From Shaggy
I wouldn't mind seeing your set up to see how all you guys avoided the oversteer on turn 2.

No doubt this corner is a difficult one to nail,as the inside line has massive positive camber,so I tried to keep away from driving at the corner. I decide
to attack it from as far right as possible, coming out of the 1st stay right accelerate ,then brake in a straight line turn and be on the throttle early(hopefully)driving through the corner,(as Alizera said be on the throttle as you pass through the corner) giving the best teminal speed at the braking area -the end of sector 1.That being said -not all attempt were successful, but as a whole it felt safe and fast.

Setup for Sepang
tyre pressures wing suspension camber
front 36 50 15 -2.6
rear 27 52 16 -2.0

T.C 85% Toe 0.010 ride 19mm

anti-roll rebound bump
front 42000 9200 7300
rear 136000 8900 6900

gears 1/20.6 2/16.2 3/12.9 4/10.7 5/9.4 6/8.2 7/7.2

brakes anti-lock /on 60:40 driving aids /off

Nice one shaggy,

I got it down to a 1:19.460 but I didnt like the lap,
I cant brake properly for ascari, (damn sun !!!)
I will try again on saturday to get it down further !!!

Best regards
Alireza

:crazy:Monza -Monza this crazy, I cant work out your pace in sectors 2,3,I am sooooo slow, stuck at a flat 22:banghead::yuck::yuck:,setup after setup.Only a couple of tenths off Shaggy,s first sector, so I figure wing settings cant be too far out.Anyway enough sookin', I'll keep trying...............something -if nothing works I be hoping for some insight after this weeks closed.

Remember 7pm tonight is the deadline. I havent even set a lap yet:scared:! Between the championship finishing and Sphinx's time trial my PS time has been taken up this week, so today I'll try something. Doubt I'll make it into the 19s before close.

PS: we've all agreed these lap times must be set in time trial mode.

Well I found some, was probably just me,but I think this is all I can manage.
I did a couple of tenths in each sector faster but no "cigar"!

To all ,
AS mentioned i will do a 1:18 and I have

1:18.796 23.118/27.005/28.673 Alireza Sabbagh

Theoretically I could do a 1:18.3 but it really needs a nice hookup

Best regards
alireza

Haha thanks Alireza, I knew I had some more pace in the bag but I didn't realise this would be so close between me and you after I set that lap.

My set up is pretty extreme and may suprise some so here it is:

Tyre compound

Soft (as always)

Tyre pressure:

Front 50 PSI (max)
Rear 40 PSI (max)

Downforce:

Front 0% (!)
Rear 0% (!)

Suspension

Front 20
Rear 20

Camber

Front 3.0
Rear 3.0

Toe in/out

-0.003

Ride height

18 MM

Roll-anti roll

(default settings)

Gear Ratio

Speed

Looking at our lap times, I think me and you probably drove extremely similar laps, as I only shaded you slightly in each sector but it all adds up. It makes me think that It may have just been my set up that was faster than yours rather than me being any faster.

Congratulations to S.Alonso. I had a whole week but still never managed to find the time to set 1 lap.

I'll update it all in a bit. So annoyed about not posting a time. Might try later with some of your setups to see what I can do.

Seriously? If you had've posted a time no matter how slow you still would have got at least 4 points :indiff:

I know, I was sort of busy all week, and was doing the GT time trial and F1CE championship in the little time I had for the PS3. Thought I would have time for the last few hours but was helping someone put something on ebay :indiff:. You hardly want to buy a laptop?? :dopey:

Dont have time to update, will before end of week. New week is in title, bare with my dreadful organisational skills! See you all soon.

:bowdown:one for each of you (Shaggy-Alireza)you two were a cut or two above the rest ,great prediction getting well into the 18's great work!!!!👍👍 Yes Shaggy that was a suprise setup, I never got that brave to run 0-0 wing, I'll be giving it a go!

Oh and GT4 don't beat yourself up, you do a great job,you got your fingers in a few pies, and that's just on GTP,there's always gonna be unknowns and if you feel like you might be a little disorganised don't worry about it,I for one certainly appriciate your huge efforts to arrange a comp that is only for a small number of participants.

ahhh... i think i'm withdrawing from this season like super aguri did...
i have too much to do for school...full of crap...i'll still try my best though, just to see how i fit in compared to everybody else's lap times...
the G25 has been staring at me for the past couple of weeks and i can't take it =(

as far as tomorrow goes:
GO VETTEL GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO BOURDAIS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i really want to see both of them on the podium...

Again, excuse the crude quality of the pics, but here's my lap times:

Anyway, onwards to Montreal, one of the funnest tracks in the game and one of my favorites, but not neccessarily my fastest. It should be funny seeing who can extract the most performance out of the Toro Rosso :)
Here's an early stab at it:

Montreal - Toro Rosso

1:10.824, 20.510/23.308/27.006, Shaggy Alonso

A good racer told me that the fastest laptimes will be acheived by dropping downforce to 0% on most tracks. I said that cannot be true but now I start to wonder. What is your opinion?

I doubt it's possible at most tracks. Monza is the only exception. The only other two where I could imagine setting a fast time with no downforce would be Montreal and Melbourne, as they have long flat out parts interupted by chicanes but hardly any long high speed corners where you need grip. It would be impossible to set a good time at places like Monaco, Budapest, Sepang, Imola etc. etc. without downforce. At Monza though, no downforce is definitely the quickest way round the track as it only has 10 corners, one of which is easily taken flat.

So approximately what downforce would you consider for

Monaco
Shanghai
Sepang

?

For Monaco I use 95% front 100% rear but I'm the wrong person to ask about Sepang and Shanghai. You would use quite a lot of downforce for Sepang I know though, no where near as much as Monaco though. Check back through this thread it has some handy set ups for some tracks.

Back again!! Everything will be updated this evening, I promise, and I hope to have a good attempt at Montreal tonight too.
@Zed, thanks for those kind words, and the closing date this week is Sunday at 9pm GMT +1.
However whether or not I will be online then is hard to say right now. Hopefully I will, if not by the end of next week everything should have returned to a some what normal schedule. Just a bit busy and moving around a bit next week so bare with me as i said before. If I have broadband up and running in the new place by Sunday I should be online, baring some sort of big house warming party!!

I think so. It's up to the big man, but I think last week he needed it closed just cos he was busy on sunday. How're your laptimes coming along Zed?
Had to put in a late one to go a lot of laps, don't think I 've got much left in me.Potentially another .5 so my splits say but reasonably happy.

GT4 I have seen your name else where don't know if I can mention here, but it's got to do with div3 gold:tup:

You must be the most improved driver here Zed. Compare how far your Monaco and Magny-Cours laps were off the leader's pace with how close you've been in Malaysia and now Montreal. Impressive stuff, you must be practising.
