I think it'd be great! Maybe some unlimited stuff like rocket trucks, topfuel funnies, maybe 2player dragging in arcade, golf cart drags. Anything to emphasize on drag racing would be spectacular!

no no no! you make a joke of it... this should be serious with no rocket trucks and such... (I know there are rocket trucks irl but its too much for this game...) Pro Sreet would be enough for GT5 i think. those are very fast but not too fast and not too modified so you would be able to buidl a prostreet of allmost every single car in the game if they include drag modifications... the event could be called ''Polyphony Pro Street Cup'' or something :D and you should do the burnout and stage in by your self like in the other dragrace games...

In the tuning shop they can make a question like this: what kind of car you wanna make? and the alternates can be like: General tuning or Drag Car (pro street) then if you chose Drag Car you should be able to change engines to V8's :D

imagine to make a pro street machine with a tuned Chevy 454 machine out of a Volvo 240 estate :D

If they doesn't put in drag racing in GT5, I'll be pissed...they've teased us for so long! The dragsters from GT2, Las Vegas in GT4, just put the damn mode in the next game, PD!

BTW, the ideas I've seen here all good, but I dpn't think we need Top Fuel, Funny Cars, or tractor pulling  that's just goin' overboard.

As much as I love drag racing, you guys are getting a little too far out there with your hopes and wishes. Gran Turismo is about grand touring, road racing, etc. I'd just be happy if PD added a 2 player drag mode.

yeah, with burnout (if you need) and stage in... i think the red light would be included as well, so you have to go at green light... otherwise = disqualified...

They promised this drag racing since gt2 they are lies lies lies how could they not put it in after like 7 years.
cause now they have the hardware to make it really good... KY is a perfectionist u know ;)

to all you ppl who thougt that I was serious about tracktor pulling.. sorry.. it was just me that haden´t been sleeping for a couple of days.. sry for that but a dragrace would be nice

lol to much sweedish drugs.

chevy vega would be cool I think! and maybe monza

these would only work if engine swaps were included. they werent original v8 cars. also throw in a pinto. dont laugh just yet, i once saw a guy that had a pinto with a 460, full "lightning rod" shifter and a bit of nitrous for good measure and it was street legal... kinda. to drive it you actually sat in the back seat.

yes drag racing should me much improved in gt5, actually it would be nice to have burnouts but just manual staging would be a start, not, is there was head to head drag racing in gt4 anyway, youd just mash the gas and go, kinda takes a lot of the skill out if it.

yeah, engine swaps should be in to make this really funny. and some dragracing modifications, imagine a old Opel Kadett or something with a tuned 454 sticking up through the bonnet and drag tires! :D

yes, that would rock! and then with dragracing modifications, paintshop and stuff! imagine to share the cars you make with the whole world :D and imagine the joy of winning a race!

just got another idea... i was thinking of allow the player to completly build an own drag car (if they want, otherwise its easier options). first buy a chassi, and then purschase everything you need and then chose a body you want, then only the main body is sheet metal, the front, the bonnet, the doors and the trunk hatch is in fiberglass. the windows should be plastic as well.

So... I'm taking this up again. any new ideas on how PD should do a complete dragracing mode?

well. I can make a list on thing that would be awesome but still not to much for PD:

1: Dragracing modifications. Dragtires, Scoops, rollbars and stuff. (only for American cars from 1960 to 1990 with V8's and rear wheel drive)

2: The player makes it all by him/her self, Burnout, stage in and take off at green light. (If you start before green light you are dusqualified.

3: Improved grip depending on how you make the burnout and how you are staging into the marks you made under the burnout.

4: You should be able to make wheelies depending on the grip (point 3)

5: There should only be one class. Pro Street would be perfect. (only one class because I think it would be too much with many classes. remember it's just Gran Turismo)

6: Real dragstrip, Indianapolis would be the best i think.

7: Dragracing License where you learn all the rules about how to race and then about the class Pro Street about how you can tune the car and stuff (if that would be the class that is in the game).

Please come with more ideas. I'll put this list into the first post and updatign when new ideas is coming.

Maybe its better with a Pro Stock class, and no dragrace modifications. better to just win ready Pro Stock cars. They can include about 10-15 Pro Stock's.

What Pro Stock car do you want? It has to excist irl, post images.

I don´t think dragready cars actually have a place in GT series. If you want it, just modify regular cars to the closest possible. Dragracing as it is will most likely not be in GT5, since I feel PD looks at dragracing as an acceleration test, and not an actual form of racing. It would be very cool with a prostreet or stock but also a top fuel, wich would be hilarious to drive on a racetrack!
Personally, I don´t care much for dragracing in a game, since there is actually no way of implementing g-forces, and I feel that is a key issue with dragracing.

well, top fuel shouldn't be added. thats to much, Pro Stock i think is just right. and those cars should only be able to drive at a Dragstrip.
the g-force u ae talking about can be imagined if they make the handling correct, with grip improved and stuff... u dont feel g-forces when you drive a f1 car in the corners either right?

No, but atleast the speed sensation is immense in cornering with the FGT car. And to have cars that can only be driven on certain tracks is bollocks IMO, all cars should be able to run on all tracks in all modes. Thats something I don´t like with GT4, I might say.
And as for grip, the grip levels in GT4 is way to good compared to RL, so stating that more grip is needed is also bollocks, although a real dragtyre should have to be an option if real dragracing is to be included for GT5. As it is in GT4, the R5 tyre should provide very much grip on the strip, although not as much as a true dragtyre would.
Another thing that has to be worked out by PD, is the inclusion of a clutch for this to work properly, as I already miss that feature...

Now, excuse me, I´m off to build me a dragcar in GT4, as I haven´t done that yet! Would the Chevelle be a good choice? I really feel that I want an American muscle car for this, rather than for example an Audi Quattro, wich is quite common as a dragcar around here.

but i tell ya. dragracing in GT5 would really be a challenge if they make it complete ans realistic. first you have to make a burnout, long and straight burnout. then you have to go bak exactly into the tiremarks you just did for the maximum grip. then slowly stage in, first to pree stage and then stage and when you'r in stage you have to be quick cause soon the green light glows! about one second after the time you'r in stage the yellow lights at the christmas tree glows, and 0,4 seconds after the yellow lights the greenlight and GO! (starting too early and you'r disqualified) 0-100 in about 0,9 seconds (with good speed effects that is gonna feel quite fast. and i guess the ps3 will offer PD to make such effects) over the finish line the car is running about 200mph and a perfect run goes in about 6,8-7,0 seconds... imagine this with a realistic AI and the damage if something goes wrong! :D
