I'm looking at the track votes and see that not all registered drivers have voted yet. It's going to be close regarding the 2nd tour choice.

So please vote if you haven't done so (only registered DTM drivers count)

Think the tyre rule needs a change, having to use all three compounds could be an issue when its a wet track for most of the race.

4. During (weather) races pit windows and tyre selections are still to be used until;

4.1 Surface Water reaches 25%. If this happens at any time during the race then all pit windows, not already fully completed, are no longer required. The pits are open until the end of the race to change to any tyres, at any time, even when surface water returns to less than 25%. You will not have to use all 3 tyre compounds.

Mr.Turner, when are you planning to accept my friend request on PSN? i wouldn't want to miss the race because of this reason :(

No worries, add me and you'll find the lobby tonight: SymP_4000. ;)
You can also add djdaveyp85, because he will probably be the host

I see quite a few people wish to signup even with a full grid so I think I'll give this a pass as my connection been appalling recently in GT5 and especially with heavy damage on, I don't want to risk lagging into someone and ending their race prematurely.

Can someone swap with me car choice i would like to drive the Audi TTR again

because i'm really not good with time conversions, the race starts at 3.5 hours???

Sorry guys, but I think I may pass on the pre-season races today. Had a rough day so I'm just too tired and moody to do any racing tonight, I know for a fact I won't be able to focus. I may however drop by for the Spa race if I lighten up a bit, we'll see ;) I'll probably be playing BF3 anyway to unleash some frustration 💡 Granted I will be back next week for the first race of the season.

My thoughts on yesterdays race and the testing of the new ideas for DTM V

max 600 PP instead of max HP
I haven't noticed any big inequalities between the cars but one race isn't enough to conclude. I guess we need a whole season for that.
The advantage is that it leaves more room to tune the car for the track. I believe Goruk demonstrated that yesterday by swapping downforce for HP's. He was fast! And with the PP penalty system the CLK advantage (more possible downforce than the other cars) is tackled.

So my opinion is to go for it this season.

Weather
Personally I'm still not that enthusiastic about the current weather implementation in GT5. What I would have wanted is a chance of rain somewhere along the race. But my experience, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that it either is raining at the start of the race and (depending on the settings) it gets worse and never stops or it gets dry and never will rain again. That leaves only a decision to be made about what tyres you will start on and (if started on wets/intermediates) the wet track indicator will tell you when to change back to normal tyres.

My opinion: no weather races in DTM V

Lag issues
As always, we used a fixed host yesterday. In all previous seasons, when we tried to use a non-fixed host we had all kinds of issues like people not seeing each other, disconnects during the race and still...lagging people. The last race was La Sarthe in DTM4 and we all know how that 1st lap went. I think the fixed host isn't the main cause of the severe lag issues (there will always be some lag). It's the individual connection.

My opinion: we just have to deal with the little lag and maybe create some kind of restart rule for the big lag issues as the mainly appear in the first few laps.

In my opinion, the TT-R has a pretty big advantage with 600PP. It maybe was my setup (very low downforce), but I saw the replay and lap times, and my Audi was so much faster than the rest. After my pit stop on lap 1 (car seriously damaged due to lag issues) I was about 1:38 behind the leader. On lap 21 that advantage was decreased to just 38 s.

I wish it was because the TT-R suits my driving style, but, 1 full minute?? That's suspicious...

weel i make my move lol

i don't think is gonna result with 600pp.

for me we return to rules of last season. 1120kg, 473hp and 598pp. penalty, try PP

my big problem is the lag probs, is that a prob to me!!!

It's suspicious indeed.....because you drove the whole race on Softs! (guess you need to look at the rules again ;) )

If I look at toyota in the TT-R the cars look still quite equal

LOL Just seen the rules. I didn't notice that. Now everything is explained. It was my fault. Thanks ;)

Can i still stay with the Audi TTR this season since i have already completed 1 season it already?

Edit: are we using the 600pp rule for DTM V or what ?

There are no rules stopping you using a car you have used in a previous season. PP or old regs, the debate continues.

My quick opinion is back to old regs. But that is because i am terrible at tuning a car. Dont really know where to start and dont really have the time to find out. But then im not really a contender anyway after my showing yesterday. Either way i'll still find my way at the back of the grid in my slippy A4. Might have a better chance in the Alfa...

i'm worse tuner than you, and never gonna practice, school is first :sly:
But i'll go with the PP restriction... You can also take my Astra if you want, andi'll go with the A4. but haven't found it in the UCD yet and I'll have to borrow it from somewhere

Before we make a final decision about the regs, here some values:

This is a table of the PP's using the DTM4 regs. As you know, my problem with it is the extra possible downforce for CLK (see PP's in first column). We had a PP max of 598PP in DTM4 to force the CLK to minimize that extra downforce. But as soon as the penalty weight kicks in the CLK drivers can increase their downforce again. This table shows that (measured in PP's) the whole range of penalty weight can be compensated by that extra downforce. We're talking about 8 extra PP's! (= even more than 80 kg)

PP_Table_DTM4.jpg

You can argue about how equal the PP system of GT is but I think the difference will be less than when you fix the regs on BHP and weight. At least there will not be 1 car with a huge advantage. And I'm not a big tuner myself but it just seems a more fair solution.

JT I'll take your A4, you give supra the TT-R and you go in the astra. Then everyones happy.

Personally I think the old regs where better, just need to pp check the CLK now and again. Last season I don't think there was a pp check done at any race. The new regs don't really help the A4 or stop the clk for adding DF so I don't think theres any point.

Who won the pre-season ? was their any rain ?

I think Goruk won by ~35secs... There wasnt any rain at all
