driving is fine, but clean and fair always comes first!' Just try to be a little less aggressive next time around.

: Race Two :

First of all I just want to apologise to anyone who got caught up with GTP_Johny. I asked him not to race, the ability to kick is not available in private lobbies, there is nothing I could have done. My sincere apologies.

The incident on lap one of race two coming onto the back straight was not Johnys fault however. He put a wheel on the grass by mistake and spun into the turn. Cpt Disaster was very close behind and whist trying to avoid the incident made a spin of his own. I was very close also, I slowed to avoid both cars. Weescotman however was far too aggressive in the face of a crash up ahead. He lunged up the inside of me, giving me damage and preventing me from being able to avoid Cpt Disaster. All 3 cars were damaged heavily. A few laps later and Weescotman made another mistake that very nearly resulted in heavy damage for the two of us once more. And there was also the incident with Rotor. Wee, you have received one warning already from week 8. I will give you the benefit of doubt this time around, but please be more conscientious. I do not want to lose you, but I have a duty to everyone else to weed out disrespectful driving. This week although you got a mention was tollerable, but be aware you are skating on thinner ice than most.

...........

I just want to take this oppertunity to remind you all of the vision I had for Concours. And that is a fun and friendly environment for people to come and race in each week without the need for formalities. I think on the whole we are acheiving what I set out for. We are blessed with a full grid of respectful clean racers, and these racers are also highly skilled and very competetive. It makes for tremendous racing it really does.

The only thing I find disappointing though, is the single bloody mindedness on rare occasions to win. It can, and has, resulted in race ending incidents and general bad feelings among competitors. This is absolutely unreasonable in my opinion.

I enjoy racing with all of you, we are competitive, but most of us know where to draw the line or back off before accidents happen. Incidents are very managable in Concours, because they are very few and far between.

I will say this however. If one day, Concours finds itself in the position where it needs to implement penalty systems, or a more robust warning procedure, I will end this club without hesitation. This isnt a place where you should feel the need to report people after the races. Because incidents just shouldnt be happening!

Yes, we all race to win. But personally, I will forgoe the oppertunity if it means the people I am racing have good clean fun!

I dont want to sound like I'm on a downer. Its just i hate having to write anything of this nature at all in Concours. By now we should all know whats expected and be able to just get on. I hope in the coming weeks we can have some great racing, without the need for 11 paragraphs of ranting from myself! ;)

Have fun out there guys. I will do whatever I can to keep people in line and make sure Concours remains the place you love to be on sundays. Just help me along the way would you 👍 Thank you everyone. Its a pleasure, and I appreciate very much you racing with me :)

Top Gear keep telling me, that if you havent owned an Alfa, you cant be a true petrol head!? Well, I never have, but I refuse to believe it matters. I love my cars, I love to race, and if there is any additional magic to be had then I'm sure we will all feel it this weekend. Lets see if those boys know what they're talking about. Italian car, Italian tracks, low power and front wheel drive.. You will have plenty of time to admire your neighbours car. And plenty of time to assess wether the Alfa brand is so special. Sure they've been in motorsport since 1911, but can they produce a decent race today!? Only one way to find out gentlemen.

Scheduled Event: Sunday 17th 9pm (BST)
Track: Rome [-] Rome / Reverse [-] Autodromo Nazionale Monza No Chicane [-]

Car: Alfa Romeo 147 TI 2.0 TWIN SPARK ‘06
Tyres: Comfort Soft
Aero Parts: Not Allowed
Tuning Parts: Not Allowed

Top stuff captain_roh, looking forward to it already.

How many laps on each are we racing for? The normal 10 on each?

Monza should be good, loads of drafting. Similarly with Rome.

Mandatory pit stop noted.

i'd like to say sorry again for my piss poor driving last night. my head was elsewhere, and in future i'll not be racing unless i'm 100% sure i'll be focused on the track.
