Which Circiuts should we use for DTM3? (Top 5 will get used)

Evening my fellow petrol heads..

I'm new to GT Planet (and its forums) but certainly not new to GT!! I've found that there are a LOT of ppl online that don't have the first clue what real (fair) motor racing is...

So... are there any available places open for the DTM3 championship? As I would like to get involved.. my psn id is BB_VOODOO_DADDY

Yes there are places available. Check out the first post and choose a car/team for the season. First race is this Saturday at 22:00 BST. Be there 30mins before for qualifying. This will be a test race to make sure everyone is happy with the rules and regs. Greennarcotics has offered some prizes to make it a bit more interesting so see page 3 for more details on that. Make sure you read the rules and regs which are in the DTM group page. I'm sure the guys running the race on Saturday will explain a lot of stuff but please come armed with some rough knowledge of them. Also make sure you have bought Racing:Soft, Medium and Hard tyres as all 3 sets will be required for the race.
 
^ lol.......looks like BMW team is full just Vauxhall and Audi A4 places left,

JT i think iamracer24 wanted a place on vauxhall he said on page 2 he was in, i'm not sure but i dont think you added him.

Do we have a host for Saturday? Need someone to accept friend requests from the new guys so they can find the room quickly. Also thinking about trying (again) to make the series work in Lounge mode rather than Lobby.

Also DTM2 overall prizes have started to be sent. I have 2x3rd place cars (Green has other 1) and 2x2nd place cars (Green has other 1).
Sorry Green you will have to wait for you 3x1st place cars for about 10 days when i get back from a course. Same for the Team Vaux/Opel winning cars x 2.

A similar prize structure will be in place for DTM3. :)

I'm interested in this maybe just as a reserve driver if it doesn't matter that I miss the test race? I do like the sound of your tyre usage system for sure. The reason I can't make the test race is that I'm off on holiday on Saturday morning for a week.

I've done a few championships before on GT5 and think I've got my head around your rules.
 
Is it just normal cape ring we're doing ?

^ Dont know which track. The host will prob decide on the day. South is a typical touring car style track but we did that in DTM1. The Inner is pretty good too. I would leave out the outer or the full track as they are too long and have that stupid jump section and corkscrew. Still need a host though....

^^teeds, I would suggest adding a couple of the regulars on psn and do a couple of practice sessions with them. They should clear up any confusion with the rules.
The rules and regs are really long because things happen in previous series that we hadn't thought of at the time. Most are to cover something that might happen in the future. The main things to get right are:
1 - Car regs. Now easier that ever as the host will setup the race and you wont be abe to join if you dont have the right regs. 473bhp, 1120kg, 598pp.
2 - Tyres. Must use all 3 sets in a race. Can only change compound in pit windows.
3 - Pit windows. 2 of. Set before race. Goes on the lap you enter the pit lane. So if the PW is 10-20 you can enter the pit lane from the end of lap 10 or the end of lap 20.
4 - Formation lap. take it easy.
5 - Racing. Normal racing etiquete. Give space and dont ruin your race.

Anyone think of any more?

Pick a car and i'll see you in race 2 as i will also miss the pre-season and race1.
 
I'd like to get in on this series. Don't know if I can make the practice session tomorrow, and depending on when the races will be held maybe not the races.

If the times work out, I'll totally take the Audi A4 spot that appears to be open.

Are the race times set?

Ps think LSD should be host again if he's racing on saturday, last race went well and i dont think anyone wasn't lagging.
 
It is a good idea if they all turn up, but a full race will get everyone a chance to get used to rules.

We really need to decide what were doing on saturday i think it just gona be up to us on the day so we either need to pick what cape ring were doing or if more people want speacial stage or different track they we could go with that.

i could give an extra prize out for best rookie aswell ?? ^ edit you could
 
Guys, i just arrived back home after my endurance race from the Alpes. Left earlier than planned so i might be able to join tomorrow after all. But it's still 'holiday time' this weekend so my girlfriend might have other ideas to fill these last free days off...

But if I'm there I can host off course. Will let you know tomorrow!

Hey guys... just checked my garage and I havnt got the BMW M3 GTR!! had a look on the online/off line dealership but no luck! Has anyone got one I can have/trade?

^ you cant trade M3 GTR or i'd give you one, don't think you can trade any of the cars in this series. So you'll need to keep looking for it in dealership or ask someone if their willing to swap teams with you for a car you have got.
 
Oohhhh Shheeeett :-S ill keep my eyes open on the dealerships in hope I can get hold of one.. I have the Audi TT-R if anyone wants to swap teams...

Either way ill try and be on the grid tonight if not next weekend.

bbvdd, use the TT-R tomorrow to get used to the rules and regs anf stuff. Keep looking out for the BMW M3 GTR in the dealerships and hopefully you can find it before next week. There is a list somewhere on when the cars appear in the UCD. It does work and goes off your game days played. Have a look and see how far off you are to getting it. I'll swap you for the M3 if you cant get the TT-R.

Still taking names for reserve or ad-hoc drivers. We always have dropouts so it is likely you will still get a place if you still want to race. Hopefully we wont have dropouts though...

Since none of you guys can decide on which track to do i will choose for you.
Pre-season race @ Cape Ring Inner. Its quite a short track so you will probably have to race about 50 laps to get a 1 hour race i think.
Pit window 1 - 11-20
Pit window 2 - 31-40

If you could host LSD that would be great. You could try out that live streaming too if you want. See how it affects your bandwidth. Post a link in the forum if it works.

As for prizes, 4 cars >500000cr need to go to Greennarcotics and 1 car >500000cr needs to go to DEATHBYROTOR. All the other cars just need to be sent as i have them bought already. Just dont have my PS3 with me until the 24th. I tend to choose premium cars with some sort of link to DTM, ie. touring cars or german manufacturer but the choice is up to the buyer/sender.

Just so you guys know, I could probably be a reserve driver for this season. I can't make it to the pre-season race but I'll be available from time to time. I'll keep my eye on this thread for empty spots.
