Dear Mr. Yamauchi - A question regarding the future of GT Offline.

I'd vote a thousand times on this.
Create a thousand profiles then...kidding!!

I think this question might have a good shot at drawing a response from Mr. Yamauchi as it's close to the heart of the game and hopefully something they are looking at closely for GT7.

That's why I called them, so Modorators can "magically" filter out all those soft questions and let him choose only on the stuff that really matters. I'm sure they have a "move" button and an "hide" button and I'm also sure they know how to use them. ;)
Then you might be interested in THIS.

I didn't know that.

Suddenly, I lost all faith that this is going to work. I'm already listening the giggles.
Don't lose faith buddy. The fact that he's coming to answer questions at all, here, on an internet forum, is a huge, huge step for Kaz and PD. Unprecedented. I don't know what will come of it, but I'll stay positive on this until I know something different. Remember too, this is a big coup for Jordan and GTP as a whole and we should really support that aspect of it for all our sakes. :)

I'm not being negative. Just skeptical.

But I hope that you are right.

A few days ago, I went back to GT2 all the way through to GT4 then touched on GT6. The Offline Career in the previous games was just one word: Fun.

Not to mention the presentation of the Offline career. I remember how GT3 was in my opinion the best in terms of Offline Career. The variety of content and races to participate in and even the atmosphere of it was simply amazing. Maybe it's time to revisit those days.

Johnnypenso, give this man a Bells.

Oh yes and also may I add that maybe the Career mode needs new ideas like everyone said. I thought of some.

  • Some Sprint racing (Course Creator can come in handy here)
  • Duel events (Like against a certain motoring rival depending on the car)
  • Gymkhana (The GT arena can be good here)
  • Speed Challenges (Top speed, and even like the old Like The Wind challenge.)
  • More of a track day setup feel to Career mode (Like how GT5P felt when you were going into a race)
Basically to have some versatility and variety. PD can even do this in the current state.

i get drained and frustrated when I think of the potential for career mode to actually be a career mode instead a bunch of random races.

Start in junior formulas and carts, progress through single seaters or tintops, sponsorship, reputation, rival drivers, a different race weekend at a time, calendar marking progress and upcoming races and so on. Even a career mode based on GT Academy would provide more involvement than what we currently have.

Well I certainly would ask all GTplanet Moderators the opportunity and the sense of this Q&A if it ends up with Kaz answering only about Vision GT Cars and additional colors / helmet / suits. I really don't think that's what Jordan aim for. I think he want Kaz to answer the big stuff but he doesn't want to be pushy. That said if it's still ends up with silly answers to silly questions the forum will probably explode in an epic rage fashion.

I would really hope that questions that usually don't even get mentioned be asked in this setting. Things dealing with Career Mode/Sim/Pro, if some sort of GT Academy format is coming, the community features and online tools for club and League making, Race Mod and Liveries, that Course Maker and an Event Maker, the inclusion as much as possible of racing leagues of all types... things that don't get asked routinely. I'm thinking of something dealing with... sound... :D

A running GTAcademy theme would be a nice addition to the series. Even if the events or results don't count towards GTAcademy I think they could still incorporate a number of events into the game under that umbrella. Stuff like:

1. GTAcademy races in offline career. One of the fantasy series could be based around the GTA cars.

2. GTA Style Time Trials every couple of months in previous GTA cars.

3. Fixed online lobbies featuring GTA cars only (provided for you in stock form of course) that have some type of fixed format but allow participants to vote on tracks (dirt/snow tracks not eligible to be voted on).

4. Special weekends where previous GTA Qualifiers are hosting lobbies online, featuring spec racing, with a predetermined series of races in a championship type format, possibly moderated (referee'd).

I am chock full of ideas!!!

Yeah, that mention was just too general to get the gist of what I meant. I'm definitely thinking of non-real world GTA stuff, though PD could certainly make events that are incorporated with that, like they're doing currently.

It's definitely more aligned with your ideas, though specifically used as the foundation for my GT Pro Mode, which I envision as the microcosm of the entire motorsports world. It's the big vision thing I have to begin you as a guy who just wants a shot at the big leagues, starts small in bush/enthusiast leagues and then do the tier thing, racing through ever larger "seasons" until you get to choose a career in some pro racing league, including fantasy ones like an Asia GT and Formula GT.

And like GT4, I'd love to see all kinds of side racing in special events, even including championships, a lot of stuff like you posted. I really want PD to load up GT7 with cars, tracks, leagues, and events for them.

Are there any plans for GT7 on the PS4 to begin to include more of these real world racing elements and if so can you give us any specifics on plans for the future regarding the offline career mode?

i understand that with or without a full race editor, gt5/6's career mode should have been better.
but i think that, in addition, having the tools to make this our selfs is even better. having a FULL race editor, where all those features and options were available to be used by our selfs, including the option to save as "career mode", would be very importante to me. the only real difference beetween this question and the one about an offline event creator, since both want more and better offline racing options, is who is or would be in charge of the creation tool, users or developer (ideally, both). there are so many "event" possibilities that PD could never provide all in their career mode; even with better racing features on a future gt, there will always be some "event" missing in career mode.

i dont know english enough for that but in my mind, this question and the one about the offline event editor should, somehow, be mixed or one.

I think the Event Creator should be part of the Career Mode to begin with, and you should be able to create your own entire career with the Event Creator. "Create a Career" should be one of the options in the Event Creator, along with "Create a Series" and "Create a Single Race". The technological explosion of the last few years leading to things like 10's of thousands of apps for your phone, has created a real appetite for customizing the user experience. Once we get used to it on other technologies, we want it everywhere, including our gaming experience if possible. Miss out on this and you run the risk of your customers thinking your game hasn't changed in 15 years.

I think this is a wonderful idea. If you created an event , whether a single race or a series of races, would it be only for you, or would we be able to incorporate it into our career? The latter would be GT heaven. Obviously to be incorporated into other players careers the event would need the blessing of PD. A pick and mix career mode, simple yet brilliant. The only downside I can think of is that most of the events would be created by elite drivers for elite drivers.

I think it would be great if you could incorporate races into your career, or indeed, just create an entire career from scratch for yourself. I don't think it would be unreasonable to be able to acquire careers others have set up already either, it's just data after all. We should be able to save the career as a file and then just use the same trading type system we had in GT5. I could create a whole open wheel career, tell everyone about it on GTP, and send it to anyone that wants it, lock, stock and barrel.

One of the events I would like to create would be a raceday at BATHURST ( substitute a track of your choice). To start, a race for Toyota Vitz's, then a Civic race, then a race for classic sports cars, then a touring car race, and to finish a race for supercars. I,m sure the NASCAR enthusiasts would do something similar because they are poorly served in GT6 at the moment.

But Australian V8 Supercars doh....

I have given this idea of an event creator a good deal more thought , this time with my business head on. If we were given this feature , whats in it financially for PD. With 1200 cars and around 50 tracks why would we ever need to buy another copy of GT.

New cars, new real life tracks, online no longer supported, new features...same reasons anyone buys another game.
