The WRX is grippy but dog slow on the straights. The Lancer is a touch more understeery but has a bit more straight line.
Tried the Beetle and managed to knock 0.032 off my time. So I jumped in the Evo and went 0.3s quicker on my first lap, managed 5 back to back 1:21s, so I'm finding the consistency in the Evo. Still can't get under 1:21.2 though... 👎

Anyone got any good lap times in the Group 3 WRX? I'm gonna jump on my main account later when I finish work (3am) and try to smash out a Renault—beater

I'm only 2 months into GTS but i'm amazed at how you're a DR B on auto not MT.
LOL I managed to get myself over 40K DR (Well over the A barrier) with AT and I use the D-Pad!

The big issue with AT is the downshifts, there are certain corners where you REALLY get burnt because the AT refuses to change down and you cannot rotate the car. Off the top of my head, these are the worst and they SERIOUSLY hurt, can lose a half second on worn tyres.

  • After the stadium section at NGP there's a left then a right, through that right the AT WILL NOT change down and you just cannot rotate.
  • Gardens, the left hander before the 4 brothers
  • Seaside the left before the esses
  • Bathurst forrest's elbow
  • NGP the right hander before the back straight
  • Last turn Interlagos
  • Left hander before Pouhon at Spa

I am one of the casual / amateur racers here and have always used the DS4 and AT, one of my accounts is surprising me by getting a B level in DR!
I got lucky on some races recently, mainly the A races that a lot of players avoided and ran them cleanly too.

You need to be VERY aggressive with these low powered cars. The double right hander, hit the gas BEFORE the kerb on the right for example, she will stick don't worry as there's not a lot of power. The uphill heavy braking area, hit the anchors JUST before the crest, not earlier, swing left HARD, she will follow.

If you're not aggressive you can't turn a time as you lose several tenths in a straight line.

I’ve done a couple races with the Cayman. It’s a sleeper. Beats up the WRX contingent. Just me and one other Cayman in both races.
Turns tighter everywhere. Able to get on the power earlier to negate the WRX AWD advantage. Good under brakes and tyre wear is not a factor. Set my fastest laps during the last three laps, when I gained the lead(Started 12th and 4th). in my second race, the other Cayman had moved up to 5th, from the back of the field.

Try following Cars:

Porsche RSR good speed +Very stable +very High traction. In my oppinion a very good Car to Set top Times easely. I will say he needs a little bit earlyer to Break, but much softer than most other Cars. With less Power on the Break you csn "Jump" into the corners and at the Apex you an most Corners go with 70-100% Throttle.

McLaren F1 GTR, hard to drive, but if you find the Line and Breakpoints he makes lots of Fun there. OK stable+ not so High Traktion but OK. BUT he is amazing fast, you have to go slower into a corner or better say earlyer breaking not much slower, but then the Outside from that Corner is his Land i dont know any other Cars with more Power there.

Ford GT LM very stable also same Speed and acceleration like the F1 GTR and easy to drive into the Corner. But dont try full Throttle at the Apex 😉

RCZ slower than the other Cars but very stable and very high speed at Corners. Very late Breakpoints.

Last but not least the GT by Citroen.

I just make 2 Races with him and set New Personal best Times on Qualifying for me with this car.
He have mich Power, little bit more like the RSR but lower than the MCLaren, i think like the Ford. But he have very High Traction and is very stable. I think he are one of the best cars for me there.

Tbh the mclaren is a bitnsloppy around this track, she needs wide open spaces.
Agree. I did fairly well with the McLaren at Big Willow, where I won or placed most races I was in (when I didn't drive myself off the track). But on tracks with more turns than long straights, even long, curving, "straights", I did horribly with it. Of course, that could just be me since I'm not very good with most cars yet.

Nothing wrong with AT. Most of the higher rated drivers use MT. But it's been shown that some (when they get bored) can achive the same times with AT.

Also sometimes a ride in AT can give you an idea of correct shift points which may be different than what you think are correct in MT.

Generally, it's best to do what comes naturally.
I just ran the AT/MT experiment.

To begin with my time was 1:26 in my trusty Huracan. If a daily race allows my Huracan then the man who can prevent me from using my Huracan has not yet been born because I will use my Huracan despite all wisdom to the contrary and in the face of God.

I changed to a GT Supra Racing Concept '18 and my time immediately came down to 1:23.4, so 3s quicker. I might sell my Huracan.

I then did 5 laps on AT and couldn't get to within 2s of my MT lap. It's how my brain is wired now, I only have a sense of what gear I'm in/ where I need to be through my left thumb on the downshift square button. I just can't feel anything in AT. Would take 2 days of playing for me to unremember MT.

@asifzk ,

Go for AT. If nothing else, you will learn more about the combo. Every so often I switch it on and go faster... learn, switch back, go faster, repeat. Same with TCS. Turn it off set a good time. Turn it on and convince myself I can go just as fast. Then in the race I use what suits me best.

AT vs MT, TCS vs no TCS, Meta vs non-Meta. If you are part of the very top 1% competing against the best then you need to use AT/NoTCS/Meta to gain every possible advantage. The rest of us get a choice.

I think PD does a good job here. With some exceptions MT and noTCS give only slight advantages.

A fun clean race in B/S. DR.B is still the best place for clean races, the more DR.A, the messier it gets.

From the back, 16th to 6th. I had door number 1, didn't make to first but still advanced to DR.A from this race.

So are we getting daily races next week or not? The garbage we've had lately would make removal an improvement IMO, but this will mean I delete GTS and wait 2 or 3 months till we find out if GT7 is worth bothering with.

Yes we are. Just race C to go now. A and B are up.

Not a fan of GR4 but I’ll run some practice at red bull this weeekend. I’ve hit my absolute limit with Sardegna. Can’t better my time. Any car recommendations? Presume it’s medium tyres too?

More Gr3 Sardegna it is then!

With higher powered cars, I normally use A/T too.
I would add to your list most of the turns at Kyoto Yamagiwa, and the turns 3/4/5 section of Big Willow.

Not a good start today, first race, rammed and punted off by the same Brazillian, then swiped off by an American misjudging his corner entry. He gave the position back, but my race was very much done by then.

The easiest way to instantly get 50% cleaner races, separate South American server. Maybe GT7 will have a big enough population to re-instate the SA server again. The experiment was short lived and while driving was cleaner, the skill spread was a lot greater creating more accidents. Not enough people online at the time to supports two servers.

That was before the pandemic boosted sport mode numbers. Before the pandemic sport mode had around 80K players weekly. Covid-19 boosted it to 150K weekly and is currently sitting at around 100K weekly.

Also had a run in with the dirtiest of quick drivers from Spain, that people have been talking about lately. Not proud of it. But saw his shenanigans and intentionally took him out. I only realised when I saw the replay. That I was the reason the other driver crashed. Not doing that again.
Ah, him. I hope you submitted that for IOTW. He's truly an idiot who deserves to be knocked off track since he thinks he's a good driver but he's the definition of what the sportsmanship video tells you not to do in GT Sport. It is a shame that someone else was collateral damage, but he would have pushed that driver off when he got the chance. Also, someone bumped you good in the back to help you catch the dirty driver.

This is where I suggest using brake bias to help offset the lack of rotation. I do it & I use M/T exclusively.

But the better Sardegna. We have done this one before, same tires and all.
McLaren F1 and Corvette grids then
So....Vipers & Mustangs. Got it! 👍 Seriously, I have 2 wins in the Viper going around Sardegna A II, so forward shouldn't be a problem. But, T1L1...:scared:

I guess it's Saturday, 3 races in, all a pile of 💩
I was hoping it would still be do-able in the morning, should have stayed in bed

Oh well get that DR down for Suzuka so I can race there with the B/S crowd. A/S just no.

I haven't driven the Beetle in a while - might be time for a few more laps again. I remember it being insanely quick around Laguna Seca and DTG, perfectly geared for those two short twisty tracks. So it makes sense it would be pretty strong here.

I did think your time looked a bit slower than usual and assumed it was just a quick few Q laps, as you say. No doubt by the end of the weekend you'll be a few tenths ahead of anything I can achieve!
Well I got faster with every car I tried. Laid down a 20.7 in the Lancer. Over to you.

I remember doing a run through the pits at the start, in the Gr.3 Atenza. With the pit for tyres in the middle of the race, I still finished on the podium. Just stay away from trouble and it’ll be smooth sailing.

I switched to bumper view and found it much easier on t1 and t3 to gauge breaking points and hit the apex. Got my time down a tenth to 19.74. Not sure if I’ll go back to roof cam. I was resuming from a session yesterday and it messed up the connection and the time wasn’t saved which was frustrating. But I’ve got some food for thought with the camera. See what it’s like in race.
