Ebola: I Guess We Are All Going To Die

The news is reporting that they weren't wearing Class 4 protection when dealing with the Ebola patient. That is why this nurse got infected. Not to mention she's only 26, under experienced.

This hospital doesn't seem to be very careful.

Huge lawsuit in the making.

We cut NIH budgets so we can wage war. Ebola vaccines and treatments are the casualties.

Oh please. That's a bunch of political BS.

We had our first Ebola scare last week, with a nurse returning from Africa admitted to Cairns hospital. In the end, she tested negative. But the bizarre thing was that the government held this up as proof that they could contain Ebola. How does that work? The nurse is admitted to hospital, put into quarantine, tested, and released when the results are negative. How does that demonstrate the health system's ability to handle Ebola, given that they've never dealt with it?

The news reported that they a successfully tested a medical treatment for either Ebola or it's complications. Haven't been following this subject at all but I guess it's good news.

It is the same way here as far as the media is concerned. It makes the national news, when some one in Atlanta or Washington does not have ebola. Well I don't have ebola, and I have not been on the national news.

Just sayin'.

Let's hope that this suit is at least appropriate to the conditions.

You can bet it'll be watertight.

Do you have a link? I couldn't find anything :(

In this article Prof Friedman suggests that the worker was suited correctly and that the contamination may have been when removing that suiting (he notes it's a difficult thing to do correctly).

Oh, an Ebola scare is certainly newsworthy. My issue is with the way the Health Minister thinks that dealing with not-Ebola proves that we can deal with Ebola.

Here's one article I found. Last night ABC News did a piece about the gear (Saying it was sufficient) however all they examined was a gown, surgical mask, and face shield like the article points out. This is like putting up a cardboard wall to stop yourself from being hit by a car.

I have full confidence that the CDC doesn't know what the 🤬 they're doing, they only appear that way to calm the public. I assure you, Duncan is not the last person to make an emergency trip to America to try and survive. We need to close flights to and from those countries except for health workers.

@Crispy, this BBC article definitely supports what you're saying; the suggestion is indeed that they don't know what the **** they're doing.

Incredibly this second health worker also took a flight against protocol... although no one's sure if the staff were aware of the protocol.

Oh look, another outlet saying it's "airborne" despite the text saying it isn't.

Haven't we known it can be carried in oro-nasal ejecta for some time now? Only I remember discussing this exact thing a month ago and pointing out that high school goggles, a smog mask and a plastic boiler suit were insufficient protective gear...

Currently reported is 4,447 deaths from this Ebola outbreak.

But a couple of days ago I saw Wolf Blitzer (master carnival barker, IMO) say the true figure is 5 to 6 times higher than this, based on CNN's in-house experts and two experts he had on air with him.

Agree with this? Or not?

My sister was in Guangdong during the flu outbreak and described seeing numbers of casualties hundreds of times higher than official figures in the 'provinces'. It's easy to believe that the Official Figure could be a little light. 5 or 6 times? Seems a-little-high-but-feasible.

EDIT:

And the real madness has begun; we're told by a Ghanaian nurse that Ebola isn't real but rather a mechanism to allow western forces access to diamond reserves/Boko Haram.

Source.

Let's say the current true figure is 2-3 times higher, say 2.5, giving us a true deaths figure of 10,000.

Last week the UN special envoy on Ebola said the cases double every three weeks
http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/envoy-ebola-cases-doubling-weeks-26105134

Now, if we knew the death rate, we could calculate when the deaths will exceed a million.

I have heard of death rates ranging from 50% to 80%, which is quite spread.

How anyone can take a site like that seriously I will never know.
It's very obvious this hospital has no idea what they're doing, how could they? Two of the nurses tasked with cleaning up Duncan's wastes get sick because the hospital didn't have them wearing the proper safety gear. The gear they're wearing doesn't even protect against the flu! This is why Nina Pham is being moved to Maryland for treatment, and Amber Vinson is being moved to Atlanta. Only the CDC and military are capable of fighting Ebola properly.

Uhh, yeah, they had no idea on what they were doing. Let's say that you are Jane Doe RN, and you are asked to go see a Ebola patient in isolation. You follow CDC regulations, even going above and beyond and covering your feet so that you are protected against the virus.

Entering the room, you see the patient vomiting all over the room and having massive amounts of diarrhea. You get some on your paper covering.

Now you ask yourself, did I get the virus? Think about it as you try to remove what little protection that you have.

Did you happen to read my post or just hit reply without looking? How does what you said have anything to do with what I said?

Also, this:
Only the CDC and military are capable of fighting Ebola properly.
It utter rubbish. You've just said that no scientist, doctor, or nurse that doesn't work for the CDC or military can fight Ebola properly. And frankly, how do you know that the hospital is to blame? Perhaps they were instructed to wear safety gear and refused or ignored the warning. Perhaps they were misinformed by an individual who does not represent the hospital. You're stating things that you can't possibly back up with any real evidence. Let's stick to the facts rather than making outlandish allegations.

The problem with the nurses is they aren't given anything more than a mask and some gloves. Other nurses have come out saying the hospital isn't ready to fight this virus, and I believe it.

The local news is also reporting Amber Vinson might have been sick before she got on the plane to Ohio. A very large lapse of judgement if it turns out to be true.
