F1 201X - Updates & News DiscussionF1 2010-2016

Just downloaded the demo, and oh my. The force feedback for my G27 was terrible, and the car refused to turn if I used more than 45 degrees of steering angle. To make matters worse, the steering was incredibly sensitive on the straits, which made the car incredibly twitchy, and nearly impossible to drive. After about an hour of fiddling with feedback settings, I managed to fix the steering issue, but not the inconsistent feedback.
Hopefully this is just a demo issue, but it's a definite game breaker for me.

On the bright side, the A.I have most definately improved, especially on lap 1. It is no longer possible to gain 6+ possitions on the 1st lap, and the demo doesn't even have legend A.I!

No championship mode is the stupidest thing I ever heard. Let's make a game about the F1 championship, without a championship mode..... Let's hope it is due to it being a demo.

I liked the demo. Handling is very responsive. Graphics are ok. Overall vibe of the is nice. Can't wait for the full game.

Grand Prix mode, the mode which allowed players to create and compete in a full F1 season as an official F1 driver, has been removed from F1 2012, Codemasters has confirmed.

Concerned F1 fans picked up on the possibility of the mode's removal over the weekend, after a tweet from the game's creative director Steve Hood suggested that players would no longer be able to play a full season as a real-world F1 driver.

This afternoon, Codemasters confirmed to VideoGamer.com that was indeed the case, but that players can still compete in a full F1 season via the game's career mode as their own created character.

"In previous games you could create your own F1 season in the Grand Prix mode so you could, if you so wished, recreate a season and play as an official F1 driver," Codemasters told us.

"The Grand Prix option has been replaced with Quick Race this year so you can jump into a one off race much easier, but you cannot create a series of races.

"The championship is now solely part of the career (up to five years) where you create your own driver and move between teams – the teams available to you at the start of your career are dictated by the difficulty level."

The option to create a full season of races and compete in them as an official F1 driver had been available to players in all of Codemasters' previous F1 titles.

It's not known why the mode has been removed from F1 2012.

In addition to Quick Race, F1 2012 introduces the Young Driver Test, which teaches new players the ropes of Formula 1, and Season Challenge mode, which offers a series of challenges for players to compete in.

F1 2012 launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC next Friday, September 21. A demo of the game is available to download now on Xbox 360, and on other formats later this week.

What they are saying is they removed the Grand Prix mode, where you could play as a real F1 Driver. This has been replaced by quick race. Championship mode, where you play as your own Driver is still in the game.

Gabkicks
is he talking about an early release, or the full retail product?

As far as I went through codies forums it seems is for the full game.

To clarify it seems we will have Career Mode but not a World Championship Mode where you can choose whatever driver to compete on the full calendar. This was confirmed by Codemasters developers, reason for that given by them is that no one hardly uses that feature.

Well in my case this is what I was looking for in first place, truly unbelievable.

Anyway we will have to wait until the 21st to know if this is finally true.

with my PWTS/GT2 wheel, the force feedback is not great :/ it feels like centering spring is partially on and the ff effects feel muffled. also, I can launch full throttle from a standstill no problem as if i have traction/launch control on.

Yeah, this will be my first Codemasters game. I have no knowledge of their actions for games.

They're not patching it. :P

Apparently it was removed because, you guessed it, another conducted poll. No one used it or something.

Urgh. Seriously? Another one of those polls or whatever made-up statistics? What's next?

PS3 ..Don't really know what to make of it. First half hour trying to get wheel set up with the right feel. The graphics are only marginally better than last year. Then you get a five lap race and you realise where the time has been spent. AI seemed much better to me and was enjoyable..but...mmmm..

I wasn't too impressed with how the wheel felt either. Constant feeling of it not being on and I had to chase the car around the track in a straight line.

What you heard is downright ridiculous.

2010 isn't even comparable to the way Shift (1 or 2) feels.

My little gameplay video I slapped together :)

But it seems I'm not the only one left scratching their head at the force feedback! C'mon guys! I was hoping it would be...better.... I'll make a PC gameplay video tomorrow, and then I'll compare and contrast (if possible) the two! I know some people can't get both (I won't) but I want to see how good the pc version looks!

IMO "Career mode" (create your own name as a driver) is the way to go. After all you are not really Seb., Lewis or Fenando after all, but YOU could beat all of them ... way more fun.
