I wasn't expecting much from this new game, but I do enjoy it a lot and way more than Dirt 2.0
The graphics more realistic and really nice lightning, the FFB way better (especially on tarmac), the physics, I'm more aware of the way the car behave, feels right

There is still issues on PS5 with graphic performance, but I think it's fixable

For the graphics, I've done a quick comparaison with dirt 2.0, I'm sorry, but on PS5, dirt 2.0 is not prettier, maybe more stylized but it definitely feel old compare to this new game
How about some saying you dont feel the front losing grip,,understeer,on the ffb?
And no feel of when driving into a bank of snow etc?

Here's a couple of nice reviews post launch:

Does seasons affect grip, like when there is a little snow patches and on the edge of road in winter setting?

I posted that Sim review earlier. It's funny you commented under the video that it was too lenient and optimistic like he hadn't played the game or something. I wonder whether those "some of you" people played with the default ffb settings or adjusted them like he mentions he did?
The game should have a "Becky yaps in your ear distractingly" co-driver option for the real hardcore drivers. After watching her initial driving in the game I bet Jon turns up to co-drive her rally stage padded up like the Michelin man.

Not that I can talk, of course. Despite my clearly far inferior cornering technique as fully evidenced in the GTP League analysis videos, thanks to the unpredictable AI I managed to end up so far ahead of second place Ott Tänak in the last career race I was expecting to see his post-stage notes in the results table read "H-shifter failed to sync up" or "phone rang during stage". It'd have to have, to lose to driving like this:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Norway is RIDICULOUS. Might low key be one of the hardest rallies in the game. Some immensely narrow sections with zero forgiveness, very bumpy, and then occasionally it randomly just opens up into flat out sections before going into super tight sections again.

Absolutely brilliant it oh so difficult to drive fast.

I like the physics of this game more and more. It is a dream come true. The cars, all... RWD, FWD and AWD are a pleasure to drive. The RWD is a delight. This simulator is incredible.

Apologies for the long post but I wanted to do this since the game launched. Visual comparisons of all the seasons and track degradation settings. Using gameplay imagery rather than photo-mode. This is all direct capture screenshots from the Xbox Series X.

I used Finland, Painaa, weather set to light cloud, wet road, afternoon lighting.

First up, an easy comparison, summer, comparing no degradation to max degradation:

And now comparing the seasons, summer, spring, autumn and winter (in that order). I have added a fifth comparison including the overcast snow option for the most extreme comparison in the winter.

As you can see, the differences are quite profound.

Yeah, the differences are massive. In some of those pictures the Subaru looks like a Ford :D:lol:

That Sardinia gold time is a bloody tough nut.... currently off by a mile but man the stage is a joy to drive with the little FIAT
Fully agree played that tonight, its going to take some practice, but weirdly when using bonnet cam about 1 minute in the lighting seems to dark and I could barely make out the Road but in drivers view it was alot easier to see, also really bad sound stuttering for about 2 minutes of the stage on Xbox series x

I can't answer to all your question I'm still discovering the game

Regarding FFB I'm not using stock setup but something with no centering force, self alignement force around 60 and I've lowered tire grip and raise suspension effect, so far I really enjoy it and I've got way more information then DR2, for the front grip I can feel what's going on, for example on one track of monte Carlo, when you find snow on the height, yes the wheel feel loose like IRL

Regarding seasons and track degradation, I haven't try yet

@Cabelmania Nice time in the Sardinia Moment in the Abarth today! 👍

Does anyone know if the Engine, Effects and Surfaces audio settings work properly as I have them lowered to hear the Co-Driver more clearly and I dont feel much difference from full 100% volume?

Its something I did in DiRT Rally 2 aswell. IRL you and your Co-Driver have intercom so you can hear your calls loud and clear over the engine and surface noise. In game and especially in bonnet view I find the Co-Driver is slightly drowned out. I have the Co-Driver at 100% and the Engine and Surfaces at 50% (I have my game/Headset really loud) but I feel very little if anything is changing.

I currently use this dashboard on my 5” DDU. I have used PURESIMRALLY WRC dashboard and added some elements from the Rally dashboard from Discord user Haagel (Simhub Discord) The first one with the colored revbars is based on Ford WRC.. the second screen is a generic red revlimiter background. I switch with a mapped button on my Streamdeck between the screens depending on car I'm driving.

DR2.0's graphic(performance and appearance) is more consistent and more often than not better looking IMO. And DR does VR.

Handling is similar but the new game seems more predictable on loose surface. Tarmac is a toss, limit is still kinda hard to guess. FFB I think is overall better.

New stages are pretty good, and being longer and generally narrower makes it pretty fun and challenging. Extra sketchy on tarmac though especially with the tarmac physics...

It looks a lot better when you reduce the HDR brightness to around 30.
I’m experiencing a bug on ps5 related to HDR, after the patch.

When you load the game, and you automatically log to ea servers the console applies a grey shader and says that screen recording is not available. All fine.

The problem is that the shader stays there and the HDR is set automatically to zero (all super dark). I had to manually put it back to 30. Now on 100 the screen goes full white.

Happened twice, randomly. However i’m unable to restore pre-patch lighting anyway. Now it stays like that. 100 full white and 0 pitch black.

Anyone else thinks they could have gotten so much more from 'moments'? The vidéos are pretty useless since it doesn't relate to the évent. It would have been nice that the vids would be guided by a voiceover, giving some historical insights. Now it's just a non-meaning vidéo. Which is a shame really.

Yeah I think it would have been nice if the videos had a bit more to them to really tie into the moment and make it feel more alive. It’s also easy to forget the video because you have to choose to watch it. Particularly as they had Molly Pettit there doing V/O work and stuff. I get that there’s probably going to be over 250 moments by the end of the final season but certainly for the real moments it would have been nice.

Once you get into VO you have to do it 5 times because of localisation. I do wish the videos would auto play the first time you start an event though.

Took me two attempts but you basically need a flawless run, a single spin and you’re toast.

Was a tough challenge, very enjoyable. Think I did it with a 5.47.6 on my 10th go.

Ah yeah did think of the localisation, becomes a much larger workload then.

In dr2 I really didn’t enjoy either the tarmac handling or the modern cars.

This wrc game I’m loving tarmac and all the modern cars, especially the rally 2 cars.

Have been playing every day since early access and haven’t even remotely checked out all the content.
Really feels like the game that just keeps giving!

Here's a dumb question. I apologise in advance for this one.

Where on earth is the snow in Monte Carlo? Aside from the awful static effect that passes as falling snow, anyway.

Enjoying the game though, especially post patch.

Would be cool if you could attatch a specific dasboard to a specific car so that simhub automatically would load the correct dash for each car.
