I loved the Moments, Really the only thing other thing I've done other than the Rally School, And some Stage/Car combos in quickplay (waiting for the patch before I start career)

The Puma/Corsica one is a lot of fun, Tight technical start with the Hairpins then into the second half you get to stretch it's legs. 😊
Yes that is what I have been doing, get a feel for it then have a go at the career. Was a bit sad earlier got knocked off my short lived reign as best in the world at something 🤣

Although personally, I didn't like the physics compared to DR 2.0. It is true that this study is always trying to improve. So it will be more and more realistic, and I personally am very happy. F1 2011 was very arcade... and F1 23 is a joy for its realism... its braking blocks, which are wonderful.

There is quite some difference in graphics if you run "Time Trial" or "Quick Race" where seasons are enabled. Maybe it is a placebo but the game looks much more decent in the latter.
I wonder if Time Trial mode has less details or graphics fidelity in order to balance the playing field for all consoles and PC setups? Would be interesting to see a side by side comparison

Time Trial is Summer Afternoon, sun is basically blasting the road with minimal shadows.

Really disappointed with the title. It lacks so much polish. And feels very unfinished in certain areas. I have no doubt the screen tearing and frame drops will be fixed in a patch but I'm so glad there was a 5 Hour Trial before launch with EA Play as I'll be sadly returning my copy back when it arrives as its just not up to scratch for me. I also felt 2.0 was a so much better game in every respect even at Launch.

A couple of other observations thus far: the loading screens (compared to DR2/WRCG) are incredibly lacklustre to say the least, stage info would've been nice to have if an aerial shot couldn't be managed.

I do agree that that the "earliest" co-driver calls are about half a second/a second too late; it seems like half the time I'm basically reacting to the sharper turns as they're called out, which is a bit dicey considering the fastest car I've used so far is an Astra Kit Car for the Career FWD championship. Speaking of which, I was 20secs down after 3/5 stages of said championship on 100 difficulty (Round1, Chile, Medium length) but then the AI dropped off massively, I ended up finishing 9 minutes clear at the end... will definitely be bug reporting that tomorrow.

Re: Tarmac, for better or worse there's no longer any natural drift coming out of turns and as yet I still haven't quite "got" it. One moment the car will just understeer straight into a barrier, the next it's pulling G's like I've suddenly gone back to Wipeout...

I had a strange start with this game (PS5). I preordered it and it was automatically installed in PS5 before launch (i think it was installed on Monday 30th). And when the launch day came and i was able to play, the game was basically unplayable. Car sounds were strange, handling was way off (for example Skoda Fabia felt FWD). Car speed felt very slow and sense of speed was almost the same with 50km/h and 150km/h.
And not to mention screen tearing and stuttering :(
I tried different things (fov, hdr, game mode on tv) with no success.

Yesterday almost everything was fixed, maybe some patch has been done? Still the speed of cars feels too slow in my opinion, but it's way better now.

The desktop version of RaceNet is outstanding. So much detail to pore through and I love how in clubs you can choose anyone on the leaderboard and it comes up with a direct comparison between you and them. The telemetry is great to have and there’s a lot of stats to go through. This is fantastic.

So, after messing about for an hour or so on the Estonian Nüpli stage with the Rally2 cars, this is a massive step up from previous DR games imo. The cars feel heavier, you have much more confidence going over blind crests and jumps, fast left right transitions feel like a dream. You can always discuss grip levels ofc, but at least to me the way the car balances on the edge of grip here feels more convincing than previously.

Agreed, the feeling of weight is a massive improvement. Very noticeable under braking as well.

Absolutely, Couldn't agree more. I am getting on with the handling very well. I play on a DS4 and the game feels very intuitive and it breeds confidence.

Fix the stuttering on PC and late pace notes and I will be very happy.

No more play today, my pedals broke. Ordered a new t3pm set it will arrive tomorrow.

Hope my t300 servobase stays healthy. It is from 2016.
It's had a good run. Rally tends to be nearly as heavy for a wheelbase as drifting, after all...

Yess I have new t300 servobase in my amazon shopping chart. On ps5 i think the t300 is the best option, i will stay with that as long as possible.

Fanatec dd too expensive for the limited time i can spend playing. Logitech is a bit outdated.

However good memories I got platinum in dirt2 and gt7

I hate to sound negative and repeat what's already been said many times here, but the poor graphics are kinda cheapening the experience of the game for me having played for many hours now on PS5. I don't like to be picky about graphics for a game that should focus on areas like performance, physics, and things that make the rally experience the best, but poor lighting, sparse environments/ poor assets and textures are hard to overlook and are almost shockingly bad on some stages. Certain lighting, times of day and weather conditions do improve visuals a bit, but only because it does a good job hiding the ugly stuff.

A step up from the Kylotonn WRC titles, sure, but feels like a step down for Codemasters so it's hard not to be a little disappointed especially when a console generation separates this from Dirt Rally 2.0. It's fair to say that the developers faced time constraints, of course, and the change in engine probably contributed to some development challenges but there is no denying that many people will go into the game with some expectation that the game will look better than previous titles and be let down.

To be clear, my complaints are graphics alone even though in a previous post I claimed that graphics would not matter much as I played more. The game is excellent otherwise and I have been enjoying it for what it is, still. No doubt a top quality WRC game for rally fans, many who probably won't care what it looks like.

Clubs will be similar to DiRT Rally 2.0 but now hosted on the new Racenet.
Hmm there seems at least that some features are missing.
Also the in game selections are more limited.

I tried yesterday the Official WRC Club with the 1st Rally in Chile.
I drove yesterday 3 SS and wanted to finish today but it seems not possible. If I select the Rally (it shows 11 hours to go) than the next not started Rally opens.
EDIT: Ok got it, the timer doesn't show the remaining time it shows the waiting time to the next rally.

Another thing is if you look at the list of the current standings, there are absolutely no comfort features like show only friends or jump to my position.

BTW: The game interface is really uncomfortable and not complete, also it shows buttons to use that I don't have like inverse brake on my Fanatec wheel base even if there is no brake connected.

I don't know what to make of this game. On YT and in screenshots and photo mode it looks very nice, as good if not better graphically than DR2. But the vast amount of comments on forums and comments sections proves this is not the case, it is an utter mess. Very poor graphically and much stuttering and frame rate drops. Then I read others who say it is fine, some minor hiccups here and there but nothing major. This is so confusing! I think I'll stay well away until I can be sure it's in a better state sometime in the future if ever. Unbelievable it can be released in such a poor state if it's true.

Well, on a powerful PC it is absolutely fine and looks way better than DR2. Even with HDR off it's a step up, but with it switched on the lighting blows the last game out of the water.

The more I'm playing it the more impressed I am; I already have 16 hours in the game and it's rally heaven. Every car I've driven has been incredible and the game just feels right to me, physics wise. The only thing I'd really like to see added is the h-pattern/sequential auto select from DR2, otherwise the game is just awesome.

Spent a good few hours with it tonight on Series X. Most of my niggles with below par graphics have gone. It's way better than DR2.0 in a lot of places but not all of them. But overall I'm really impressed with it both on pad and wheel. I need to put time into the wheel cos I use it on ACC but rally is a lot more frantic and you need to move it around a lot more, so that's gonna take some getting used to.
Yes I get some stuttering both graphically and audio but I'm sure that'll get ironed out.
One other thing I discovered is you can have buttons mapped differently on the wheel and pad at the same time and both work.
For example if you want all the seat control options mapped you can put them on the pad to be able to set the position and once set they stay in-game until reset, so you could revert to normal mapping once you've done that. Or if you don't have a separate handbrake, you can use the controller as one, a bit awkward but maybe less so than trying to find it on the wheel.

Having shambled my way through today's Moments I'm finding it notable that Guanajuato, which looks like a bustling metropolis in Forza Horizon 5, resembles a dirt road ramshackle hamlet in WRC. Too bad they didn't give out comedy sombreros for the winners to wear while shaking up a bottle of their preferred fizzy beverage like Ogier does in the video.

Guanajuato (the rally HQ) and Guanajuatito (a rally stage) are two different places. Guanajuato is a city while Guanajuatito is a small hamlet. The stage in the game is near El Chocolate (the famous rally stage) but is modeled after a different road which is not in the WRC, and not near Guanajuato or Guanajuatito.

Sombrero joke is valid, though :gtpflag:
