It's true - and be honest - we're probably the only two people in the country that have seen a yellow '96-'02 Rover and a G500 convertible. I'll see the Rover again this summer provided it still exists and get a shot - how weird!

Yeah, I'm trying not to keep track, just in case I'm subconsciously selecting the photos ahead of time. ;)

In sales?! The CLK55 is the slowest-selling AMG! How many of these do you see?!

CLK's in general are real big around here. There must be a dozen CLK500's with AMG body kits. The CLK55 is close behind the SL55 and E55 (duh). There were three CLK63's in the first few weeks of availability here, and that kind of thing just never happens in the northeast. The winter calms things down, but I'll try to keep track over the next few weeks.

M5Power
Me - that one's a figment of your imagination.

Oh, I know you said it. It might have been imaginary. I was a bit tired at the time....

M5Power
International CXT - what are the circumstances behind that? Was it privately-owned, or did a company have it? Details dammit!

It's there all the time, privately owned by the shop owner. I guess he didn't want his personal drive to be dwarfed by the tow trucks in his lot.

<another lovely day in Atlanta>

Wow.

There. It deserved to be posted again.

I went to the Scottish Motorsport Show today, and saw these.

<lots of stuff to oogle>

If anyone else needed proof that the US car market is lame, see the above post.

Out and about on my lunch brake earlier I saw a (996) 911 GT3 and a Ferrari 575. Both looked pretty nice, except for the balding over weight drivers.

Too bad I was too slow with my phone's camera.

But if you want to pretend I took a photo of either of those cars. Do a Google image search and find a picture of either of those cars, stand back 10 metres from the monitor, close one eye and squint with the other and that's the sort of awesome image quality my phone is capable.

Crazy - I saw my first CLK63 on Saturday. I do remember you posting one a long time ago, before I even knew for sure they were out, but I didn't think they were so popular. I almost never see CLK55s in Denver, though they're a bit more common in the Mercedes capital of the world, Atlanta. They're my favorite car, so I have reason to keep track!

Incredible. I have yet to see one. Do you know what those things cost?!

A bit of a mixed bag this lot, but I’m sure they will be of interest.

I’ve just got back from a two day business trip to Stuttgart, spending time with DaimlerChrysler, while most of the time was spent working a few interesting moments were captured with my phone.

This is one of three MB ‘stars’ that sit atop buildings in Stuttgart, this one is on top of the old HQ tower (which is right next door to the new HQ).

And sitting in the foyer of the building is this..

image011di6.jpg

…no it’s not the ‘real’ thing (that’s in a museum in Munich), but one of the working replicas built for the centenary.

The DC office I was working in was the Global Training centre which had a few interesting items on display (and a Dodge Caliber)…

image016ww6.jpg

…MB’s first truck, and then this…

image012gj2.jpg

image014zu1.jpg

image015lb2.jpg

…a Sauber Mercedes C291.

Unfortunately working constraints limited a visit to the MB museum to around 15minutes and I only managed to grab a few shots of the first exhibits, mainly a range of concept cars, but I was particularly happy to see the C111 and F400 Carving up close…

…and above those around the room was more interesting stuff..

…and next to the museum is the flagship dealership for MB, of course I focused only on the more interesting stuff, starting with these two…

…and then a look around the most interesting part, the AMG display…

…I also saw and had a good look around a lot more stuff that I simply was not able (due to the location) take any shots of (and I certainly had no intention of loosing my job by trying).

A final piece was this parked outside the hotel for a short while

...and I get into work today to find this in the carpark..

Nice pix Scaff 👍 - such a shame the one person who would really appreciate the last 3 pictures has just left the building :(

Scaff - great shots - how many CLK DTM convertibles are there?! Five?! One?! Thank you so much for sharing those!!

Thanks

On the CLK DTM Cabriolet, according to Wiki 80 of them were made...

In addition to hard top CLK DTM AMG, 80 convertible versions of CLK DTM were made for 2006 model year, titled Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet. Compared to the coupé version, a speed limiter further reduces its top speed to 300 km/h (likely due to the top not able to withstand higher wind forces safely).

Owners of the CLK DTM Cabriolet includes former McLaren Mercedes Formula One drivers Juan Pablo Montoya and Mika Häkkinen. Häkkinen is currently racing for Mercedes in the DTM championship. Former McLaren Mercedes Formula One driver Kimi Räikkönen owns the hard top version of the CLK DTM.

Which certainly puts in in the rare category, I have to say it did look quite stunning in the metal and was one of the nicest things I saw on the trip (but not the most interesting - that was a look at the new Smart ForTwo - the one the US is getting).

Well today I saw three nice cars in black. First off, I saw a Jeep Cherokee SRT-8. Next, I saw the same black STS-V I saw about a week ago. Had I only showed up a little earlier, I would have been able to get some pictures of it with my phone, instead I had to go to class. :banghead: And finally, a black Corvette ZR-1. I think that is probably only the second ZR-1 I have seen in my life. Very cool stuff and I had only barely managed to see the ZR-1 emblem on the back of the car.

Very nice - I still have yet to knowingly see a ZR-1. That's a great spot.

I would have loved to take a picture of the ZR-1 too. But there was just no chance of it, unless I just sat in the middle of the road in my car and held up traffic. I do not think those behind me would have been very pleased.

I know I have seen at least one other ZR-1 because I remember seeing a white one. I hope to see the black one again and have a picture opportunity.

I have seen two ZR-1's, first one I saw was way back in the early 90's when I was in Canada at auto wreaking yard (my father imported cars and parts) and a completely totaled ZR-1 was bought at auction....... for the engine (which turned out damaged anyway). Apparently a young Indian/Native American (or whatever is correct for me to say) who came across money bought it and killed himself in it shortly after.

Second one was at a American car show (In Australia).

The Mercedes-Benz museum...nice. Love the DTM, the Sauber, SLR, G-Class and that awesome S3. It looked aggressive as hello from the front.

After 5 minutes of extra driving on a return trip:

CLK320 Coupe ~2003
CLK320 Cabriolet ~2003
CLK350 Coupe ~2005
CLK350 Cabriolet ~2006
CLK500 Cabriolet ~2004 (one of many '500s with AMG gear)

It's still too February out, so just about all the AMG's are stored away. There's a ~2003 CLK55 Cabriolet that's debadged, then re-badged but painted in purple. I'm 99% sure it really is a '55; I'll get a photo of that as soon as I see it.

Incredible. I have yet to see one. Do you know what those things cost?!

International's web site says "Starting at $120,000". So no, not really. That's kind of ridiculous for a glorified pick-up, but I guess it does weigh over 25,000 lbs.

I’ve just got back from a two day business trip to Stuttgart, spending time with DaimlerChrysler, while most of the time was spent working a few interesting moments were captured with my phone.

Uh, Stuttgart you say.... <adds to tour list just below Modena>

Do they have actual tours (doesn't Lamborghini have them?) or just a museum/showroom/showcase?

Lots of stuff, unusual for February.

BMW M6 - probably doesn't count, since it's at a BMW service center, but it was mint, and it was an M6. Still haven't seen a single one on the road.

BMW Z4 M Roadster - seen this around a few times going opposite me, and I think this is the first time he's actually parked in town.

Cadillac Escalade A, Cadillac Escalade B- not a new one, but two new ones, right by each other in the parking lot.

Cadillac XLR - still beautiful, even if it's not a -V. Probably one of the best-looking American cars made in 30 years.

GMC Yukon Denali - brand new Denali. Not incredibly special, but I didn't think they were out yet, and I thought the SUV-heavy northeast would have had them months ago.

Land Rover Range Sport Supercharged - cery chic, very expensive, and always driven very conservatively. The color is cool, though. Not as cool as orange....

Lincoln Mark LT - yes, somewhere in the fuzzy mess of pixels is a white Mark LT. Not as rare as it's predecessor, the Blackwood, nor does it have as cool a name.

Saturn Vue - just here for the license plate. But does it mean that he should fish less often, or that he's without fish?

Queens of the week:

Aston Martin Lagonda - same as the last time we drove to New York City: I was dozing, woke up for no apparent reason, and there it was. Never seen one before, and I could probably go the rest of my life not seeing it again. It's not especially pretty.

Audi S6 Avant 1995 - the owner had that dog on her lap as she pulled in to park. For a second, I thought it was the dog that had eccentric taste in cars. A pre-2.7T S4 is all I need for the trifecta.

After 5 minutes of extra driving on a return trip:

Indeed, regular ones are common, but I thought we were discussing AMGs - the CLK55 and now the CLK63 are in my view notably rarer than regular CLKs, even relative to other AMG models.

Cadillac Escalade B

Now the really cool car in this shot is that Subaru next to it. ;)

International's web site says "Starting at $120,000". So no, not really. That's kind of ridiculous for a glorified pick-up, but I guess it does weigh over 25,000 lbs.

It's completely ridiculous - and as you're well aware they're absolutely gigantic. So it's a ridiculous price for a ridiculous vehicle.

Wow!! I've still never seen one, but I really hope to. What did you think of it? Was it super long? It looks like it's a behemoth. Once again your sightings surprise the hell out of me - I can't believe you saw this car! Very very nice and as always, thanks for sharing. 👍

I get to go to a car show tomorrow, hopefully there will be some nice cars there. I'll post pictures of what I saw when I get back.

If its ok.......seeing as what happened the last time I posted pictures in here.

New wallpaper, thanks much! Excellent shot!

I've never even heard of that, let alone see a picture of it. Great find, looks like a boat.

My parents own one^

Oh yeah, nice day out today, but only got one picture:

A8.jpg

One of a 5 A8's that ive seen in my town

3 vettes, all '06 or higher
An M6 in tan-ish white
CLK-55 AMG

And something weird, an "L6" BMW. Is it real? or some crazy re-badge?

according to wikipedia:

"The 635CSi could reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.4 seconds. A luxury version, known as the L6 arrived in 1987 with leather headliner and trim and other accoutrements."

with a little off-wiki searching:

"Introduced only in the USA for 1987 only, the 635 CSi L6 was a luxury version with an automatic transmission. The L6 had an impressive 182 bhp engine and as a result of all the luxurious extras, was 450 kg heavier. The 635CSi Highline was the dubbed name in the UK and several manual transmissions vehicles were made. The L6 featured luxury features all leather details, including head lining, seat backs, doors skins and dashboard and rear A/C with a cooler cabinet."

An example of a ''High-Line'' 635Csi

ive yet to find any specific numbers on how many were produced but its for 1987 only so it cant be too many.

No - very real!!! Incredible spot - the number made was in the hundreds and this was twenty years ago. I've seen exactly two in the last two years of spotting:

adw-l6.jpg

"L" was supposed to mean "luxury" just as "M" was motorsport. The difference was that only one (M) was profitable - L never sold well, and was cancelled. There was also an E23 L7, but I've never seen one of those and really am not planning to. Those were the only L models. I wish you had a photo - there really are not too many of these left.

OK I went the the Import Motion car show today and here ate the pictures of what I saw/actually took a picture of. I wish that I would have taken more pictures but my camera was acting up.

Nice spotting, even though it's from a car show they're still good pics and deserve to be in here I reckon.

AE86 + RB20 though, yuck. Talk about your lead tipped freakin' arrows. Put in a CA18DET instead, much better weight distribution than a iron blocked 6.

Even though I can't see what lurks within the engine bay, that blue R32 is iwithout a doubt one of THE most gorgeous cars I have ever seen! And that Cobra? Mmmmmmm... yes please!
