Your not-so-average Tuesday afternoon in Denver:

Other pictures of the Carrera GT, whose license plate read "UBERKAR":

And this is a Tuesday afternoon!!

EDIT: The Rabbit is indeed called Rabbit. I was skeptical until today, but the rear of the car had the image of the Rabbit used on GTIs as well as a 2.5 badge. So I'm now certain the "Golf" moniker is gone.

The Carrera GT was spotted on Denver's top street-racing street (on which I hold the record for fastest speed measured), Speer Boulevard. This is the third Carrera GT I've seen, and my fourth sighting (I saw once twice). What always amazes me about the C-GT is that no-one seems to catch on to what they're in the presence of. We drove four or so miles down Speer, with just two people realizing they were in the next to an incredibly expensive ultracar - one in a new 4Runner, and the other on a motorcycle. Everyone else just kept going, completely oblivious.

Torrential rain limited my Independence Day evening sightings, however I did manage a rare 40th Anniversary Porsche 911, and a Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6, the rarest of the SRT cars (aside, probably, the Viper):

Bright red Porsche Cayman S.

I tried to turn and go back after it, but unfortunately I was in a Saturn Sedan, and it was well...gone.

What Merc is that?!

- don't tell me, it's another MB 'niche' vehicle - a car that people know that they need yet

That Merc would be the new GL-Class.

I think it's suppose to be more "rugged" than the ML class, though I don't know how capable it actually is.

It's going to need to be mighty rugged to cope with all those expensive-shop lined boulevards etc etc ......but thats a different thread :sly:

The GL450 - Merc's new seven-seat SUV which replaces the G-class and intends to compete with the Range Rover and Cadillac Escalade. I saw my first one about three weeks ago in Aspen - since then, I've been seeing them practically non-stop. It's weird though because also in Aspen three weeks ago I saw two Audi Q7s. Since then? None.

Why is this impossible Is this car so rare in Denver?

No cars are rare in Denver (relative to the rest of the county). However, the X-Type wagon is the rarest North American Jaguar - and that includes the XKR, which is limited production. They just don't exist here. It's the third one I've seen.

Someone in my neighborhood bought this a few weeks ago and several of my friends reported seeing it, so it was only a matter of time before I saw it too. Absolutely gorgeous car. I've now seen them in three colors - yellow, this red, and a darker red on the Roadster.

no its not....

It essentially is. Demand outstrips supply. Of course, by that definition, the Prius is limited-production... the POINT is, the X-Type wagon is seriously rare.

Sexual content isn't allowed on GTP. You should know that.

It's a gorgeous car, isn't it? I personally like the red - I think it bests my yellow sighting from August of 2005.

i was talking about the xkr and even if demand outstrips supply doesnt mean its limited production ;) :)

A yello 355 convert.
That's actually a 348, which was the predecessor to the 355. They're not worth as much, but no worries - they're quite a bit rarer (the Spider is, anyway). In fact, the 348 Spider you have pictured is the rarest vehicle in the 348/355 group. Good sighting!

You can see some of the differences between a 355 and a 348 in my own pictures of the vehicles. Unfortunately, I've never seen a 348 Spider - you'll have to settle for the 348ts instead. :)

I've never seen that Lambo in red color. It's beautiful!

I agree - it's really quite attractive. Given its proximity to me and the fact that it's been seen several times already, I really hope to get a few looks at it. After I got the pictures I drove by again just to gawk.

Strangely, I somehow saw 2 Ford F150s today. I'm not quite sure how that happened as there were in two completely different places while I was travelling on the same bus.

All I can say is... Bloody Massive!

Yes, yes it is. I always thought the Gallardo looked better, but that red is just sexy.

Excruciatingly mediocre day today. I think you know you're living the life when you can see thirteen Porsche 911s representing every single generation, two BMW 840Cis, and a Passat W8 and still consider the day "excruciatingly mediocre."

afp-77.jpg

Do note that the Passat is the even rarer (if that's possible) wagon version. Also note that one of the 840Cis was running Alaska plates, with a "Beverly Hills BMW" frame. And it was seen in Colorado. Quite the traveller!

Toyota Supra RZ parked in my Wendy's parking lot.

BTW that wendy's is next to Hooters, so I get to see some boobies when I take my break :D

Ciao!

Funny how different vehicles are rare in different countries. I swear I see a bajillion F-150s a day, but I have never seen a ferarri, only one lambo and it was was ricerized, and two espirits of which one was ricerized too.
