That's awesome, I love SSR7 track for online drag racing. Are there any serious players on here that would like to set up like a drag racing competition? Preferably g25/g27 users. Must be racing in MT using the gearbox and clutch or else it's kind of pointless.

Does the top gear test track have an nice wide and long strip for this as well? I remember when doing my license tests that it did if i recall correctly.

For those who have a g25/g27 wheel and wish to drag online, put your name in this thread so we can all get together and have some drag races online. :)
I'm in pm me for details please.

now that yamauchi sed it will be many updates of GT5 i hope PD provide us with a deasent 400m test track or drag strip to see our cars 1/4 mile time

Does anyone know about the effects of a long burn out besides ruining the tires. The reason i ask is because today, i was bored and could not leave a game for some reason. So i just decided to draw stuff on the track with tire marks...lolz, it was fun, however, once i finished my 10 min non stop burn out, my tires smoked for another 1-2 mins. Not like the smoke you would produce from actually doing the burn out but rather what happens to a set of rubber after a good long burn. Anyone have experience with this or is this just a bug??

Here's what i think gt5 needs for a drag strip. give us a parking lot 1.5 miles in length and .5 miles wide.

Setup two set of lights one for bracket one for h2h.

Have the bracket light setup so that you can set your time burn out and then stage in that sequence and for the h2h lights just make you burn out and stage.

You would have to stay staged for at least 5 seconds to start the tree.

Also before you start the race you can pick the distance of 1/8th mile 1/4 mile or the full 1 mile.

Ok once you reach the end of the track you get a lil summary somewhere on the screen of your time, r/t, and mph.

Then you drive back down the side of the track back to the staging area and wait for your turn to line up again because its a continuous cycle of cars where everyone just do there runs then get back in line.

So that's my idea for drag racing it would make a lot of sense to do it like this and i dont think this is such a hard thing to implement.

This could be like waiting in line for the rally stages as well. But really great setup and idea overall 👍

YES

My friends and I have doughnut competitions online, the rear tyres of my 430 scuderia (well, what's left of them) smoke for a long time after, plus they tend to stay red aswell, they don't really cool down.

Also, R35gtr fully tuned engine with Sports Soft tyres does the best doughnuts by far....

In case anyone wondered....

APOLOGIES FOR BEING OFF TOPIC..

You have to start simple. PD arent good with choices so don't give them to much to think about their heads might explode.

1/4 mile drag strip with online. PERIOD

Y'all are asking WAY too much.

All I want is drag racing mode, online, with the in-game cars as-is.

Heck, just give me the 1/4 mile test track from GT2 so I can at least do it single player!

I think drag racing is about as popular as street racing. There isn't really a lot of street racing, just a lot of going fast/drifting on public roads

I honestly think that a proper drag mode would be the saving grace of this game for me.

Question: How big is drag racing in Japan(outside of street racing, and I don't think they even do that)?
Street racing in Japan is probably the most popular way Japanese drivers make it to the pros. Although illegal there, racing teams actually look for street racers for prospects (don't believe me? look it up, there are several interviews from pro japanese race teams confirming this, but you need to be able to read japanese). Drag racing in Japan is like breaking the code of the Samurai, they just don't do it. Unlike the USA, people in Japan actually realize it takes more skill to turn corners than go fast in a straight line for 13-16 seconds.

I Personally don't think Kaz would bother to do one. If he were i think it would've been in the game already. Tho if they would end up doing it hopefully they would replicate the actual surface on a drag strip. If you've never been on one it feels quite abit different to a normal road. All in all if they do it i hope they get it right.

I really hope Kaz notice the feedback and realize it needs to be added to the game. Before today I hadn't played the game since early january, but add a drag racing mode and I'll play every day again.

If a drag racing mode was built i'd like there to be dial in times included to stop unfair races or staggered green lights

You got that right. This has been discussed many times in this thread, and I really think it's the only way to go.

God damn it still bugs me Kaz didn't give us no drag strip. I had gotten my hopes up for Infineon and/or Bandimere only a couple of months before release, and then nothing. I can't tell you guys how much I wanted this to happen.

EDIT: Also, keep the votes coming for a Drag Racing Mode and a real life drag strip, on the feedback forum!

but i tell ya. dragracing in GT5 would really be a challenge if they make it complete ans realistic. first you have to make a burnout, long and straight burnout. then you have to go bak exactly into the tiremarks you just did for the maximum grip. then slowly stage in, first to pree stage and then stage and when you'r in stage you have to be quick cause soon the green light glows! about one second after the time you'r in stage the yellow lights at the christmas tree glows, and 0,4 seconds after the yellow lights the greenlight and GO! (starting too early and you'r disqualified) 0-100 in about 0,9 seconds (with good speed effects that is gonna feel quite fast. and i guess the ps3 will offer PD to make such effects) over the finish line the car is running about 200mph and a perfect run goes in about 6,8-7,0 seconds... imagine this with a realistic AI and the damage if something goes wrong! :D

Bro honestly I've read your posts and I don't mean to be rude but you don't know anything about drag racing, so just stop acting like you do.
