F1 201X - Updates & News DiscussionF1 2010-2016

Indeed. rF2 is intended as a hardcore simulator. F1 2012 is targeted at a much more general audience.

I, for one, can enjoy both types of games, tho. Sometimes you just want to play a game that's not too hardcore and some days you just want to take care of tyre temperatures and all that.

Anyone else feels this game should be sold like expansion DLC's.
It just feels silly that I have to buy every year the same game with current car models and bug fixes for full price.

They aren't making a new game every year, they're just adding and fixing stuff.

BTW, the only way videogames help anyone in real life racing is by making you learn the track and braking points. As usual BS press by Codemasters trying to making you believe that by buying their 3 year old game, again, you will be able to drive an f1 car.

Well, this game helps you drive an F1 car more then, say, a football game would so, I'd say that you have to give them some credit. While it's certainly not a simulator, it is a semi-sim and it is a game that a lot of people enjoy.

While having it be simply expansions every year would be nice, I'm not in a financial situation so horrible that I can't afford to pay 60$ annually for a more enjoyable game. Free bug fixes would be nice, but none of them are game-breaking, so it's not that big of a problem for me.

I wish they'd show some more videos of the game, hopefully sooner rather then later.

I personally buy very few games, and the ones I do buy I play for a good few months, so I'm happy to spend the money on a new F1 game every year.

This.

There aren't that many games that grab me these days, but based on how much fun I've had with F1 2010 and 2011, I'll buy the next one.

And for pc its going to be around 50e so not a big deal for me atleast :)

What I find really funny is that people don't want to buy a game every year. Remember the psone and ps2 era? There was an F1 game every year.

Gamers are getting a little bit spoiled won't you say?

If the graphics for Ps3 have improved I'll be picking this one up. If not I'll pass.

The graphics on PS3 have significaly improved.

I don't care much about people saying "it's just the same game, they only remodel cars" ... that's not true at all. Even for Fifa and Nba fans I'm pretty sure they are not just changing faces and names in the teams, they are also improving some moves and so on.

There is still so much space for F1 game. For instance, I was racing yesterday in dry but then it started raining. The thing the bothered me the most is that racing line was getting wet which means it was realy hard to drive with option tires but AI didn't strugle at all, they were much faster than me.

Also I was in Marussia car so basicly I was a lot slower on the straights. But when AI was trying to overtake me I defended my position and 2 of them just slamed into me from behind and restroyed their own FW.

So don't just say it's another DLC because it's not.

If you are a true racing fan specially F1 fan you won't hesitate at buying it.

Me too, and hopefully the good racers/friends I have met racing F1 online will also get F1 2012 👍

I believe that we have seen those pics before. I was actually looking forward for the gameplay, but we apparently only got a trailer.

Some interesting tidbits out today: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-08-06-f1-2012-preview-title-challenge

"And in keeping with this more accessible way of engaging with the content, there are a couple of new modes that break an extensive season down into smaller, more manageable chunks - a move away from the hundreds of hours needed to see through a career into a game that can now be 'completed' in around 10 hours.

Season Challenge breaks an entire career down into 10 races, while Champions Mode takes advantage of the unprecedented amount of talent lined up on this year's grid. The six champions each have their own event where you have to take them on and beat them: Kimi Raikkonen's challenge, for example, sees the forthcoming Finn on a set of worn tyres while you've fresh boots on, and it's your task to hunt him down."

Sounds good! Some new modes to get to grips with, the preview also details the changes to the physics which I am very happy about.
