Did you beat your rival you picked midway through the season? If so that team should offer you a contract.

In my infinite wisdom I picked Webber who beat me to the WDC, I should've picked Hamilton or Vettel (the two other choices). Oh well hindsight is a wonderful thing eh?

So, I got screwed out of a win at Hockenheim. It rained at the start putting me on Intermediates. Pit Crew said as soon as a dry line appeared, I would come in.

I spent 34 🤬 laps on those stupid tires long after the rain left because I was never called in & apparently, going in just made them throw on a new set of Intermediates. I barely managed to hold off De La Rosa for 7th.

Hamilton also has become a complete little a-hole. Hockeneheim, he pitted 6 laps in and ran Options all the way to the end. Silverstone, he stayed out til' the 3rd to last lap. Budapest, he decided to rubberband his car right behind me after 6-7 laps. I got sick of his shenanigans, so Turn 6 & 7, I went a slower than usual and he spun out. :dopey:

During a race, pressing the down d-pad button (not sure what it's for on PC) will bring up tyre options, similar to how you can change wing angle. That will change what the team put on your car at the stop.

I think, Prime is up, option is right, inters are down, and wets are left.

Anyone worked out how I can take an aggressive R&D plan? I'm first driver, but it's never given me the option, and I'm already at Monza.

I wasn't going to buy this game originally but since GT5 got delayed I figured heck i'll go out and get it. I did finished my first full race weekend yesterday, 100% race length on legendary with HRT. I've got to say, I haven't had a game this rewarding for ages, I finished 13th overall which I was really happy with (would have been 12th but I spun on the penultimate lap with worn tires). The only thing I found annoying was during the practise sessions I couldn't find any option to run a high fuel load, so come to the race my car felt completely different at the beginning. Anyway, on to Melbourne!

I also picked Webber as well because he had the habit of not pitting the first few races... I beat him but apparently if you choose the rival with the most points and then beat them you get an achievement.

Well I found a control setup that suits me(finally). I managed to map one out that is close to the setup I am used to. The only thing that I had to sacrifice was the 'look up,down, left, right, back' buttons, but it's something I can do without.

By the way, a question: During the practice sessions if I'm not doing as well as my team mate, the engineer keeps going on about how I should 'look at my team-mates setup'.
But how exactly do you do this? Ive tried looking round at my team mate in the garage but all I can get are his stats - no options for copying his car setup. Any help please?

Matti, when your in the garage, go to your engine settings, you will find the fuel load there.

Hope that helps.

Edit@ Golfman, you can't mate.

Cheers yeah that helps a lot, I was all over the place in the first few laps of the race. I was lucky not to cause a 10 car pile up after the first corner lol.

But I still can't believe how much fun it is even when your finishing way down in the bottom half of the field. As long as I beat Senna i'm happy enough and then getting the objectives for each race is a bonus. The hardest thing for me wasn't getting quick enough laptimes, it was trying to keep the car on the road! When your doing a full race distance it seemed to be my inconsistency that was killing me. I got up to 7th at one point when everybody around me was pitting, I came back out after my pit stop 13th, I then passed Buemi on the track and Liuzzi was around 20 seconds in front of me. He came in for his pitstop very late on, about lap 40 (i'm assuming he started on the primes and switched to options) and he came back out behind me. On low fuel and fresh tires he was flying and caught me up very quickly. My tires were wearing out really quickly but I had to push to try and stay ahead of him. I had kept him at bay for a full 8 laps and then I dropped the car coming out of the first corner, and to add insult to injury Buemi got passed me as well and I finished up 13th. Senna had to retire at around lap 20 so I beat him easily, I think Massa and Rosberg also took each other out so I was quite luckily to finish as high up as I did :D

Anyone up for some clean racing add me. To be honest I usually use medium traction online as there is so much crazy stuff happening and you never know who you are playing against in quick races.. but I am willing to do no assist races with anyone as well :)

Thanks for that. I'll have to find out what it is, so I don't go through that hell again.

I never had a problem with Webber not pitting-well that is until Brazil when he didnt pit at all and thats the only reason I came second, I was like five seconds behind him.

So thats how he won last year!! Aha! :)

Just finished my 1st season on Legend AI, no aids and got 99 points.

Pretty exciting finish as I was on level points with Schumacher and 1 race to go. I picked my toughest rival and didn't even know you could jump teams if you beat him until I read it here. I refused all the contracts from HRT, Lotus etc and was hoping another team would come in. Not sure if the game set the last race to be easy but got 2nd. Lots of places where the AI was slow. Brazil I could only finish around 16th.

So I ousted Rosberg at Mercedes and Sauber also offered a contract, so it was good to know a good team was there if I didn't beat Schumi. Webber won the WDC, Hamilton 2nd, Alonso 3rd.

Was funny how Petrov had 50 more points than Kubica but he was that group who never pitted or whatever the bug is.

Nice work Chromatic! HRT is a bloody hard slog...... i got 6 races into a 7yr career with them before the damn save corrupted, running Expert, Legend AI no aids and was sat on 43 points with a race win in Bahrain.

After restarting the career again, i sooked out and went a 3yr career with Force India running Expert, Legend AI, no aids.... currently hammering them with 284 points at the conclusion of Monza with 13 Pole Positions, 8 wins, 4 P2's and a P3.. the remaining race was a DNF at Catalunya.

It's hard work keeping Webber, Alonso and Hamilton at bay in the Force India, but fun at the same time. Most of the P2's and P3's are from the not pitting bug, which Webber has benefited from 3 times so far, and Alonso once.... Have offers on the table at the moment from Renault, Williams, Force India, Sauber and the bottom 3 teams. Hanging for that Ferrari contract! Hopefully i'll see that in the next few races!

If anyone is interested on joining a Ferrari only team for GT5 please visit my thread in the prologue section. Title: Team Ferrari
Please do not come into this section asking for GT5 players.

Had 2 good races tonight. Spa wet ended up drying out, but I managed to hold off Webber for the last 2 laps for a 5th place finish.
Finished first at Monza as I was able to run through several corners quite a bit faster than the competition. I noticed that Hamilton's push during the last races has calmed down & Vettel/Webber are running much faster now.

My racing career so far.

Season 1: HRT
6th

Season 2: Toro Rosso
1st

Season 3: Lotus (Turned down an offer from Red Bull because I wanted to be first driver... whoops)
2nd

Season 4: Mercedes
TBA

Yeah its a tough slog in the HRT. I could've got more points in the HRT if I restarted some races or changed my strategy but just went with it. I'm expecting it to be easy now I'm at Mercedes. I'd probably have more fun in the Force India. Anyway, 6 seasons left and maybe some Schumi like domination.

do tell, please :) how do you do that, where's the option for it?

thanks 👍

You get to pick a rival during the paddock interviews, about half way through the season. They show up as a blue dot on the track map afterwards.

So do as many interviews as you can. I go back to the paddock area after practice and quali.

Well...Booted up F1 2010 and got an corrupted savefile. Was already at Season 4 :ouch:

Oh nightmare, since I was aware of it I always backup my saves.

Apparently it usually happens when doing a R&D task in practise.
They recommend advanceing to qualy before retiring to the paddock.

:indiff: Sorry to hear that, Appie :(

On a slightly different topic, am I right in saying that the PS3 does not upscale F1 2010 to 1080p? It says 720p on my screen when I play it on the PS3, no matter what settings I change, but it does clearly upscale on the Xbox... I know it doesn't "run in 1080p" on the Xbox (i.e. it merely upscales it to 1080p), but as I have noted many times already in this thread, it looks much, much better, and it annoys the hell out of me...

You can't upscale.

Anyway, do you guys not think the AI is too easy when you can finish in 99 points in a HRT? In real life they can't even get a point.

You can't upscale.
👍 That's what I thought... however, some arse on Amazon accused me of "talking crap" by saying that the game looks much better on Xbox than it does on PS3, since "both consoles upscale to 1080p", citing this post by a moderator at the Codemasters forum as evidence. However, it seems pretty clear that this isn't the case, as others at that same forum have pointed out. Either way, it is bleeding obvious to anyone who has both versions of the game that they do not look the same.

I've given you a partially possible response a while back, but you aren't "talking crap" at all. Probably just someone with the mindset that multi-platform titles always look better on the PS3, and that just isn't the case. Hell, to be perfectly honest exclusive titles don't even really shine that well on the PS3 (with the exception of Drake's Fortune, GT5, and maybe (just maybe) Fallout 2, or is it 3?)

Cell is the PS3's greatest ally and worse enemy, because it's coding language is ridiculous and developers often flip it off exhaustively (I'd imagine :P), but I'll stop talking 'geek" and shut up now.

 Please, geek on... it's far better to have the facts than biased opinions, or simple fanboy balderdash, which is mostly what one finds on the internet when trying to make an honest comparison. I do find it strange, however, that a mod on the Codemasters forum itself could get something so basic wrong, but it seems to be the case.

In any case, better graphics or no, I've decided to stick with the PS3 version for the time being, simply because I don't play my Xbox all that much, and I don't have Xbox Live Gold... on that note, however, would you need that to download the patches when they arrive, and/or will said patches be available free on PSN? It seems the ability to play online for free on the PS3 is the biggest advantage of the PS3 over the Xbox version, and esp. if the patches are not available without subscribing to Live Gold membership...

I'm pretty sure patches are irrespective to any membership, so long as you have XBL, period. Same as the DLC.

Unless that's also changed. :grumpy:
