Ebola: I Guess We Are All Going To Die

It has spread more on the Internet than it has in reality! You guys should see Facebook and some of the hot garbage some people have posted on there.
I'm particularly fond of the articles that state they are "Exposing the Conspiracy! Ebola is a patent! Ebola is man-made! Ebola is being used to keep the African population under control! Ebola is a black-killing disease".

Take a good guess at the "culture" (for PC folks) that actually believe this garbage.

The governmental monetary waste, and politicisation of this this virus is what I find the most disturbing.

An apartment of an ebola patient, could be left alone for a few days, and without a host, the virus would die on its own. Maybe stick a dehumidifier in there to speed up the process. Or heat the apartment like you are treating for bed bugs.

The hazmat suits are just for show.

The same with that Frontier Airlines plane, park it in the sun with no AC - no more ebola.

Of course the CDC knows this. But wasting money is every government agencies job.

Fear and mass panic spread faster than the truth. Or the disease. I saw a picture of a guy at an airport in America somewhere, dressed in a full hazmat suit as he waited for his flight. Ironically, the image went viral.

Still, the crowning moment of stupidity has to go to Australian broadcaster Channel 9, who decided to play CONTAGION as the Sunday night movie ...

I'm not worried about ebola at all. It spreads slowly in contries that have high hygienic standards, so if it really does get to the so-called western world, we can still ride it out by just becoming hermits and live off of canned foods for a few months!

The problem with the nurses is they aren't given anything more than a mask and some gloves. Other nurses have come out saying the hospital isn't ready to fight this virus, and I believe it.

The local news is also reporting Amber Vinson might have been sick before she got on the plane to Ohio. A very large lapse of judgement if it turns out to be true.

It is reported she called the CDC and obtained permission for the return flight, her temperature being only 99.5, below the 100.4 specified as the limit for public airline travel.

The Dallas hospital she was being treated in was rated #15 in a ranking of hundreds in the state, with a higher patient level of satisfaction than the national average. Even so, it was not really equipped to deal with Ebola cases. 76 of the staff are currently being monitored for Ebola.

Apparently we are not as smart and well equipped as we thought to deal with such an outbreak.

Google "FEMA ebola". Lots of fun stuff to be read there.

Well, it seems like Morocco is ready to be relinquished as hosts of AFCON 2015 over outbreak fears. This would have been good news, until CAF suggested that South Africa be a proposed plan B venue. It's like they want to get the whole continent infected. My days might very well be numbered guys...
Edit: It seems like the president of SAFA has ruled out the possibility of South Africa hosting AFCON after all.

This is hilarious. One of the 76 being monitored at Texas Presbyterian has taken it upon herself to go on a cruiseliner trip. So now she is quarantined in her cabin with her husband, and the liner's next scheduled port of call, Cozumel, has denied permission for the cruiseliner to land. So now multiple thousands of people are stuck on a cruiseliner? This is reported on Fox cable news.

Just because it's reported by Fox "News" doesn't mean it's necessarily BS.

There are some exceptions and this is one of them.

It was also reported by the Washington Post.

I had a freaky dream last night. I was at my cousins and she has two cats, the cats were fighting so I went to break up the fight. One of the cats scratched me and for some reason [its a dream I know] I went running around the house holding my bleeding hand up screaming until I died of Ebola.

That is indeed hilarious.

If that's true somebody owes a lot of people, and a cruiseship company a lot of money.

Oh, an Ebola scare is certainly newsworthy. My issue is with the way the Health Minister thinks that dealing with not-Ebola proves that we can deal with Ebola.

To be honest, I would not be surprised if any of the front bench came out tomorrow and claimed that black was white.

I just assumed Dutton's dim-witted statement was a direct result of his being unable to figure out how to blame Labor for Ebola. They've blamed everything from the economy to Bachelor-gate on the Opposition, so I'm surprised no-one has come out and said "Ebola? It's Labor's fault! It's Labor's fault!" yet.

This is hilarious.
Going by some of the reports down here, the passenger in question may have had limited, indirect contact with bodily fluids from Thomas Duncan, and she has been quarantined as a precaution. Her symptoms may be associated with Ebola, or they may be associated with being on a cruise ship off the coast of Mexico.

Here in Italy the governament tried to keep cool about the Ebola issue, treating it no more than a seasonal fever; keep a distance with possible infected in closed areas and wash your hands as you get home, when outdoor use chlorine based disinfectant and stuff. To be honest i don't even know how to react it, maybe we better start thinking how to take care of future infected without getting in the way of the normal hospitals

Please tell me what's so funny about infectious haemorrhagic fevers. I must be missing something.
There is nothing funny about contracting the virus, but the amount of hype and the dog and pony show the US government is putting on, would be quite funny if it weren't so sad.

How many times have they disinfected that plane? Why not leave it parked out in the sun for a few days. Any virus that might be there would die.

What about that apartment, those guys in the hazmat suits... how much did that cost and who paid for it. Stick a dehumidifier in there for a few days, or maybe treat the place with heat, like it has bed bugs. That would kill the virus.

They even quarantined patient zero Duncan's car. Nothing can live in a car parked in the Texas sun for more than a day.

Ebola virus, like any other virus, dies after few seconds if not minutes if not inside an host

I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. It would live in vomit or any other moist environment, it just needs to be dehydrated.

I don't understand that panic around Ebola. It has no chances in well-developed countries. It only spreads in conditions of total insanitary. And it is possible to cure. Four Americans were infected. What was the lethality? Zero percent. Three were cured successfully and one yet under treatment.

Isn't Ebola the only of those in the chart that spreads between easily people and kills you in a very short space of time?
Except malaria, they all spread between people. The third one can kill you in about 3 weeks.
