@ JP : Do you have all the links to posts with the descriptions of race issues that have the visual aids on the OP, or is that all there is that's already in the OP?
Just wondering if I need to go poking through more pages of this thread.
I thought I happened to see another one not too long ago, that isn't linked from the OP... ?

Sorry Punch, it's Monday and I'm not sure what you're asking...lol.. Re-phrase please:) Or are you referring to the "Classroom Training" links and asking if there's more of them buried in the thread but I haven't linked them to the OP? I thought I did, but it's a recent idea and there may be something way back that I talked about but missed. If you find something let me know, maybe I'll go through it a bit later.

Yeah, but then it wouldn't be the same as what we're doing now - there would be no "parity". The fast drivers would be fast and the slow drivers would be slow.

I am concerned about this, but that's why I mentioned it as a special event, outside of our normal schedule. Even with an extra compound the Yellowbird/BTR is not an easy drive and Cote is right, allowing tuning defeats the purpose. I have one tuned that drives like most good MR's do but it would be way off pace with the rest of the field in the corners so it wouldn't make for good racing. The Cobra would probably fall into that category as well, the Caterham, Tank Car etc.

But again, so long as it's an extra event on the schedule I think that's fair enough. I don't even expect it to be a good race to be honest...lol....I think there will be a lot of spinouts and contact as the cars get sideways a lot if you aren't careful but I still want to get them out on the track and give it a go.

I agree totally with the Extra event, for this concept.
We made a test, Ferrari and I the other day, using the AC 427, and we ran similar car, stock, same PP, SH, I was fairly consistent at 1'32 on ARR, Ferrari was faster, but a little more erratic, we could have done a race and even if Ferrari is naturaly faster than I am, the outcome could have gone either way, I think.
So the point is, it will not need that much tweeking on an, untuned, special car to get an interesting competition among us. We could run one of those after the main feature iff there is enough interest. A stock AC 427 '66 is about 524PP.
Way back we did something similar with NC driving Original Minis, again same car and we had a good time, even if on normal car NC is faster then me.

Ridox2JZGTE/Toyota Celica GT Four Rally Car (ST205) '95/Premium/450PP/Tuned/CS/NO ABS/108mph

High/mid 21s 1st sector, and high/mid 59s last sector for consistent low 1:31s

Sega Rally Yeaaaah !!!! now if only someone will use the Lancia Delta HF Integrale and Lancia Stratos :)

In da lounge for some testing ... done.

Managed to tune Lancia Delta HF Integrale Rally Car '92 and Ford Escort Rally Car '98, both on CS and 445PP.

The Escort is over 100 kg heavier than Integrale, it has a unique handling traits, good turn in and balance, rear is a bit loose on entry and mild understeer on exits, has 50/50 weight distribution, quite forgiving - slides out smoothly without losing too much speed, ample torque, good acceleration, overall a good car for those who love to drift around corners. While the HF Integrale is tight, prefer precision driving, 55/45 weight distribution, less forgiving to mistakes, similar to the Celica GT Four, it bites back hard when mistakes made.

Stratos is MR, so it will get crushed on launch....

I tried Delta HF w/o tuning. Stock, it was too slow on CS and too fast on SH. I suppose some easy tuning will get it to the target, but I didn't like the sound it makes so I bailed on it.

1,2,5 - sure, why not.
3 - Eiger is gravel? I'm out. Gravel/Snow in GT5 mean I have to turn off FFB, and I don't enjoy those at all.
4. Sure, might as well add Evo vs Sti of any generation
6. Sure, say just BTR out of RUFs and might as well add other RR cars.

Forgot about the MR part :), both the Escort and Integrale had power limiter, stock weight, no ballast, fiddle with suspension, aero, LSD and transmission.

Eiger would be the Nordwand all tarmac track, very fun track for racing.

I was hoping someone would be foolish brave enough to try the Stratos...:sly:

I meant the Eiger Nordwand Short Track, the tarmac one. We did a race at the Reverse track back in the Parity League and the starts were chaotic, but pretty good once we sorted out. I'm hoping it'll be a little better starting in a straight line...lol..💡

There were a few of the Standard cars that I wanted to run as well, but I couldn't get them to meet the target on CS tires and still be below the top speed... Kinda disappointing...

I was trying the Peugeot 206 and thought I had gotten the car close to the target but then I realized the speed limit was 111 and I was hitting 115. :dunce:

I'm heading to the lounge to get something qualified. Hopefully adding a bit of downforce and removing a little weight/power will do enough so I can stay with the Pug.
1. FF's only, probably at Laguna as someone has mentioned already.

2. Racecars only along the lines of the Altezza Touring Car, IS200 GT1 Race Car, S2000 LM Racecar, Spoon S2000 Racecar etc...all hovering around the 500PP mark, probably detuned to 475 or so.

3. An all 4wd event, probably at Eiger.

4. Jags vs. Astons, probably somewhere we can stretch our legs like Daytona Road Course or Monza around 450 PP

5. One make races with some of the iconic cars in the game like the Alfa Zagato, 71' Mustang, 69' Camaro etc.

6. A special one make race, perhaps separate from our usual schedule, only for Yellowbirds and/or BTR's?
1. Not a fan of FFs personally, especially on flowing tracks that induce understeer. I would think a point-and-squirt track (like Motegi) might be a better fit for FFs?

2-4. 👍

5. With multiple tire choices, this could now work here. 👍

6. Sounds scary, but I'm willing to give it a try...

Trial Mountain Track Specific Rules
When qualifying keep these two corners in mind. First is the second corner:

tmtrackboundaries2.png
For our purposes, this is a legal corner next week. Two wheels up on the curb and two in the grass. This goes for any track. We expect everyone to make this corner in a legal fashion, missing by a foot or two is a mistake, cutting it to gain an advantage will be punishable by severe flogging or having to drive one of Ferrari's NSX's the following week:nervous::ouch::scared::)

tmtrackboundaries.png
This is the second last corner. Although technically this is not a legal corner under the usual GTP regs, it does happen at this track often enough that we should make special mention of it. This is a blind apex, it's hard to see even when running alone, harder still when running in traffic. It's inevitable that this will happen to some of us during the race. We would still like you to try and make the corner legally of course, but the occasional error in judgement will be overlooked, so long as it isn't repetitive and it doesn't get you substantially under the target time.

Sorry, yes that's what I'm talking about. It's nice to have ready made visual aids. 👍
I'm really terrible at taking descriptive visual aid photomodes. (I only know how to make the cars look pretty. :dopey:)

I'm in the Lounge...I'm in and out of the room so if I don't answer that's why:sly:

Sorry guys, I had unexpected company show up and had to bail. Sorry if my quick exit caused any problems. I'll catch you again later in the week.

Incredibly intense racing tonight, probably the closest ever in DeadNuts or the Parity League. Rally Cars on street tires will definitely go into the vault for another go around:tup:👍

Results will be up tomorrow.:)

Great racing tonight, some of the most intense races I've ever had in this group! 👍

Was good racing for sure. 👍

Ferrari, is it just my replay or were you really locking up almost every corner? Your onboards were really hairy.
As well, I have to apologize to you for blocking/squeezing you in race 3. Completely unintentional, but you lost momentum and was passed by 2 cars on the subsequent straight. Hate when that happens to me, I'm very sorry I did it to you. :yuck:

Looks like a new 500GB HDD didn't make any difference, just got shutdown error at Trial Mountain Reverse when loading it online earlier ... strangely it works offline A spec one make race ... deleted the game data, running 1.0 GT5, works fine, on all tracks :(, consulted on other forums, they said 4.31 OS have cause system instability to my PS3, the only way out is waiting for another update from Sony ...

Some of my disc based games now having the same issues, almost all PSN games installed now having shutdown at the same spot, some at main screen, some when replay, some when playing certain level. Uncharted 1 always shut down when starting a new game ( the moment Drake can be controlled ). Assassin's Creed, Stranglehold, Gundam Target in Sight, are all unaffected

GTA IV only shutdown when Niko Bellic accessing the mobile phone, Dead Space shutdown on certain location only, MGS 4 can be played from start to finish, but after 2.0 trophy update, shutdown at certain location ( repeatable ). Daytona USA, After Burner Climax, Dead Nation, Burnout Paradise Demo works perfectly ... my PS3 is possessed by a demon :ouch:

Running 1.0 GT5 now at Suzuka Rain Arcade race, 16 cars on track at 1080p, works fine for 4 hours non stop, I left it alone ... so no overheating issue, HDD is new, fan blows at low boot up speed, power supply fine ... the funny thing, 1.0 GT5 will shutdown on splash screen when playing at 480p, shutdown at loading any weather track at 720p, but stable at 1080p

Played Fallout 3 GOTY for 6 hours non stop yesterday .. no issues, not even a freeze ... this PS3 ( 1st gen slim 120GB model ) is making me mad ...

Tried to do game install on all my disc based games as suggested by members from other forum, they installed smoothly, quickly, which means my Bluray lens/drive is fine, I watched BR + DVD movies both single/dual layer, smooth play ... no shutdown when watching disc based movie ( BR + DVD ) ever ... did it over 6 hours non stop - Die Hard BR Collection- yay.

Streaming movies from my laptop with PS3 Media Server causes shutdown mostly on HD movies, tried to copy the file to my new HDD, same deal, random shutdown.

Maybe my lagging is caused by the system instability ...I tried to overwrite the OS couple of times - downloaded from PC, installed the update 4.31 from USB stick, same deal ....

Sorry if my rant is too long and off topic ...

Seems really weird that.. I'm no expert at this so I can't help but I hope you find a solution soon and that maybe it even helps your connection instability as well.

Only thing I would have thought would be to reformat the drive and install it all again, but maybe that's what you did when reinstalling.

I tired full format on the old HDD couple of times, the shutdown error got worse since September last year ... the new 500GB was full formatted before I ran full restore ... same deal, shutdown error at the same spot/location/cause. Wasted money for a new HDD :( it could have been spent for Mass Effect Trilogy, but now the PS3 won't do any good anyway ... the only explanation from the experts from Sony forum was a bug or rare case of system instability caused by OS update ( 4.31 )

Sounds really weird, did you try to install earlier OS versions? just to see if it really was 4.31s fault and not the PS3 itself?

^ I don't think I can roll back OS without using jaibreaking method :( I don't want to risk bricking my PS3 if it fails ...

I did some checklist tests suggested by an expert on Sony forum, checking for HDD, BR drive, power supply, clearing CMOS, run fan speed test, all of them leads to conclusion that the PS3 hardware is fine  but it shutdown repeatedly and mostly can be replicated again and again, no matter if the PS3 has just been turned on or have been running for hours ( Uncharted 1 example )

It sound more and more like an issue with you ps3, is there any way for you to use some one else ps3 for a test at your home and verify if the lagging is gone? maybe rent one from a video store.

I'll try to find another PS3, maybe I'll bite the bullet and try to downgrade my OS, but then I won't be able to get online .... another note, it all started when I got corrupted F1 2012 demo download, deleted it then redownload the demo, I also did an update to the OS soon after, the shutdown 1st occurred when F1 2012 demo showing the developer splash screen, then it spread to other games both on HDD and disc.
