Has there been any information about this coming to VR? Knowing that EA ported Grid Legends to Quest 2 (a visually gimped game, but there is some fun in it) and Dirt Rally having had a PSVR element to it, have they said anything about EA WRC getting a similar treatment for PC VR or PSVR2?

Edit: many apologies. I found the info on the Epic Game Store that states: "Virtual Reality. Exclusive to PC. Coming post-launch". I thought I had read that but couldn't remember where. I assume it will work for those of us purchasing through the accursed EA App, too.

Aside from stuttering, which I've tried the engine.ini tweaks and doesn't seem to help much(its not game breaking unplayable but its very noticeable and every other corner you just notice it skips like a frame or 2, annoying), another visual thing thats bugging me is the windscreen reflection/glare effect, I think. Seems to very with speed as you go faster it just seems to cast the low res cloth that flickers over the landscape in the cockpit view. I turned car reflection effect down but I wonder what other effect to tweak might lessen this?

Okay, i have to test it further but these adjustments to engine.ini seems to have some positive results. Add this to the end of the code in engine.ini:

This seem to improve performance of my game a bit, thanks 🙏🏼

I don't know what to make of this game. On YT and in screenshots and photo mode it looks very nice, as good if not better graphically than DR2. But the vast amount of comments on forums and comments sections proves this is not the case, it is an utter mess. Very poor graphically and much stuttering and frame rate drops. Then I read others who say it is fine, some minor hiccups here and there but nothing major. This is so confusing! I think I'll stay well away until I can be sure it's in a better state sometime in the future if ever. Unbelievable it can be released in such a poor state if it's true.
Very minor stutters on PS5 (pretty rare occurrence) to be fair and the graphics are perfectly fine, dont believe the negativity its heavily exaggerated.

‘ It is a utter mess’ is so far off the mark it’s untrue, not sure about consoles but on my PC it looks great and runs absolutely fine, loving it so much I bought a T300RS GT yesterday to replace my aging G29 and it drives like a dream, so much fun to be had

Guanajuato (the rally HQ) and Guanajuatito (a rally stage) are two different places. Guanajuato is a city while Guanajuatito is a small hamlet. The stage in the game is near El Chocolate (the famous rally stage) but is modeled after a different road which is not in the WRC, and not near Guanajuato or Guanajuatito.

Sombrero joke is valid, though :gtpflag:
This explains a lot and wasn't obvious to those of us who don't follow rally in real life.

The official club monthly rallies are about to start. I've just joined both EA clubs but I wonder how much time I'll be able to commit to them.

Spent a good few hours with it tonight on Series X. Most of my niggles with below par graphics have gone. It's way better than DR2.0 in a lot of places but not all of them. But overall I'm really impressed with it both on pad and wheel. I need to put time into the wheel cos I use it on ACC but rally is a lot more frantic and you need to move it around a lot more, so that's gonna take some getting used to.
Yes I get some stuttering both graphically and audio but I'm sure that'll get ironed out.
One other thing I discovered is you can have buttons mapped differently on the wheel and pad at the same time and both work.
For example if you want all the seat control options mapped you can put them on the pad to be able to set the position and once set they stay in-game until reset, so you could revert to normal mapping once you've done that. Or if you don't have a separate handbrake, you can use the controller as one, a bit awkward but maybe less so than trying to find it on the wheel.
Glad you're getting on better with it man, it really is awesome. I'm going to assume you're a fellow Tool fan too, legend

It's certainly not an utter mess, but I think "inconsistent" would be a fair way to describe it. Most of the time it's fine, sometimes it's exceptional, sometimes it's frustratingly poor. It's far from unplayable and it all seems to be stuff that should be fixable, but it strikes me as a bit of a GT6 situation where the range between the game at it's best and the game at it's worst is so vast that people are completely unable to agree on where the game as a whole falls.

I say this as someone with a fairly decent PC - the game is very playable for me but it's consistently failing to hit the level of graphical performance that I can get in other similar games. To the point that at times the graphical issues are detracting from the very enjoyable gameplay. It's probably the best rally game I've ever owned, but the knowledge of how much better it could be without the graphical issues is quite annoying.
His chicane entry was even more remarkable.

I've been waiting for people to start figuring out how to do Trackmania **** in this game. The damage system is lenient enough that I suspect that once people learn the tracks well there will be a lot of cuts you can potentially get away with if you're precise.

I'm having problem displaying the race leader's time. For some reason, almost always during the race, the leader's time is not displayed, and I do not know whether I win or lose until the end of the race. Does anyone have a similar problem? I didn't find anything in the game settings.

Thats not a bug, it's a feature.
If you see a leader-time is dependent on the starting order.
If you start first on a stage there simply is no leader-time for that stage yet.

First impression of the game is OK.
Performance/Graphics are in general OK, with occasional hiccups (visible lines in graphic buildup. Don't know the technical term.)
Driving model certainly is fun.

Had some trouble getting my Wheel setup but that was partly me beeing an idiot that wants to get **** done quickly and not reading instructions fully. Am still tinkering with details of the settings.

Career mode is a fun concept, but quite repetitive.

PS: Does anyone know how you can get the VW Golf GTI in the career mode? I am sick of that Peugeot...

Okay, the more I drive the more excited I get. Just did my first Monte stage in winter setting. Starting off in the valley with dry tires become something completely different when you hit the icey parts. This time you will have to nurse the car on the ice or you will be off the road, full on wheelspin! I tried the same stage on winter tires and I was impressed they didn't feel OP. Slightly more stable on the ice and more spongy on the dry tarmac.

Oh, and the Mini WRC sounds glorious 😍

Thanks for replying. It's realistic, but even if I'm a leader at this moment, it would be great to see the time of 2nd place. I see a time leader in 1 of 15 races. And I have a feeling that I'm fighting with myself. If I see the time leader, I can try to be faster, and it's more interesting.

It's nothing to do with whether you're the leader, it's your starting order. If the other cars haven't completed the stage yet, how can the game show you their times?

It's just emulating real rallying and whether you see times based on starting order.

In the WRC categories I don't think we should see them at all as the drivers don't get split times on stage anymore. Or did they bring that back recently?

Just played for an hour, and only time trials.
Are leaderboard competition only time trial?
No leaderboard in quickplay?

I think you have to wait for a motor show provided you have the cash and a spare slot in your garage. Not sure whether they sell historic cars though.

I love the Peugeot but I admit some variety would be nice after a while.

Just started the official WRC club rally. It's my first full length championship and I wasn't sure whether to change my tires at the first service interval so chanced it for at least the first four stages. Can you get a spare set every service if you do a shakedown? I hope so since two sets of tires won't last for 18 stages.

Yeah so there's no leaderboards in quick play due to the amount of variables that can be setup. Time trial has 2 weather settings and it makes it a bit more of a level playing field. Also, Moments is leaderboard based as well and there are official clubs and the GTPlanet club which will naturally be online leaderboard based as well.

Yes, like in the KT WRC games, you do get an extra set if you do the shakedown, there's a throwaway pop up that explains it the first time you enter a rally, I missed it too.

I entered 2 of those, but only the Peugeot were for sale. Time will tell.

In my second Season I get to race H2(RWD), so time for the Ford Escort :D
I think the Motor Expos work a bit like the used car dealer in Dirt Rally 2.0, there will probably be some rotation through the season.

I'm enjoying doing the invitationals though, messing around with loan cars, just did the Peugeot one with the 309 GTi on Iberia, absolute blast. 21k in damage repair bills though.

I got the first set but I wanted to know whether you get an extra set every service or just on the first service. Guess I'll find out next stage.

Ah right, it's just 1 extra set, per rally. So if you shakedown before stage 1 you get 1 extra set for that whole event.

I haven't played a rally sim in a long time, and it shows.

I set my AI to 100 just to give me something to aspire to, and I'm either 15–30s behind in each stage, or I'm pushing so hard that I wrap myself around a tree. I've heard others say the 100% AI isn't hard enough, so that's a bit of an ego-check.

I was definitely closer to the pace in the Fulvia, maybe I'm just no good in the 205.

It didn't help that my wheel angle range was set wrong so I had to turn the wheel 180 degrees to get 90 degrees of in-game steering. Even with that fixed I'm painfully slow.

I'll finish the Chile rally in the 205 tonight, and hopefully there's a patch before I get to the blinding desert or snow rallies later on.
