DLC in GT5???

And how do you pay dlc? Because I've never downloaded any new feature for any game yet.

I mostly familiar with the way that Sony does it. But, depending on the service, usually you would use a credit card, or debit card, for which you give the relevant information to Sony/Microsoft, from which you can add money to your account (MS has a points system; you purchase so many points for so many dollars; Sony's online wallet lists your balance in actual dollars, or whatever your currency happens to be). After you add money to your account, you can add stuff to your cart and so on... In addition, you can charge your credit/debit card at the time that you make a purchase if you don't have the necessary funds in your online wallet.

Alternately, if you do not have a credit or debit card, or would rather not do that type of online transaction, some countries have PS Network funds for sale in the form of a gift card, though I'm not sure what exactly they are called off the top of my head as I usually just us my debit card. Once you purchase one of these cards, you can redeem them using the code on the card on your account management screen using the PS Network, and it will add the corresponding funds to your wallet. I know that these cards may be purchased in the US, but I'm pretty sure they aren't available in Europe, if I recall correctly. For other places, I don't have a clue.

lets see if the forza fanboys still bash GT5 if PD releases a livery editor, track editor, video maker and a lot of other things that we can't even imagine right now as DLC. heck!, i'd pay for everything.

Wasn't all of that shown in the GTHD list at E3 a couple of years ago ;)

if GT5 does not have visual customization in the inital game, it would be cool if they sold parts or whole bodykits as dlc for your car..... but i guess if they charged anything more than .99 cents for a full boykit for a car, it could get a little expensive....

One question:

When I enter PSN Store it says that: "The PlayStationStore is not available in the selected country or region."

Does that mean, that I am not capable to download extra content like cars etc.???

Without using clever networking trickery such as proxies, you would be correct.

Yes, I have UK one, where is all ok. I'll just copy the savegame from original to UK and then download extra content and then copy it back to the original username.

Yes. But i hope having DLC won't mean " we have only 300 cars at the beginning and than we upgrade the game". I want at least 800 cars and then 1000 with DLC. For free.

Well if it's for free it could be like spec II and so on (automatic update).

But yeah, actually I really want to see all cars at the begging without DLC later.

I want downloadable cars, tracks, videos. I want to fill up my little 60GB hard drive and have to buy a 1TB hard drive to hold all the GT5 goodness. I might go in debt when this game is released LOL

Hard to tell, they could have gotten a sneak preview months ago to scan it for the game. It wouldn't be the first time.

In my strong opinion they will have downloaded content. I would highly doubt that they would wait 4 or more years to realease any new content. New cars will be built in the real world and some of those manufactures would love to seem them in the game for advertising etc.. However I would expect that it would be almost a year after GT5 has been released to every parts of the world before we would start to see additional content. I also will expect a few special online race events every year etc.

I vote yes for DLC

I would like to have a major DLC every year with cars released that year, a track or two and some more customising parts all this for about £10 would be brilliant. But I don't want single car DLC's, singles track DLC's wouldn't be bad at all.

No, DLC is one of the biggest rip-offs possible(Bar the free stuff:D) you end up paying for the game again to add 10% of the content to it(100%-110%).

I think you will like the idea of a full purchase initially of GT5 with all future downloads being free. I am certainly hoping that is what Amar meant. 👍

Free DLC?, paid DLC? 🤬 !

For free DLC would be great, but charging for it just doesn't seem fair as not all players would be able to buy it and we would have different "versions" of the game worldwide.

Slightly off topic and apologies if this has been discussed before but, does anyone know if the full game itself will be download-able from the store? My 60gb has stopped reading disc's lately and I had to go and download prologue from the store. My guess is no due to the sheer size of the finished game but perhaps someone will know for sure. Otherwise its ps3 replacement time

Think it might be replacement time!

It's not known if there will be downloadable version of the full game yet. It is possible even with the enormous file size and would be great to have it as a permanent fixture on the XMB but it may not work without an internet connection as is the case with other games. Not great if your internet goes down!

yep it's looking that way :nervous:
might chance replacing the BL module as i don't fancy handing over all that cash for a new one.
👍

Downloadable content is the norm now though, so a constant flow of new content would be more than welcome as well.

Trust me, when it finally comes out, GT5 will be milked more than that little sack boy thing that incessantly populates the PS Store. I'm begininning to think that GT5 might actually be a 'platform' as well as a game.

I seriously doubt that PD will make another GT for the PS3, so what we get now will have to last until the PS4 arrives. That is not a bad thing though, all this waiting must be for something special. In the past, Sony have said previously that they favour a micro-transaction model, GT5 will be the game that demostrates that! 👍

The only question you really have to ask yourself is... Will my DLC work with GT6. :nervous:

i'm personally not sure and i think polyphony may be the same. We, the fans have waited a frankly preposterous amount of time for this game and so we deserve loads of content.

However as always money is a huge issue and DLC is used to extract extra cash from gamers from the same development cycle. However seeing as GT5P has already made enough money to cover the entire development budget for GT5 then this is less of an issue. Also KY said GT6 will run on the same engine as GT5 so they will make a huge profit on this development cycle.

I think that PD will have to weigh up if they want more money from a game that has already made a considerable profit or if they want to put the fans first and either put all the content into the game (which i think they will) or release free DLC later (not sure if it'll happen but it may).

GT6 will practically be an updated version of the game, like GT2 was to GT1, and how GT4 was to GT3. It won't have many big graphical changes, GT5 is a platform for GT6.

They could just progressively release updates as DLC, but I rather think they would use DLC predominantly for minor updates such as bug fixes, and maybe a handful of cars and tracks.

But I feel they should hold back a lot of the stuff they develop for GT6. I don't like the way games are progressively improving over DLC. It not only cuts into development time for the next game in the series, it also undermines the impact the next game will have because it will bring less new things.

This.

How many cars and tracks we will get in GT6? I was just wondering that.

I am sure GT5 will be a full game on release. What I expect to come as DLC are new cars they may not have been available to PD as well as other tracks and new competitions. If we have full customisation of cars in the full title then I would expect new items to be added as well.

Hmmm... I dunno yunno... GT2 was vastly different to GT1, as was GT4 compared to GT3. You could even argue that GT1 and GT3 shared more in common, as do GT2 and GT4, if... you compare them on scope.

So, if you saying that GT5 is a platform for GT6, then we are basically stuck wit the same graphics/physics for the next 10 to 12 years!? I honestly hope though, that GT6 will be something else, something completely different to GT5.

I dissagree with your timeline there magburner. If GT6 is an updated GT5, which it probably will be especially since Kaz said as much last year, then we will not be waiting all that long between GT5 and GT6. I'd hazzard a guess and say around 2 years maybe just over. GT7 should it release on PS4 would probably be a game where we'd be looking at a longer wait but certainly not 7-8 years. I'd guess that PD have developed a physics engine in GT5 that is future proof for a short while and may possibly survive the transition from this generation to the next generation of consoles. That would save a hell of a lot of work while not compromising the levels that the next game would be aiming for.
