well shaggy, this is a friendly contest not a hostile one so ill give u the secret of the lap I set : for turn 1 double dab the brake pedal while still on full throttle. If you have enough wing itll work like a gem !!
Try it out and tell me what you think.

best regards
alireza

Hmm, breaking whilst accelerating lol, a very 'gamey' technique that would destroy a car in real life. Then again I often run with max tyre pressures, firmest suspension and max camber so it's not as if that is very realistic either. Must give that a try, never ever done it before.

Haven't you got it all unlocked already sure?

I'm doing a world championship with Rosberg in the Williams at the minute to see if I can actually win it. No reloads either, if I crash I crash, if I'm taken out I'm taken out. Should be a real challenge, I've won the first two rounds so far, Bahrain was a piece of piss, it always is but Malaysia was nerve racking, it started raining with 9 laps to go, I pitted with 6 to go for intermediates with an 8 second lead to Schumacher who caught me up, but I just held him off at the final corner, phew! Considering it was Malaysia, a track where it's really easy to spin and it was raining, I was quite proud to have done this in a Williams.

Anyway, just set a slightly faster Hockenheim time but I'm still unable to live with Alireza, he's just too fast in sectors 1 and 3.

1:15.362, 16.792/33.263/25.307, Shaggy Alonso

I done all of the single player mode in the PS2 version. So I never really got around to it in this version.

As for your tip Alireza. How did you find things like that out??

luck i guess !!!!

basically its for corners where you normally oversteer too much, Michael Schumacher was the master of this, application of the throttle helps balance oversteer out. But i first tried with 10-15% throttle, it worked so i decided to up the percentage.
It even works for 100% so its a little bit of a game glitch but it makes us go faster so why not use it ???

Best regards
alireza

Yep Braking and Accelerating at the the same times helps, especially if you have a wheel with pedals 👍 I must admit I only use it at Sepang and Imola and only at the sharp right turn.

Another tip is to change Traction Control and / or Brake Bias during the course of the lap.

I didn't get much time for R+D so I'm well off the pace.

1.17.601 17.191/34.283/26.127 zed300

I'msure I would be able to reduce that time with some setting changes and track time.

Well at least it is better than my prior fast time in the "mf1 setups" thread, not by much though :indiff:

1:16.775, 17.015/33.781/25.979, icelt

Damn :indiff:! I've only just got back to were my PS3 is, I've missed another week :guilty:. And I've found that the broadband I've bought wont even let me sign in on it :ouch:. (Notice how I'm getting angrier here.) Does it need a Proxy server??

On the flip side the broadband is 15 times faster then I'm use to :dopey:! Anyway, back to normal from now on, thankfully!

Congratulations to Alireza.

So, what's next G?

I'll update everything in a few minutes. The next run will be in the sandstorms of Bahrain, using a Williams, in honor of Nico Rosbergs 2nd place today. Didnt see much of the race so I cant say whether or not he deserved it. Did he??

Ahh cool, just recently finished a GP in Bahrain with a Williams, so hopefully my set up wont be too poor.

Rosberg was well worth his victory, once he passed Trulli he opned up a mega lead which meant he was able to finish 2nd despite having a 10 second stop and go penalty. Awesome drive, every bit as good as Alonso's.

No TV here cant even watch the highlights :grumpy:. Seen Massa runing off with the pipeline though! (hope the mechanics are alright) And Kimi trying to beat Fisi's aerobatic skills across the chicane. Did Fisi crash after his leap of fate??

All is updated by the way, and to ensure that I'm competitive this week I'm going to start right now! :)

Edit I got a 1.31.814, 25.327/41.060/25.427, GT4genius so far, I'll post sectors tomorrow. Can do better though.
I can do a 31.3 with this setup but I didnt get a chance to take the splits down.

Oooh, gonna up the ante a bit here G

Bahrain - Williams:

1:31.134, 25.367/40.460/25.307, Shaggy Alonso

C'mon, you can do better G! Well I think I've finally learnt how to drive quickly at Bahrain. There's something about this track which I actually quite like. The way it flows and certain corners, just leave you with a feeling of satisfaction when you get the most out of them.

I'll give it Bahrain a go this week...What bonus points do i get for being a newcomer (as the title states).

PS...My times are going to be embarrassingly rubbish compared to some of you guys!!

You get double, points for being new. Welcome to GTPlanet, and more importantly the F1 forum. :sly: It doesnt matter how good or bad your times are, all we are here for is a bit of fun and to try and learn from each other. I seen your thread about the steering wheel, but I cant post I know very little about them I use a sixaxis too, I'm sure someone else who knows a thing or two about them will help.

@S.Alonso, damn right its heating up this week, dont for a second think your safe with that 31!!

Ahh thank God, a new member, welcome! Ideally I would have liked more than 8 people competing each week so that points aren't guaranteed. But yeah, even if you come last in each round from now, you'll probably still finish 6th overall simply by virtue of showing up more. Nothing to lose, and by seeing Alireza's times and set-ups, you'll get faster real quick.

Thanks Shaggy...It's really good to find like minded people that like to do this sort of thing...Yeah,Alireza's times are very impressive. How do you get to see his set-ups??

Haha, we just post them. Usually whoever sets the week's fastest time share's their set-up. But it's more of an unwritten rule than anything.

I was considering to change the points system back to the original top 6 system that use to be used. What do you guys think, would it be good from now on or would it just add unneeded confusion to the points system?

PS: I'm having what will probably be my last go tomorrow morning at this, unless I'm back early on Sunday. Hoping to get a mid 30, but I think my setup needs a bit more thinkering. I dont like this track too much, I think its too long and although it probably is one of the easiest tracks it is still very difficult to get a perfect lap. It is way to easy to be slightly too late on the brakes and miss apexes by a metre or two and that downhill hairpin in the 2nd sector seems to only have one line through it, everything else will try and pull the back end round way too far.

So 10 points 1st 6-2nd 4-3rd 3,2,1 for 4th 5th 6th? It certainly make us fight(compete) harder for the glory spot. If not for the rest of this season, maybe the next?
I still havn't had a go ,will endeavour to do so tonight though.
Good luck to all
Jeff

OK,here's my time...

Bahrain / Williams;

1:32.877 , 25.863 / 41.317 / 25.697 , Fluffball

Take that as my final time...I don't think i'm going to improve on that!!

Welcome CyberNerd952, as Zed said, its more the merrier here and dont forget you get double points on your first week!

I got a new time yesterday too and I think it might be all I can manage:
1.31.014, 25.167/40.420/25.427, GT4genius. Whoo provisional first, although I'm dreading Alireza's time, and I'm sure Shaggy isnt finished. I'll probably have time for another shot at it on Sunday evening, but I wont improve.

1:33.026, 26.029/41.516/25.481, icelt

Well my s3 time seems ok, don't know how I'm flubbin' up s1 and s2 so badly. Need alot more laps I suppose, just don't know if I'll get'em in or not.

Seems a bit odd. Last sector is good, but there is only really 2 corners in it. Not sure whats wrong with your first sector, are you hitting a good high top speed? If you are running a high wing setting then you should be better in sector 2 so I'm confused, unless you are having a problem with the downhill hairpin, if you are then ease off some of the camber, and maybe even lift the car a little and stay wide turn in early clip the kerb and let it understeer out instead of the usual oversteer problem if you go in too wide.

Thanks gt4 👍, upping the ride height and dropping the camber did help for s2. Also dropping the wing even more seemed to help for s1. So I'm fairly happy with the full second reduction. May try to run more laps later, but not likely.
