Given we have some nice unlicensed rallies. I wonder if that's an avenue for Wales or Australia to come back? Rally of the Valley's? Outback Rally? If they use made up stages I don't see a problem? I would miss Sweetlamb/Hafren though šŸ˜
It's a bit of shame that Wales Rally GB isn't in the game. I really liked it in Dirt Rally.

We all miss the UK and Australia but they didn't make the cut in this year's WRC rally in real life so I guess they had to concentrate on making the licensed stages. Some of us are making do with Chile in winter as the environments are similar in feel.

Itā€™s a fantastic setting, hate the forced chicanes though, the car is a dream to drive and it looks so good too in that setting, kinda reminds me of Thailand, I can almost feel the humidity

Yeah forced chicanes in general are brutal. Especially in games where they're basically made on concrete, if you tap them you smash half your car off

Yep, definitely pick it up. I alternate between WRC and GT7 and they offer completely different experiences and compliment each other well.

WRC is not perfect but it will only get better with each patch. If anything, the PS5 version seems to be the least affected by some of the major bugs.

Edit: And yes, the rally in GT7 is horrible (as it has been in all GT games). Not sure why they insist on including it.

I just bought it for refreshment for playing GT7, its fun for me.. just the screen tearing is sucks..
already tried WRC10 & WRCG too..
Thank you both for talking me into this. I'm really enjoying the game. After spending some time acclimating to the game in time trials, I'm now on week 5 of my career and thoroughly enjoying it. I have lot's of work still to do on my hairpins and square corners. I can't seem to get that balance between slide and rotation.

My two gripes however are that the button symbols on my T300 (ie. X, O, square, and triangle) don't match what's on screen in game. In game symbols seem to be for the X box possibly? On my T300 O is select, R2 is back, and triangle is options. Weird choice for default. The other gripe is some of the UI is just confusing. Not intuitive at all and too brief explanations of what's going on. This may be compounded by my first gripe to be fair.

Once your driving however, gosh is it good. I constantly feel like a hero even though I know I'm super slow. Great combination with a decent looking skill celling too.

Thanks again for the recommendation. Now I just have to figure out what/how to hook up a sequential and handbreak!

Yeah I noticed that on my t300 as well, nothing a bit of binding won't fix though.

I tossed my Kadett into the kitty litter last night because it just wasn't working out for me. I tried to make it work but I couldn't find the sweet spot with the setup and I kept wrecking it. The car is not very durable and that's a problem when you aren't very comfortable to start with.

Ssh, don't encourage him back. This thread was just going round and round in doughnuts. It's nice and peaceful now.

I reckon it'll pick up when the next patch drops though- must say I've had a few good spells playing this over my Xmas hols but am back at work now so don't imagine I'll be playing that much between now and the next patch.

In my dreams the new patch will include all the AI/career fixes, performance improvements, the Celica ST185/205/Corolla/Rally GB/Australia/maybe 30+ other new cars and all the 2024 liveries. Aim high for '24.šŸ˜†

Could you imagine if something like that happened? Discord would go into meltdown.

Two things:
1. I spoke too soon on the stuttering. There are more or less regular (big) stutters, especially when turning sharply. I really hope this will be fixed.
2. One small annoyance: When doing rally school, no matter how far I have progressed the game doesn't remember which lesson I did last, but instead always selects lesson 1 when coming back to that screen.

Both these are already reported on the EA Answers website so I hope they are being addressed.

I've posted on this before,e but I do with the crowd was louder. I just enjoyed the "Mediterranean" rally and on stages through the towns, with crowds lining the streets, you can hardly hear anything (when playing in an external view as well). WRC Generations had a much better crowd atmosphere, and while the EA WRC sound is generally great, the near silent crowds spoil the atmosphere a bit. All it needs is a way of upping the crowd volume.

I feel crowds in these games are always eery and immersion breaking. In a slower car like a Mini on a dreary familiarity rally I've nothing else to do but to watch them.
You approach a group of four barely 3 dimensional men stare blankly up the road with soulless eyes. 2 of them are twins wearing matching clothes. Once you go a little beyond them you realise they were not cheering for you, but just generally cheering at the bit of road you just came from, like they have only come out today to see this particular section of road and they're so ecstatic about it they continue to do a fist pump followed by a side step and wave over and over again into eternity.

It is a tiny tiny detail but if maybe the crowds tracked your car, reacted with more varied applause animations as you got near and drove past and went back into just standing around looking as if they're waiting for the next car (which will never come but don't tell them that) it would be a fair bit more satisfying.. but hey let's not take the focus away from fixing the stability of the game first though šŸ˜‚

I wouldn't expect the same thing from a game with the level of detail as EA WRC as I imagine it would take a lot of time that could be better spent elsewhere to implement, but the crowd interaction is one of my favourite things about Art of Rally: so cool coming down a stage (or running wide on a corner!) and having the crowd part for you.

Art of Rally, for all its art style etc, captures that Group B era better than any other game. I've started playing single rallies on that game and feeling somehow it's every bit as immersive as anything else however cutesy it looks.

I agree fully about the crowds, though oddly had never thought about it before. Hearing them cheer as you drive through them would be an extra level of immersion that always seems to be completely overlooked. I'd love a rally game AoR aside, that captures that crazy 'crowds in the road part for you' 80s atmosphere. I bet it'd be a nightmare to code. On EAS WRC it would probably drop the frame rate to about 20 frames per minute.

Haha it might drop the frame rate yes!! But I'm not sure why the crowd thing is hard, it's just a sound effect when something happens. If you stop the car next to them you can hear them, their just needs to be an ability to raise the volume a little, The game already has them phasing in an out as you pass (again, you can try it my slowly driving past, when you can hear them). This has been a codies thing since the dirt games; the crowd have taken a vow of silence :)

WRCGenerations did it so well, to the extent that on some stages (Finland for example) they had extra effects as you passed large crowd areas, it was a great atmosphere (which is like the real WRC).

I mean actually animating the crowds to part for you would be hard to code - the sound thing would be pretty easy I imagine (spoken as someone who's never coded anything in my life)

Oh yeah, animating them...I'm not THAT ambitious. But they do now wave lights at night, so there is something. For now I just wish they could be told they were not in a library :)
My big 3 newest racing games, mostly Forza M and Ride 5 didnā€™t get much chance to play EA WRC yet but I will take your word on it had the crowd numbers cut in half and I never thought it would bother me until it happened. My 4th newest game FC24(fifa) has the crowd making noises with the flow of the game šŸ„³. Actually Ride 5 crowd just above disappeared šŸ¤®

Corsica and chile: you get DQ after two specific harpins as the game states you are driving wrong way.

H2 fwd first round and polo invitational.
Yeah the Chile one is known about, the fix for that is part of the hotfix coming mid January. You have to take a really wide line on the hairpin to avoid it. I believe it was a notorious ā€˜cheat cutā€™ and they just pulled the boundary in a bit too far I think.

Havenā€™t come across the Corsica one though.

PS5:
Really looking forward to the next patch.
Had a friend over yesterday, played for 3 hours.
Spending most of the time trying to find a playable stage, without screentearing.
Would really like to know how it is possible that this patch was released???
Anyone ( PJ ) know?
There is no way this patch was tested.

When they fix it, the game will be great.šŸ‘šŸ»

I dunno cause it is weird. I played it for an hour or two yesterday, the usual suspects too like monte carlo and Chile and it was fine. Not great like but fine, no noticeable tears unless you moved the camera around. Frame rare was probably around 30-40fps average which is playable.
It seems to be very inconsistent. Maybe it was tested and missed.

OK I'm ready for the next patch now. Performance has gone backwards on PS5 and the no dust replay thing is really bugging me.

I doubt GT7 will leave the disc drive until they clean a few things up
I got WRC ā€œparkedā€ in my PS5 SSD ..performance really needs improvement, between stuttering and framedrops in some large stages drives me mad and I end up with headaches after playing a while.

Game has to improve also in AI aspect in career mode , buttons shown on screen playing with an T300 is also a mess showing colors instead ps buttons..

But worse is the performance, hope they fix it asap

For some rally I go back to Dirt rally 2.0

Hope they fix soon ea wrc , it got huge potential, and for the next oneā€¦ please codemasters, go back to proper in-house engine and trow the unreal engine in the garbage
