The Rock vs. Reigns is finally happening!!!
This could deflate the fans.

Cody was super hot last year and should have won then. He’s the most over guy in the business and won the back to back royal rumbles just to give the WM match to the Rock for some reason.

Unfortunately I see it being split (for the time being) as people demanded this "dream match" that was set up since the start of this storyline (not in the storyline itself but just backstage gossip) just something more interesting to the mere fans came along that showed maybe something is better which is lead to the split (though if you ask me, anything couldve been better than 4 years of time wasting for a random dream match were just going to bin once Rock jobs, or complain about in the massively rare chance Rock wins)

If only. Priest might come across as the biggest heel but to me he'll be a hero worth dedicating a holiday for but unfortunately he doesnt look to be the Plan B for CM Punks injury that we thought and I can see him actually losing the cash in now

I'd probably be more bothered by it if I followed wrestling for more than just the Rumble -> Mania period.

I feel this wouldnt change much when Codys story with Roman was last years Rumber > Mania period and went to a complete stop afterwards with no proper conclusion

That's probably the best way to be following it, honestly.

Cody beats Seth. Priest immediately cashes in and we get a sad Cody two years in a row at 'Mania. Calling it now.

So I haven't watched WWE in...who knows how long but I "keep up" (through no real effort of my own) and this thing with Cody is just....LMAO.

There's no way to be even remotely mature about it. It's the dumbest goddamn thing.

And the seemingly last minute retcon that taking everything from Roman...doesn't involve him actually taking the things from Roman is just...LMAO, again.

Also I thought finishing the story last year was all about winning the title his father never could? Now its switched specifically about Roman and not needing to do it now.

Who let Seth Rollins roll a natural 20 on his Persuasion check ?

Its was meant to be Reigns v Rhodes and Rollins v Punk but Punk's injury changed things and the Rock really pushed for it apparently.

I have only just seen the show so I have mixed feelings about it, but seeing Cody leave the ring like that was pretty horrible to watch and they have done him dirty, he didn't actually pick his opponent though.

I think this was all Rock playing Hogan. Punk injury shouldnt throw a wrench in Smackdowns main event especially when Raw was stacked with potential Rollins opponents as they kept teasing guys like Gunther and Drew McIntyre in the build up. In fact since Gunther lost Lesnar as an opponent he couldve been a replacement to face Rollins...

Started watching pretty regularly again around 18 months again. **** like this reminds me why I stopped watching before.

100%. The fact that he felt like needed to "save Wrestlemania", after Punk's injury. As of Cody/Roman II wasn't going to pull huge numbers anyway. Classic narcissistic Hogan behavior.

Love this Youtube comment . Seth Rollins doesn't even need to respond on Roman Reigns rebuttle, everything that happened on Smackdown just proved him right.

#WeWantCody

That has been the number one trend in the the US and UK for the last few hours.

I think that they have panicked after CM Punk's injury and the Lesnar situation and thought that Mania 'needed saving', this has backfired horribly already because of the reaction and backlash, I'm starting to think that they might change their mind.

Roman v The Rock doesn't just affect the main event of Mania but it affects everyone who will be on the show, I thought that Bayley v IYO would main event the first night but I don't think so anymore.

Why cant they just have Roman v Rock at Summerslam?!

Feels like an unnecessary panic as I said before you could easily just move Lesnars opponent, Gunther up to facing Seth Rollins and its an easy hot fix. Rock definitely had more of a push to this, also helped with another incentive is to drown out the Vince McMahon controversy.

I just want to Bloodline storyline to be over (its gone on 3 years too long) and it just won't end, makes Dragon Ball Z look rushed.

I haven't been into the Fed for like I don't know since AJ Styles' first WWE title reign? Either way I just want to say ever since Cody's return two years ago, he somehow managed to get me back into the Fed due to things he has done before and during his return plus his matches with Seth including the Hell in the Cell match.

At first last year through enough convincing, I was alright I'm willing to wait for another year before Cody can finish his story as he does need to face more adversity and to me those matches with Lesnar was enough adversity and his win at Summerslam was enough.

Then came Royal Rumble and he won it for the second time and there I thought they're going to finish the story now and get the WWE title out of hostage from Roman as the Bloodline story has run its course but nope then came Rock using his newly found powers as TKO Board of Directors (it's not yet confirmed though I'm seeing PWInsider's report about it) to screw this story up.

Honestly if this Rocky's way of trying to save his image after the Black Adam flop, the fiasco with Oprah, and others then it's going to tarnish his image even more. Oh and there's also them probably pushing that to happen in order to create a smokescreen from the Vinnie Mac reports which again it only made peeps remember more about Vince now because this type of booking I'm seeing reminds me of Vince.

That's just my cents on this situation right now but I really hope just hope they pivot on this match even after it assassinated Cody's character, the Royal Rumble, and the WHC in just one Smackdown episode.

I want to leave the dumpster fire of the last 24 hours and talk about NXT for a bit.

Its Vengeance Day tonight so here is the card.

No Disqualification Match.
Joe Gacy v Dijak

Tony D'Angelo, Channing 'Stacks' Lorenzo & Adrianna Rizzo v Bronco Nima, Lucien Price & Jaida Parker.

Dusty Cup Tag Team Classic Final.
Baron Corbin & Bronn Breakker v Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams

NXT North American Championship.
Oba Femi (c) v Dragon Lee

NXT Women's Championship.
Lyra Valkyria (c) v Roxanne Perez

NXT Championship.
Ilja Dragunov (c) v Trick Williams

It does seem like Trick Williams will be pulling double duty tonight.

Yeah in the build up Dragunov offered the shot Williams earned here after being medically cleared after a match that Ridge Holland (kayfabe) injured him, however durint that time Williams and Hayes are competing in the Dusty Rhodes classic.

People are expecting a turn as there has been fiction between the Williams and Hayes with the storyline further focusing it

Cody Rhodes v Shinsuke Nakamura has been made for Raw tonight after Shinsuke attacked Rhodes backstage during a live event in Knoxville on Saturday. Also advertised is Gunther's 600 day title celebration, Kabuki Warriors v Chance/Carter women's tag title rematch and fatal four way tag match where the winners will face Dunne and Bate on Smackdown to determine who face Balor/Priest at Elimination Chamber.

Really enjoyed Vengeance Day, Dragunov retained his title in a great main event but I thought Trick was excellent in that match, Carmelo turned on him after and attacked him.

Dave Melzer has reported that WWE are thinking of turning the Reigns/Rock/Rhodes thing into a story, similar to Daniel Bryan's road to Mania a few years ago when he ended up winning the title, I'm sort of Okay with this but how do they explain why Rhodes apparently giving up his shot to the Rock, he just looks like an idiot.

maybe it’s all just to distract from Vince news.

It makes zero sense to create some Bryan movement when Cody is already super over and won the rumble for his WM spot. There’s no authority figure, he just gave it up to the rock.

The fans are unhappy because they actually watch the show and it makes no sense. The casual people that only watch WM each year will love the rock.

Yeah Ava has deleted her X account now sadly, the criticism has gone too far now.

On the show last night they really pushed that Mania press event hard, it takes place on Thursday with Rock, Cody, Roman and Triple H there along with Rollins, Belair and Ripley and Cole said we might get some big matches made for the show, they must have mentioned that event 10 times or more last night.

Cody has a pretty good match with Nakamura in the main event which was a bull-rope match, it was the first bull-rope match in nearly 17 years but really it like a regular match with a few no DQ stuff thrown in, Cody predictably won but Drew ran in to attack him after. We didn't get any answers from Cody about the past Friday.

Elsewhere, Jey Uso stepped up to Gunther for the IC title, Kabuki Warriors retained their tag titles, there will be a women's Elimination Chamber match to determine Rhea's opponent for Mania and Becky Lynch beat Shayna Baszler in qualifier for it but it wasn't a good match, Liv Morgan faces Zoey stark next week. DIY won the tag team qualifier and will face Dunne & Bate on Smackdown.
