If you see it, shoot it - those are the rarest, and someone ought to get a photo of one before they're gone for good.

The owner has that, an XJS V12, and another oddball 80's car that escapes me at the moment. Must have done well 20 years ago. ;)

He was driving like a crazy person too - but wouldn't you, if you had a Ford GT?

Perhaps, but not within such a crowded city.

I saw two CLK55s this weekend, one convertible and one coupe, both W209 models. They're not too common - dwarfed in Atlanta by the E AMG, the SL AMG, and the CLS AMG, but I guess they're more common than I give them credit for - in Denver they're literally nowhere.

There's something about having a mid-range Mercedes convertible that seems to be contagious near where I live. You'd think the 3-Series convertible would be just as popular (or the Audi A4 Cabriolet), but Mercedes has a 2-1 lead over both of them.

These actually came out for the 2004 model year. They sucked - a minor bodykit, nicer wheels, and a four figure pricetag with no engine modifications. I saw one Saturday and laughed. They're rare, and for a reason.

I thought there were some suspension modifications, but that seemed to be contained the unsprung elements only (i.e., the wheels & brake pads). Either way, not worth the $5,200...plus $500 installation!

All CL55s are supercharged - it runs the 460hp 5.4-liter supercharged V8. Did it not have V8 Kompressor badges on the side? If not it could be a re-badged CL500. I didn't think people really were that shallow, but one of my best friends works at a BMW dealership and told me a guy comes in with the current 745i that he re-badged to be a 760i.

It could have been rebadged (I've been suckered before), but I couldn't see the side panels at the time. Also, early CL55's didn't have the "V8 supercharged" badge on the side (which coincided with the dual/single exhaust, as opposed to the dual/twin), because they weren't supercharged. Never underestimate what old junk MBUSA will hold on to. ;)

They're rare - for the record, I post photos of every convertible 300ZX I see, and I don't think I've posted a shot since August. There are a few I know about in Denver, but I've yet to see one here in Atlanta. They were rare for a reason too - you think the 300ZX was heavy, just imagine a convertible - and it wasn't available with the Turbo. Still a cool car.

Base '96 300ZX: 3,287 lbs.
Convertible '96: 3,401 lbs.
Turbo '96: 3,502 lbs.

Not too heavy by today's standards (2007 350Z Convertible is 3,580 lbs.), but I'm sure it's as floppy as a TR6, making the ragtop quite pointless.

M5Power
Can't believe you already saw one!

It was so matter-of-fact, too. "Oh, there it is, behind twelve other generic sedans." *whirr*point*click* Next time I see one, I'm going to give it a real look-see. Volvo's design is moving in...interesting directions.

M5Power
Yeah I'm skipping the Noble. That one'd be too easy. :D

:D

Wow. Silverton's nice.

Are you sure it was a GT-R and not just a well-done body kit? Not doubting you or anything, but it's obviously had some work done to it. Looks cool, regardless, and I don't know how much longer it will be before I see a GT-R anywhere.

I can't guarantee that it is a GT-R, as it doesn't have a badge, but it does have the front and rear fenders of the GT-R as well as the front and rear bumpers, which would be an awful lot of work to do to a GT-T.

The GT-R R32, 33 and 34 aren't uncommon at all here in HK so I think it's fair to say it's a real one. Also, the sound was very loud even through my 'soundproofed' office windows!

One other thing. It's very rare that people in HK try to make a car look like something it isn't. It would be quite frowned upon to make a GT-R lookalike.

Hope you see your first soon! =)

Perhaps, but not within such a crowded city.

Indeed, the GT's driver had to jam the brakes to stop at a light that had been red for about a minute and already had several cars at it. Driving like that he's fixing to hit a pregnant woman in a Vauxhall Astra van.

What a waste of cash. I remember when it just came out I was thinking 'good, a replacement for the Type-S.' Er, not quite. That was the regular TL!

Incredible - I have no sources that state this. I had no idea!

Who knew the 350Z convertible was so heavy?

All of those weights are absurd for a sports car - my Volvo never topped 3,600 pounds (I think it was 3,530) and that was a four-door sedan aimed at the family buyer and filled with premium features. Way to show up, Nissan.

2007/08 BMW M3 CONVERTIBLE

removed as it messes up the forum formatting.
( The file size is only 291 kb , that's why I thought : post it full size ;) ...
if a mod has another opinion, feel free to delete it...)

And (again) a

Audi R8

If that's an M3 convertible, my car can operate underwater.

Unless it's a hardtop convertible, in which case I'd better go buy some SCUBA tanks.

Of course it has a hardtop, it is winter and, of course, that is a test car.
As you can imagine it is not that easy to take a picture with your cell phone while driving about 100 mph on the Autobahn while still accelelerating, I wish I could provide a closer view.
But the BMW overtook me and it was a convertible with hard top and it was a new M3, not the first one I see. Remember, I live not even 40 miles away from Munich and I see BMW test cars at least once a week on that praticular part of the Autobahn because it connects Munich and another BMW factory...

*GASP* someone quick call the German police and tell them to give him a ticket!

;)

Sweet pictures though 👍

Its no 3000GT, though.
Imagine how many moons of Jupiter the Spyder must have been equivalent to.

Being that I am an owner of a 3000GT, I have to go ahead and say that the 3000GT was not really made to be an all out sports car. It was made more to be a GT car, so that accounts for why they are so heavy.

Actually I think it's a bit of both - it was intended as a GT car so engineers made that but then they decided it should be a sports car so they made that too. Then they just threw everything into one huge, fat car.

By the way, the 3000GT VR-4 Spyder weighs more than a Highlander.

Hah! Finally!
I've seen this around a couple times, but I had the fortune of seeing it while in possesion of a camera. Granted, a cameraphone, but a camera nonetheless.
Just got the cameraphone on Sunday, so expect some more action from now on!

That's right. A Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder.

That's good to know. At least some people have taste.

So do I, but given where I live, it probably won't be until the "R35" comes out. Which is cool anyway. :sly:

MBUSA seems to keep stats & media going back quite a ways. I haven't looked, but I wonder if they have literature going back to the 300SL....

Nice Gallardo spider sighting there! I saw one last Saturday, an orange one... the cabin is so far up! Is nuts.... right behind it was a 70 Chevelle SS, it was some Olive drab color though...

Not bad, but I've got you beat. There was a C2 Corvette, probably a 1966 or 67 that made a turn in the opposite direction seconds after I snapped the second picture... Tunnel vision prevented me from even seeing it until it passed me.

That's right. A Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder.

Vehicle's been out well over a year, as it debuted in January of 2006. I've seen four Murcielago Roadsters and twenty unique Gallardos since debut. Yet I have yet to see a Gallardo Spyder. Good spot; thanks for the pics too. 👍

Not particularly good. But very rare here. There are probably as many Lancia Beta's in Australia as any Ferrari or Lambo. It was in fantastic condition too. Although I do have to question why anyone in Australia would actually buy one.

EDIT: About 12 Lancia's are for sale the country Australia. Compared to 60 Ferrari's!

I cant, you have to trust me;) Theres a Ferrari garage opposite my road. They repair ferrari's mostly but sometimes I see Lamborghini's and a few Maseratis. Today I saw that Bugatti EB110. It was coming down the main road, it wasnt parked so I didnt get a chance to take a pic. Do you want to see a map of the area?

Ill show you anyway lol
Red dot is me when I saw the car
Green route is the Bugatti EB110 going to the Ferrari garage
Blue arrow is my road

EB110S. Right here in Atlanta. Those are special Georgia plates.

Told.

Did you take that yourself? It definately looks better in that black. The one I saw was some flat silver colour, not very nice. At first I thought it was a ricer car with the huge spoiler and the weird rear lights.

Nice, thanks for that! Im going to call for job vacancies now

No, I was just being sarcastic - since he claimed an EB110 and told me to beat it I figured I might as well post a shot of an EB110S.
